We had more of your Black Wing Swallowtails where I came from though the yellow were around, too. In fact, my first 4-H Entomology Project was raising swallowtails from the egg though the pupa stage (which is the hard part) till they became dormant larva that eventually emerged to spread their wings as adults to start their life cycle anew the next day. Metamorphosis. Our home was on the Monarch's migratory path. Millions would cover everything in sight in the evenings on their routes north in Spring and south in Fall. The dearth of Monarchs anymore does not bode well for mankind if you ask me, but nobody asked. And, yes, I was that nerdy kid with a butterfly net and a kill jar and an insect collection at the county fair...
I believe that the Eastern Tiger Swallowtail has a black phase as well as the yellow; as for Monarchs, some speculate that fires in Mexico destroyed much of their habitat, but, whatever the reason(s), as long as some believe "The Marketplace is God," we are going to see the earth destroyed.
Professional secret, Pat; there are a number of ways to do remove backgrounds … and, not all backgrounds can be cleanly removed. Tracing is certainly one way, but it's harder to do than it sounds.

Beautiful Mac.
Beautiful pictures, Mac. Very well done. (smile)
Very nice ! Do you have to trace around your subjects to delete the background ?
