McMaster: 'We have failed to impose sufficient costs' on Russia

trumpmcmaster.jpg

In his last public remarks as national security adviser, Lt. Gen. HR McMaster offered harsh words for Russia Tuesday during a speech at the Atlantic Council in Washington DC.

"We have failed to impose sufficient costs" on Russia, McMaster said at the event, which also included a Q&A with the Presidents of Estonia and Latvia, as well as the Foreign Minister of Lithuana

He added that the failure to impose adequate costs on Russia's activities meant that "the Kremlin's confidence is growing." (LINK)

"Russia has used old and new forms of aggression to undermine our open societies," McMaster said.

He added that the failure to impose adequate costs on Russia's activities meant that "the Kremlin's confidence is growing."

"For too long some nations have looked the other way," McMaster said, cataloging what he said were a series of actions by Russia that warranted condemnation, including cyberattacks against the US and its NATO allies, and unsafe intercepts of US and NATO military forces.

Well I guess that he finally got to say what he's been thinking for quite some time.

Well I guess that he finally got to say what he's been thinking for quite some time.

There have been a few very intelligent people appointed by Trump.

Why do they accept the appointment? Because even though some of them disagree strongly with most of Trump's ridiculous policies, they stay in hopes of convincing Trump to change his most destructive policies.

But he doesn't-- and they leave.

I may have thought more of him had he said it while still in the administration.

I believe the reason he didn't is quite simple-- if he had said that it wouldn't have changed Trump's mind. And he would have been ousted immediately.

So  IMO what he did was very wise-- he decided to stay in the administration where he felt that there was the possibility to do the most good.

I understand, but it would have been more honorable.
