Florida lawmakers advance a bill that requires 'In God We Trust' displayed on school grounds

From MSN NEWS :

A Florida lawmaker has introduced a bill that requires public schools to display the motto "In God We Trust," saying that while gun violence is a problem, "issues of the heart" need addressing as well.
"It is not a secret that we have some gun issues that need to be addressed," said Rep. Kimberly Daniels, a Democrat, said on the House floor Wednesday. "But the real thing that needs to be addressed are issues of the heart."
The bill passed 97 to 10 in the House -- just a day after the state Legislature voted against a measure to consider banning the sale of assault weapons. During that session Tuesday, the legislature also declared pornography to be a public health risk.

The bill says the "In God We Trust" motto needs to be displayed in a conspicuous place. It would cover all schools in a district and in each building used by a district school board. An identical bill has been introduced in the Senate.
If approved, the legislation would take effect July 1.
In her remarks, Daniels made reference to the Parkland shooting where 17 students and teachers were gunned down.
"God isn't "Republican and he's not a Democrat," she said. "He's not black and he's not white. He is the light. And our schools need light in them like never before."

Clearly this is nothing more than an attempt by lawmakers to make themselves feel like they're doing something when they're really doing nothing at all, especially after the Parkland shooting. As if "In God We Trust" is going to magically fix everything. >sarc<

The "American Family Association" anti-LGBT hate group says the solution to school shootings is to have schools post “You shall not murder” on their school marquee or school sign for one week.

Simple solutions for simple and gullible superstitious people.

Simple, and completely ineffective solutions seem to be the best they can come up with. Which is the same as nothing. They take the "let god fix it" approach. *groan*

Does anyone have the phone number of the Satanists?

If god and prayer can stop mass shootings then why are there shootings in churches?

I think Angry Left did back on Newsvine. Wink

Maybe those churches are of the wrong Christian denomination and the shootings are a message from god?

Apparently Kim Daniels is a Trump supporter and terrified of "witches."     I still find it odd that any black woman would support Trump, but Daniels is clearly nuts.

Providing a whole new meaning to the expression "As useful as tits on a bull".

The real causes for this tragedy are: (1) the fact that the FBI ignored the warnings and the individuals who did should be charged with assisting the perpetrator, (2) the police who incompetently handled the warnings need to go back to Police College, and (3) the medical staff who examined him should lose their licences to practise their profession.

The chain of negligence and incompetence is just as guilty for the death of those students as the killer was.

Have "Thoughts and prayers" outlived their usefulness?

When have they ever done anything useful, other than a blanket emotional comfort.

The term worked for decades.  Until last week.  Apparently the conserva/carps are trying new slogans.

The term worked for decades.

What has it done exactly, other than what I already mentioned?

Nothing.  It served as intended.  Expect less and get even less.  If you're looking for an answer...............uh...........MAGA?  That will do it, right?

When exactly were thoughts and prayer ever useful? What did they ever accomplish, except for letting the person saying it to act like they cared without actually doing anything meaningful?

Picking the can up and carrying it actually takes less energy than kicking it over and over. But there is more action in the kicking.
