Historical Photos From the 19th and Early 20th Century
It's always been fun to look at historical photos. These are from around the world and they consist of portraits, street scenes, group photos, architecture and some fun photos that indicate that photoshopping was actually invented at least a century ago. There are 48 of them, ranging from a wedding to a funeral, from America to China, from Lincoln to cowboys, so browse through them and enjoy. Comments about the photos are encouraged - perhaps there are places that are recognized, if so, please tell us.

Sorry for the mess, I could only send one at a time or they over-lapped. Buzz, I thought you'd like to see pics that were loaded by someone else every now and again.
Thank you nightwalker. They are certainly photos of interest IMO and most welcome additions to this article.
Great series, I don't believe I've ever seen any of this photos.
The War Dance, White Earth would be the White Earth Ojibwe Reservation in MN...
Thanks, Kavika, for adding that information. It's what I hoped that people with extra knowledge would do.
Blackfoot burial, Montana 1912...Photo by Roland Reed.
A very interesting back story to this photo.
While posting this photo with an explanation, Kavika also suggested to me the idea of doing a photo-essay of Roland Reed's work depicting Indians, and I thought that collaborating with Kavika for him to provide background, explanations and context to the photos would become even more interesting, and perhaps a lesson in Indians' historical culture and traditions. The next Famous Photographers essay I will be posting, which I have already announced, will be the work of Dorothea Lange, whose iconic Migrant Mother photo is an example of the Dust Bowl migrants from Oklahoma that will be in the essay. After that, Kavika and I will post the Roland Reed photo-essay.
I love it
They were great.
Buzz, those are really neat.
Looking around I found some more.
Thanks six, but for me the only photo that showed up was of the six Asian women.
Very cool! Thanks for sharing!
Very nice Buzz. I'll run a detailed analysis as soon as I can. Lately, I've been running behind on just about everything.
Kathleen,
If you liked these ones, AMac put up a series of articles about two years ago that were built around some old Magic Lantern slides that he acquired. Dates were roughly between 1890 and 1920. Many of them did not have dates or titles, so a number of us had a lot of fun trying to put subjects and dates on them just based on what we could see in the photos. The articles should still be on file in the Art and Photography Forum.
I don't believe those photos are available any longer. Most photos in Photography after 2 years have been deleted, I assume. We only have so much room to keep things and have to get rid of the oldest things first, so take advantage of seeing or even copying some of the photos onto your computer if you want to see it later on down the road.
I went back 2 years ago in Photography & Photo and most photos have been deleted. It cost a lot to keep things going and I even tell Perrie to delete things that are old and use up a lot of data from my homepage to give the site more available data space without having to purchase more. Kind of like when your computer gets all clogged up and you don't have any more room in your email program, so you start deleting what is not as important and saving it somewhere else if you really want to keep it or you tell them increase it to a larger capacity for a price.
Found them Six. Photography and Art Forum, pages 36, 23 and 15. On Page 36 there were a couple of them, including the first article Mac put up using the slides. That was four years ago. There may have been some in between these pages that have been removed, though
Perhaps my photo-essays that contain 40 to 50 photos might clog up the system.
These are the link to those pages TTGA.

I doubt it Buzz. All those videos I put on here for you use up a lot of data space and aren't necessary to keep once you've seen them. That's one reason I put the YouTube and the ones for you, so there will still be one in the comment later on. What I do when I put one up, I first download it onto my computer and sometimes have to convert it. Then I upload it to my homepage on this site where it has to process onto the site. Then I can grab it to put it in a comment. I made some of those songs on the latest music article by Perrie available for you, if you haven't looked. I would have done more but I got too sleepy last night. I haven't looked at the article today. You may have already seen them.
Perhaps my photo-essays that contain 40 to 50 photos might clog up the system.
Not likely to be a real problem Buzz. A photo usually takes up 1 or 2 Megabytes of memory. Even an older PC has over 150 Gigabytes of memory storage (1,000 Megabytes for each Gigabyte). Any website has a lot more storage space than that.
Six, I know that you change photos for Buzz into a forum that does not use YouTube since that's not available in China. If you need help in doing so and can explain how it's done (in private, of course), I'll be happy to help out.
As long as whoever posts songs puts the song title and artist name up in many cases I can find the song on Tudou Music or Bilibili. What pisses me off is when all I see is a blank and then a notice comes up that YouTube would not open. Videos are another thing, and that's where you've been a real help to me, and I will always post when I have watched it so that you can delete it. Photos seem to be another problem. I get to see a lot of photos that are posted but in many cases like the ones you posted that I couldn't open, I have a feeling that the problem could be from a google search, because google is banned here and if the photos are from the google site, they won't open. It just shows a message, like: "related image" or "Image result for.. (whatever it is - your first one is "Image result for hh bennett for wisconsin dells").
I think if a photo were copied and pasted onto the comment it might work better than saving the photo from google or wherever into your picture library and then using the NT image posting system because then it would retain the "google" signature. Why not try just copy and paste with the photos you posted that I couldn't open?
fun to look at
