Canada, my beloved country

I was born in Canada, grew up there and received all my education there, majoring in English Literature for my B.A. and then got my LL.B., eventually to be honoured by Her Majesty the Queen who appointed me "One of Her Counsel, Learned in the Law" which authorized me to put the letters Q.C. (for Queen's Counsel") after my name along with my two degrees.
I love Canada for a lot of reasons, travelled most of it and at one time had two homes, one in Toronto and one on a lake up north in cottage country where I had a motorboat, a canoe, a kayak and a snowmobile. Life was good, but it took a bad turn - made some bad investments before the real estate crash and it changed my life. My practice became so stressful I retired and was no longer very happy, my marriage broke down. Then I got an email from my nephew who had been living in China for a few years, and knew I was unhappy so he wrote "Come to China - I'll get you a job teaching English here." In my wildest dreams I would not have even considered travelling to the Orient let alone moving there. In my lifetime I've travelled to about 17 countries, including throughout the USA and the many islands around it, Europe, the Middle East and North Africa, but never Asia. I made a decision, it was nearly 9 years ago, and moved to China. I like it here, and I can live very comfortably on just my Canada pension (which would not be enough to live decently in Canada). I married a woman here who you see on my avatar which could be one of the smartest things I've ever done in my life. She treats me like her Emperor, and I'm so happy with her. Anyway, to end this story, so contrary to what one NT member has accused me of constantly notwithstanding my correcting his obvious taunt, I am comfortable in China, but it is NOT my beloved country.
Here are photos of my beloved country, Canada. (they are stock photos - I didn't take them)
What beautiful pictures, Buzz!!! Someday, I'm going to go there, and enjoy it in real life!
You have every reason to love your country-- and I know you miss it!

As close as I live (just across the lake) I do not get to Canada as often as I should to take advantage of the tourist attractions, cultural opportunities, sporting events etc.
I will do better in the future

Yeah, but about the Blue Jays
Actually, I don't know how you can bear taking so many photos of them. Each one is a reminder.
Robbie singing Oh Canada in Ojibwe.
I have never been to Canada, but it sure looks like a place that I would really like to visit someday! Those Nature shots are enough to make me want to visit!!
A very beautiful country Nona. I really enjoy it, plus I have a lot of rellies living there.
Kav.....I'm sure it is beautiful. I would be in Heaven photographing all of that wonderful Nature !!
If Benedict Arnold was ten minutes quicker, there wouldn't be a Canada as we know it today.
I for one am glad he was late.
Now the only relative I know of that is living there is my daughter. There may be others but would be very distant relatives.
Buzz, your adopted Ojibwe, so you have a lot of relatives in Canada and the U.S.
Thanks, Kavika, much appreciated.
I've got a "rellie" living there too ... but we never talk .
Right, Max, and it's the world's strongest supporter of Israel among the nations. I'm happy that you approve of Canada as being a good ally.
