Where did October go?

As many of you may know October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Please take it serious ladies.  If you breathe, you can develop breast cancer.  I know you get preached at a lot, but early detection is most important.  If you don't have health insurance coverage for mammograms, contact the American Cancer Society or the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

I am a six year survivor, and I can not stress enough the importance of mammograms and early detection.

Don't ever think it can't happen to you.

Congratulations on 6 years!  I don't have breast cancer but I am 5 years cancer free from melanoma.  Early detection is best,  we need to know our bodies.

The Docs and the people in health care say to do this check for a reason.  Catching it early means a better chance of survival.  Same for guys when the doc says it's time for a colonoscopy.  Not a fun thing, but a friend of mine lost his leg, then his life to colon cancer......

These routine test are no fun, especially a colonoscopy.  Even doing the mammogram is a pain....but do it guys!  Like I said...don't think it can't happen to you.  Do all of them.

I am so sorry for the loss your friend.

Dear Freind Spikegary: Good advice indeed.

Although not the major cause of dead and disability by cancer, men also get breast cancer.

Much more rare than women.

It does happen.

In every instance, for any body an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

The earlier a problem is detected, the faster a treatment plan is devised and implemented, overwhelmingly the better the outcome and cheaper the cost.

Peace, Abundant Blessings, and the Good Health to Enjoy Them to One and All.

Enoch.

Dealing with a little BC maintenance here and there, but overall doing well.  Ish.

Also, mammograms are a great tool, but there are still opportunities for an incorrect diagnosis.  Remain aware in the days/weeks/months immediately following a negative result.

Congratulations on reaching your 6 year mark, Sunshine, and to everyone who fights to beat this insidious disease.

It's also important for men who are genetically at risk to be screened:

Congrats to all the survivors.  My mother is a breast cancer survivor.  I took her to several of her appointments when she was going through treatment.  It was an eye opening experience.  I'm happy to report she's been cancer free for over 5 years.

Cheering for your six years, thank you for sharing.  The importance of mammo's cannot be understated.  As tools for diagnosis continue to improve, we should all take advantage and encourage others to do so as well.  My "girls" have a compression appointment every year!
