THE RULES
In this case, the adage has nothing to do with wedding gifts, but with photos.
Except for one situation explained below all of the photos must have been taken by you..
Please do not just post photos, but also provide descriptions and explanations that are relevant to them.
Post NO MORE THAN ONE PHOTO for EACH of the 4 categories.
Photo 1: OLD
This is to be a photo EITHER of something very old, or a photo taken by you perhaps many years ago.
Photo 2: NEW
This should be a photo taken by you very recently.
Photo 3: BORROWED
Your photo should be of something you borrowed, OR IN THIS CASE ONLY, can be a photo taken not by you, but by a FRIEND OR RELATIVE, and borrowed by you to post here. (No Ansel Adams photos, please, unless he was your uncle.)
Photo 4: BLUE
Here the main subject of the photo should be predominantly blue in colour, or else the whole photo should be predominantly blue.
Here is my submission:
1. OLD This photo was taken by me while looking down at the Ottawa River behind the Canadian Parliament Buildings about 45 years ago. I was using my Canon F1 SLR, and I processed the film in my darkroom, enlarged it with my Leitz Focomat 1c enlarger, and then processed it. I used a type of silver paper for it.
2. NEW Recently the Lotus Blossoms bloomed where I am.
3. BORROWED Back when I was a member of Newsvine, I belonged to the Photography group there. The rules of the group required that it was necessary to post an original photograph if an article was posted. I came across an interesting article about movies concerning photographers that I thought the group members would appreciate, so I tried to tie it all together for my photo with my DVDs and a camera and lenses I borrowed from a friend.
4. BLUE The body of the peacock.

Are we not going to see something Old, something Borrowed, something Blue? Actually, that photo could have also been something Blue.
I'm grateful to see anything at all.

Something OLD:
I call him Buddy.
He lives a couple of miles down the road and, for the longest time, was my closest neighbor. We nod hello each time we cross paths when I head down to town for supplies.
Something NEW:
Little dude, (dudette?), popped out of the woods on his shaky new legs. Never did see mom on this particular visit.
Something BORROWED:
I mean, who owns a outdoor cat? Am I right? lol
I happened to glance outside one fine morning and saw this beauty taking advantage of my back deck. How he made his way through miles of woods and onto my back table is just one of those little mysteries that makes life worth living.
Never saw him again.
Something Blue:
Blue skies and red tail hawks. Heaven.

Something old: Taken by my Uncle Louie, in about 1916. (Also borrowed...)
A flying boat from WWI vintage, came to the little town where my grandparents and Uncle Louie and Aunt Lois lived, so they all trooped down to the river... Uncle Louie took the picture. A neat bit of history!
Something new-- a recent picture of yellow and purple fluorite, western Kentucky. Isn't it beautiful?
Something borrowed: A picture of Uncle Combs and his helper in the 19teens, scanned from the picture borrowed from Cousin Billie. This was back when Coca Cola had cocaine in it. One can't help but wonder if the helper has had a bit too much Coke.
Something Blue-- Butterfly on Blue Mountain Mist Flower... The best I have right now.

Something "OLD"
Abandoned and overgrown railroad bridge and tracks; the original photo is in full color … but I transformed it to sepia tone to emphasize age and the loneliness of things abandoned. The composition is cluttered although the leading lines of the tracks and bridge keep it stable in the viewer's eye -- still, the clutter echoes and reinforces the fact that "The Railway" as we once knew it, has come and gone.

Buzz may remember the Phillies catcher in the '93 World Series, Darren Daulton. He passes away this week … he died of brain cancer at age 55.
Phillies, Eagles, Flyers and Sixer fans personify the "blue collar" mentality and intensity of Philadelphia. If we hate a player (usually for giving less than his best effort), we'll drive him out of town; but if we love a player, he is truly loved.
Two players in Phillies history (in the last 50 years) come to mind … Chase Utley is one, Darren Daulton ("Dutch") is the other.
I read about Daulton passing a few days ago. Much to young.

OLD.....above is the Pellisier Building. Downtown LA. Built in 1931. The pseudo-apocalyptic tones are the result of a project/contest on another platform.
New....Above is City Creek in downtown Salt Lake City. Taken at the end of July from the light rail station.
Borrowed.....sort of.....Above is an image taken as a literal screen shot from a video produced by Deezer France. I say literal because I pointed my camera at the tv screen as opposed to punching a button.
Needless to say....Blue....taken at Union Station LA. This is what happens when I have to wait on the train.....

That would be great, Buzz. I honestly can't say for sure if it's lack of knowledge or a wonky computer, though. Things like posting pics but text refusing to post on the same comment happen alot to me. Either way any pointers are welcome.
Now that you've seen above how I post a mixed article of text and photos, I'll tell you how I do it.
The first thing to do is after determining my topic is to select the photos I will use for it. In this case, the 4 photos I used were already edited, but otherwise editing to my satisfaction will be required. I then re-save the photos labeling them with a code so that they are easily identified for posting (i.e. contest 1, contest 2, etc). I then start out with text on a word pad (I don't have MS Word). First I type in the Title, then follow that with an introductory paragraph. Knowing approximately how mamy photos I'm going to post, I then type along the left side the numbers 1, 2, 3 etc. leaving a few spaces in between them (makes it easier for viewers to identify the photos they comment on, especially if it's a photo essay with many photos).
Now, open the NT forum (or group) on which you intend to post, and click "Add Discussion" or the plus (+) sign at the top of list of articles. You now have your blank page to fill in. Copy and paste in that window your prepared document. Next, you add the photos, under the numbers, leaving a space after the number before pasting the photo. To add the photo, you make sure have left the indicator where the next entry will be posted a couple of spaces under the number, and then on the banner with your many options above the article, you click on the image of the little piece of film strip to the left of the smiley, and that will open a picture gallery. At the top is a banner with choices and you click "Upload an Image". You then get another screen that gives you more choices. The first on the left is "size". I choose 512. The next one is "Position" and I choose "Normal", then "Margin" and I choose "None" and finally you click the right hand one to choose your image, and it opens your picture library. You can choose your photo from the library either by clicking it twice, or clicking "select" below. Your photo should now be posted. If you can't see the whole thing, click on it and it will do two things, first it will expose the whole photo, and secondly you will notice little squares show up on each corner of the photo. You use those to adjust the size. If the photo has run off the right side of the window you will only see the little squares on the left side but that's no problem. If the photo is too big, then click and hold on one of the littel squares an drag it towards the centre of the photo - you will see the photo reduce. I usually leave a little margin on the right side to prevent the photo from cut off on the right when you eventually post the article. I also make sure that vertical photos are not so big as to more than fill the screen. Okay, your photo is posted. That is when I decide what to write about that particlular photo, and type the text next to the number above the photo. I then repeat the process for the next photos. When all the photos are posted I delete any extra numbers below them, sometimes write in a short paragraph at that point, and finally click "Post" button at the bottom. It is now posted, but if it was on a Forum rather than a group, you should write the first comment, or it will not show up on the Front Page "Comments" window.
To just post as a comment on another's article, you need not go through all of that, but a lot of it will apply.

Actually, that is a house out in the middle of the woods in the eastern part of North Carolina I ran across while wandering around. Almost looks like it was a store at one time. There was an old road in front of it.
Better make that blue on a little less blue. That's a place called Crowder's Mountain about 20 miles from Charlotte.
Who's the dude in the pic Six? The view is very similar to one on top of Sugar Loaf Mountain. Simply beautiful!
