Win Or Lose: Tuesday's Election Is A Nightmare For Trump And The Republicans

Let's put Judge Moore's alleged pedophilia and general creepiness in trying to date teenage girls aside for one moment. Those accusations are going to stick with the Republican Party and the President regardless of the result of the election. There is little doubt that the midterm elections will become, at least partially, a referendum on whether a political institution {the Republicans in this case} can remain nationally viable with women and many men if they support and encourage members who have credible accusations of sexual harassment and assault lodged against them.

Moore's problems go far beyond his sexual predilictions. His history is one that defies the legal dictates of the federal government and includes being twice removed from the Alabama Supreme Court for violating federal law. His statements about Gays, Transgendered, Muslim, and Black Americans demonstrate a deep set of biases {perhaps based in his fundamentalist upbringing or perhaps not}. Recent statements about the ideal America being one when slavery was still part of the Southern landscape was not only upsetting to many, but outrageous to significant parts of the population.

Even in Alabama, Judge Moore has managed to do what no other Republican could do under the worst of circumstances. He has allowed the deepest red state in the nation become competitive in a United States Senate election. The one thing that is not debatable at this point is, by Alabama standards, this will be a razor thin election which will come down to the final days.

What will happen after Tuesday. If Moore loses the election, the razor thin majority that the republicans hold in the Senate will become even thinner. They will have no room for error on an "agenda" that has been largely stalled regardless and which has provent

The drama of Roy Moore will die down as more of his accusers are discredited (the one with the yearbook already has been) and Al Franken rescinds his resignation and the Dems let him. Dems will keep rehashing the 2016 election and not take control of the Senate because the only ideas they have are big govt socialism and open borders.
