Zoo's Baby Kangaroo Stolen From Mom's Pouch
(Newser) Baby kangaroos are supposed to be with their mothers until they are at least a year old, say worried staff at the Special Memories Zoo in Wisconsin. A baby kangaroo was stolen right from its mother's pouch at the zoo's winter holding facility last week, and the zoo has pleaded for its return, along with four baby goats that were also taken, NBC r eports. "They need correct care. The baby kangaroo unless its being hand raised it needs mom," a worker at the zoo in Greenville tells WBAY . "They need the correct formula. They need the correct care. The goats are being bottle feed. Theyre not old enough to be on their own."
The zoo's owner says the kangaroo's mother was injured when the 5-month-old baby was taken from its pouch. "There's just bad people in the world," she tells NBC. "It's very, very upsetting." Police are investigating and while they don't have any leads, they believe it will be hard for the thieves to hide the stolen animals now that the theft has been made public, WBAY reports. "If you took them just bring them back," a zoo worker tells the station. "I mean our main concern is the animals. We just want them to be healthy. We want them back where they belong." (A therapy kangaroo was kicked out of a McDonald's elsewhere in Wisconsin .)

Now that's just plain wrong!
I remember living in Santa Rosa, North of San Francisco, about 15 years ago and a couple of morons stole some baby Koala Bears out of the SF Zoo because they thought they'd make great presents for their girlfriends. Then they found out that Koala Bears, even the baby ones, bite and claw like crazy. They're cute, but cuddly they are not. They took it for about 2 days and turned themselves and the babies in.
The picture looks like a really big squirrel ... just sayin' .
