Fake News: Starbucks celebrated for the ‘gay agenda’ campaign on their holiday cups. ... Red Rules apply.

People are theorizing that the holiday design for Starbucks’ cups contain a hidden pro-gay message, and their official Twitter account appeared to confirm it.

Why do people think the cups have a gay agenda?

Buzzfeed published an article applauding what they say are pro-gay holiday cups. The outlet cited a promotional video from the coffee company that includes two women holding hands.

“While people who follow both Starbucks holiday cup news and LGBT issues celebrated the video,” Buzzfeed reported, “the ordinary Starbucks customer probably didn’t realize the cup might have a gay agenda.”

Also, when a Twitter user claimed the couple were lesbian, the official Starbucks account didn’t deny it, and instead responded, “We’re happy you enjoy the new campaign, Rufus!” with a green heart emoji.

Here’s the video:

While LGBT groups supported the hidden message, others did not.

However, there were many more tweets mocking Fox News for reporting, “Starbucks’ holiday cups accused of pushing ‘gay agenda'” than there were those actually outraged about the cups.

I'm posting this because it's a fine example of Fake News. If you read it carefully, it says absolutely nothing about Starbucks. It even closes with a total denial that there's any "there" there.

But if you do not read carefully, you'll be convinced that Starbucks is running a Gay campaign for Christmas... again...

Up to now, I can make no-sense out of the cup design or its critics complaint. And, I have looked at video and the offical Starbucks' statement about the campaign. Near as I can tell. It is a "suggestion" you can draw whatever you wish on the cups? Is that it or were there illustrations hidden from the ad? Critics should stop using the Bible to divide the world. Division can take place in two ways: Separation into benign groups or social activism. If social critics do not want a part in what Starbucks is doing with its cup and reputation simply take their funds elsewhere.

yup, females holding hands.

Doesn't necessarily mean they are lesbian, but Starbucks has a rep for pushing a pro gay agenda, so it's a pretty logical conclusion.

Female friends hold hands all the time. Most of them are not uptight about showing friendship and affection for each other. Yet another irrelevant non news thread gets posted

I think they should make a cup with bigots on it.

This lesbian cup probably represents a couple of bigots as well.

Bigot - someone who complains about lesbians on their disposable coffee cup.

All I care about when i go to Statbucks (or anywhere for coffee) is the quality of coffee that is in the cup.

My thoughts exactly.  Who buys their overpriced coffee anyway?  People that want to be 'stylish'?  LOL.

There are only a couple Starbucks here, we have Tim Horton's and Dunkin here.  It's what regular people drink as opposed to those trying to make some type of foolish statement.

I think I am pretty much "in." I just do not quite get what the campaign is saying about the TWO women. Are the two characters illustrated on store cups or can buyers draw such images on their own cup? Starbuck's site does not provide meaning insight. I could email their "rep," but naw!

E.A  Sound exactly what I said about having a " Chat Lounge " in the and AS the " Front Page " were people can chat, before going to a Forums of their choice, sounds Good, right?

There used to be group chat used on NT every day.

It seems those particular members, though, are no longer here. Yes, some comments blurted out on threads would seem to be better suited for chat, as they are about nothing in particular.

E.A  There is where we are different, a Chat has value well beyond a Forum topic, it is just that some Value human interaction , while others Value their opinionated Guideline.

But at least we agree on the Need of one on NT Front, page as a " Welcoming Lounge "

No we don't. There is a group chat function. People who are compelled to endlessly say "hi" can use that to their hearts content.

There is no such thing as 'Red Rules',

THE RED RULES"

In May of 1919 at Dusseldorf, Germany, the Allied Forces obtained a copy of some of the "Communist Rules for Revolution".

(A.)Corrupt the young, get them away from religion. Get them interested in sex. Make them superficial, destroy their ruggedness.

(B.) Get control of all means of publicity, thereby:

1. Get people’s minds off their government by focusing their attention in athletics, sexy books and plays and other trivialities.

2. Divide the people into hostile groups by constantly harping on controversial matters of no importance.

3. Destroy the people’s faith in their natural leaders by holding the latter up to contempt, ridicule and disgrace.

4. Always preach true democracy, but seize power as fast and ruthlessly as possible.

5. By encouraging government extravagance, destroy its credit, produce fear of inflation with rising prices and general discontent.

6. Incite unnecessary strike in vital industries, encourage civil disorders and foster a lenient and soft attitude on the part of government toward such disorders.

7. By specious argument cause the breakdown of the old moral virtues, honesty, sobriety, self restraint, faith in the pledged word, ruggedness.

(C.) Cause the registration of all firearms on some pretext, with a view to confiscating them and leaving the population helpless.
