Unless You Know About Disney's New "Pandora" in Animal Kingdom, My Photos Will Baffle You …
So … a brief explanation will be helpful.
The record-breaking, box-office hit film Avatar has come to life inside Disney's Animal Kingdom at the Walt Disney World Resort. Pandora - The World of Avatar is a creative collaboration of Walt Disney Imagineering, James Cameron, and Cameron’s Lightstorm Entertainment

Not my favorite subject, but, I thought some would like to see Pandora pix.
I was so bummed to not get to go on the Avatar ride. Lines were too long. A couple of people in our party went back just before close and were able to ride it. They were speechless afterward.
More Pandora, a second image.
As a long-time SF fan, and having enjoyed the movie "Avatar", I wish I could (but of course there is no way I can) go on that ride. Are there more photos of it to post, A.Mac?
Many, many more, Buzz.
Will be posting them.
The ride is actually a 4D virtual reality thing that takes place in a set of seats in front of a huge IMAX screen. The seats move to match what is going on on the screen, which is from the viewpoint of an avatar flying on one of those birds they ride in the movie. The seats move to mimic the breathing of the bird beneath you, and you are continuously exposed to breezes, mist, and even smells as you are virtually soaring through Pandora. There are YouTube videos of it and you can hear the crowd gasping at how realistic it is, but I know you (Buzz) can’t view YouTube videos so I didn’t post one here. But there’s a good description of it here:
Thanks, Hal, for that show. It was a good introduction (even without the YouTube video). I'm familiar with 4D, having watched the last episode of The Hobbit series in a 4D theatre, getting wind and mist in my face and bouncing around on the moving seat that punched me in the back at one point. However, now I'm not so sure I would be totally comfortable on the ride because, in fact, I'm NOT comfortable with heights.
I’m not comfortable with heights either, but it’s much easier to enjoy when you know you’re never more than a few feet off the ground in reality. I went on the Simpsons VR ride at Universal Studios and was blown away by it. My face hurt afterward, because I’ve never laughed so hard in my life. On that ride, there were about 15 people in a car on a hydraulic lift that mimicked the motion of a roller coaster. It was inside a dome in a dark room, where a digital movie was projected so it was all you could see from all sides. The movie was a psychotic roller coaster ride, where sections of track were broken and the car would fly off the tracks. I had never seen anything like that, and I about peed myself.
LOL. I think you'd have to put me in chains and drag me onto that Simpsons ride. When it ends you'd have to carry me off because I'd probably be unconscious.
I will post a good overview of Pandora … most of what I have are still in their original RAW/NEF format … as I convert them to jpeg files, I'll post them here.
One of my favorite movies of all time. They are working on a sequel now.
Great photos, Mac.
I think I read that there are 4 sequels planned; anyway, I may have as many as 15-20 pictures of Pandora.
I will begin posting in the morning.
Pandora pic 3) is posted.

Have yet to go into Pandora, still to crowded. May have to try it soon though, my mom says it is amazing.
The Pandora "scenery" is so strange, I hesitated to post the photos … wondering if anyone not familiar with the content would know what they were viewing; hence the introduction.
All the WDW parks this past Christmas, were more crowded than I'd ever seen them …
The photos are interesting enough that I don't think it's necessary to be familiar with the movie in order to appreciate them. I take photos here that look similar (but never as good as yours).
Our son got us in a few times in the last couple months, I must say Magic Kingdom was ridiculous, but Epcot was not bad.. Not even bothered with Animal Kingdom, it's always been bad, and since Pandora, I can imagine how bad it is, but... Gotta do it sooner or later..
Good night and Happy New Year.
Happy New Year to you, Amac !!!
