The Cycle Ends.........A Time to Close....Autumn in the Adirondacks
Well, this may be my last in this series of photos (if you've been following) from my family's lake house. I started posting pics in the late spring and have been posting more all summer. My Mom, Nephew, his wife and children and an old friend of mine, came together to close the place down for the winter. A sad time, but also a time of vibrant colors and the promise of a blanket of white to come in the not too distant future........even though it was 80 degrees on Sunday.......I hope you enjoy the photos.....
So, Saturday was muggy with some showers, Sunday the pouring rain beating on the metal roof woke me up, but the sun came out and it hit 80 degrees.....unheard of in October......then on Monday, again woke to the rain, but it didn't stop. Had to finish closing and loading the truck in the rain.....got on the road at 2:30, got home and went and picked up the new addition to my family.......her name, appropriately it seems, is..............
.....Rain. Yup.
BTW, I may have one more installment, my nephew and I are talking about going one last weekend and cleaning up the beachhead and shallows once the lakes are lowered (mid-November).
So, you had a great visit together. Wonderful! Love the photos!
Great photos, great visit, great dog...
Outstanding to say the least … my kind of imagery!
Thought you might like it. Even though I got soaked closing things on Monday, I still was a little hypnotized by the 'smoke off the mountain'. I may go back one more time to do some lake floor clean up just off the beach head. The dock paint has been peeling and chunks are laying in the shallows. I'd like to clean that up (and discover why the dock paint form less than 2 years ago is coming off).
Great pictures, looks like a nice place to relax. Thanks for sharing a piece of your world with us.
What a view!
That's beautiful view. I always wanted to have this house.
Fog and foliage - beautiful.
Dear Friend Spikegary: This week Mrs. E. and I did, as we do every year go around the various of the 11 finger lakes, and then later the seaway trail about Great Lakes Ontario and Erie to see the leaves at peak.
The trees at higher elevation, and farther from the warmer than land lake waters have already peaked.
Others at peak or just before.
It s all happening later this year than usual.
Your photos reflect and will reflect our experiences.
Great work.
This week we dined Al Fresco.

Whenever I see his sign saying, "Don't be a meenie. Buy and eat a weenie" I know where I am having lunch.
Then its off to Monica's for a deep purple Concord or Malaga grape tart for dessert, with a cup of hot mulled spiced cider.
Peak leaves are the best of fall.
There after its mowing and raking them.
Not quite as much fun.
In this life we take the good with the bad.
