That shot was taken with my camera at highest telephoto (5X), and even then cropped, and I don't think the flowering showed up well, and as well I don't think there was much flowering at that spot anyway. Here is a close-up that I took from a low bridge over that same pond a few weeks earlier. I believe most of the flowers there are similar colour.
I just did a little research, and it may be that those are water lilies rather than lotus blossoms. I made the assumption because they look so much alike, and lotus is so popular here, and cooked sliced lotus root is a vegetable commonly eaten.
Any takers?
“let us spend one day as deliberately as Nature.”
― Henry David Thoreau , Walden
Ducks on a pond
whither they leave the calm loch
for the harsh shore,
but more, they flee
willingly
Did you write that, John? If so, bravo and thank you. Even if it's a quote it's a great find.
I made it up on the spot.
What is that stuff on the left side of the photo?
Is it vegetation? It is a little blurry on my screen.
It's a patch of lotus floating in the middle of the pond.
I thought it was something like that. What colors are they?

You took a nice photo. The contrast of the birds on the calm water is striking.

Great photo Buzz. I don't have a poem but it looks like water hyacinth to me.
Really nice photos Buzz, The close up of the lotus are quite lovely.
