Fighting Nazis doesn’t make ‘antifa’ the good guys

Fighting Nazis is a good thing, but fighting Nazis doesn’t necessarily make you or your cause good. By my lights this is simply an obvious fact. The greatest Nazi-killer of the 20th century was Josef Stalin. He also killed millions of his own people and terrorized, oppressed, enslaved or brutalized tens of millions more. Nazism was evil. Soviet Communism was evil. It’s fine to believe that Nazism was more evil than Communism. That doesn’t make Communism good. Yet confusion on this...

Media Research Center (MRC) President Brent Bozell issued the following statement Thursday in response to a Wednesday evening interview between MTP Daily host Chuck Todd and Mark Bray, a prominent voice in the radical left-wing Antifa movement. The Antifa supporter went unchallenged as he promoted his violent extremist beliefs to MSNBC viewers, saying: “The main perspective of Antifa is essentially that rather than simply waiting for the threat to materialize, you stop it from the...

Two days after President Trump questioned whether tearing down Confederate statues would lead leftists to targeting statues and monuments to George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and other Founding Fathers, CNN commentator Angela Rye did exactly that. “We have to get to the heart of the problem here and the heart is the way many of us were taught American history. American history is not all glorious,” Rye said in a heated segment on Thursday. “George Washington was a slave owner. We need...

Yes, Let's Rethink Free Speech

In the New York Times, UCLA’s K-Sue Park proposes that “the A.C.L.U. Needs to Rethink Free Speech”: After the A.C.L.U. was excoriated for its stance, it responded that “preventing the government from controlling speech is absolutely necessary to the promotion of equality.” Of course that’s true. The hope is that by successfully defending hate groups, its legal victories will fortify free-speech rights across the board: A rising tide lifts all boats, as it goes. While admirable in...

GOP Doubts And Anxieties About Trump Burst Into The Open by JULIE PACE, and BILL BARROW   WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump’s racially fraught comments about a deadly neo-Nazi rally have thrust into the open some Republicans’ deeply held doubts about his competency and temperament, in an extraordinary public airing of worries and grievances about a sitting president by his own party. Behind the high-profile denunciations voiced this week by GOP senators once...

Consider the following anomalies, ambiguities and/or self-contradictory aspects of the so-called "freedom of speech" in America. Exceptions to the First Amendment arose from litigation based ultimately on common sense as it applies to the potential dangers of unlimited free speech . Speech, etc. that constitutes libel, slander, terroristic threats, dangers to public safety  and welfare, and, "fighting words," for obvious reasons need to be restricted.  But under everyday...

The right and right media is in full throat trying to invent an "equivalency " between the Charlottesville white supremacists and the people who protested those racists and anti-Semites . The anti-raciists are dubbed "antifa" by the right , although there are many photos of protesters who appear to be no more than college students or otherwise very normal looking people.  But let's go with the idea for the moment that the battle was "white supremacists" vs "anarchists" (antifa)....

The inexhaustible left is perpetually lying in wait to entrap President Donald Trump in some impeachable offense. Sadly, some vocal Trump critics on the right seem just as eager to purge America of Trump. They hate him and hate that he won, and their impeachment lust will not be satiated until he’s gone. Silencing Political Conservatism The Trump haters on the right are one thing. But don’t be deceived into believing that the anti-Trump angst factories on the left are only about Trump....

Despite negative news coverage and criticism from his own party, a poll released Friday shows nearly half of Americans agree with President Donald Trump on the causes of violence in Charlottesville, Virginia. President Trump has maintained that “both sides” were responsible for violence surrounding a white nationalist rally in Charlottesville. He also called out “troublemakers” among the counter protesters that came “with the black outfits and with the helmets and with the baseball bats.”...

Big-money groups are helping to organize and fuel 'AstroTurf' progressive uprisings by Margaret Menge | Updated 18 Aug 2017 at 11:42 AM When left-wing organizers were recruiting people to travel to Washington, D.C., to try to “shut down the inauguration of Donald Trump” and “paralyze the city itself,” they offered a number of incentives — free housing, food, and also legal assistance in case of arrest. They also organized training camps, workshops and...

When California’s liberal Democrat legislative majority passed infamous Senate Bill #277 mandating seventy-four (74) “Made-in-China” vaccines as a requirement for California’s children to attend Public or Private schools no one suspected that that act would act as the catalyst to bring down the Democratic Party both nationwide and in California – but it did. And it is… Today, California itself is on the chopping block. NORMAL PEOPLE are taking control away from the liberal Democrats....

We are a divided nation that is in crisis. We are no longer talking to each other – only screaming at one another. We are like a married couple in crisis. I understand there are strong feelings about these statues given the inflamed rhetoric that is swirling around right now. However, tearing down statues and inciting violence is not the way forward. Where are the media's calls to civility that they issued immediately after James Hodgkinson, a Bernie Sanders supporter and volunteer...

Communism For Kids

For some strange reason , we are hearing a new found hysteria over "communism". Articles and comments , one in particular , try to pick a fight about communist ideology.  NT members are called "Bolsheviks" ( as if anyone cares) as a condemnation, for what appears to be no reason. The implication is made that America is in the throes of some pro-communism fever. I looked at Bing News to see if there was current or ongoing evidence of American liberals embracing communism as a goal or...

Dante Witt After the ugly violence in Charlottesville, is it time to kiss patriotism goodbye? No, it’s not. As we all know by now, last week some white nationalists protested the planned removal of a Confederate monument in Charlottesville. Antifa — a leftist group — formed a counter-protest. Then a white supremacist rammed the counter-protesters with a car, killing a young woman. If that’s patriotism, then good riddance. But it’s not. At least, it’s not a sane and moral patriotism....

Sen. The recent controversy surrounding the events in Charlottesville illustrate a problem the media is having with President Trump. Supporters of the president will remain with him under almost any circumstance. His opponents will oppose him regardless of what he says. If he says “good morning” they will manage to find some nefarious motive in his statement. There are a large number of people in the middle who can be swayed either way. If they get their information exclusively from the...

Why the Charlottesville Marchers Were Obsessed With Jews

By:  @krishna, 3 days ago

Anti-Semitic logic fueled the violence over the weekend, no matter what the president says The “Unite the Right” rally in Charlottesville was ostensibly about protecting a statue of Robert E. Lee. It was about asserting the legitimacy of “white culture” and white supremacy, and defending the legacy of the Confederacy. So why did the demonstrators chant anti-Semitic lines like “Jews will not replace us”? The demonstration was suffused with anti-black racism, but also with...
