VIDEO: NAACP President Claims He Was Profiled On Stop, Then Chief Releases Video

Source

Timmonsville, SC - The South Carolina NAACP president posted about how he was racially profiled on a traffic stop, and now the police chief has responded by releasing bodycam video and calling him a liar (video below.)

NAACP President Rev. Jerrod Moultrie posted to Facebook on April 13 about how he was just racially profiled on a traffic stop.

Allegations  in his account are disturbing, and would indicate profiling by the officer - except none of it was true.

Below is a transcript of the interaction as posted by Rev. Moultrie:

After seeing the post, local community activist Timothy Waters went down to the police department to look at the bodycam and dash camera footage, according to   WPDE .

He was shocked to see that everything the reverend said was a lie.

"Once I got a copy of that body cam, it's as if he made the whole story up. And I felt like he set us back 100 years, because think about all of the racial profiling cases (that) are true," Waters told WPDE.

WPDE reports that Timmonsville Police Chief Billy Brown said that Rev. Moultrie even went so far as to contact him the next morning to claim that he had been racially profiled and mistreated.

Rev. Moultrie refused to comment to the news station, and instead referred them to Timmonsville NAACP officers Kenneth McAllister and Henry James Dixon.

Both men told the station that they didn't need to see the video because they support Rev. Moultrie, and know that he's a man of integrity who wouldn't lie.

You can see the video of the traffic stop below:

"He made a comment that the officer accused him of having drugs in the car. He said that his wife and grandchild was in the car. He asked them not to move because the officer looked as if he might shoot them or something. He also made mention that the officer continued to ask him about his neighborhood. Why was he in that neighborhood? And threaten(ed) to put him in jail in reference to something dealing with the registration to the vehicle," Chief Brown told WPDE. Except all of those accusations were lies.
"When I saw the video, I was shocked that someone who is supposed to be a community leader, a pastor, and head of the NAACP would just come out and tell a blatant lie. It bothered me. It really bothered me, thinking about the racial unrest it could've cost in the community and it's just troubling to me that someone who held a position like that would come out and just tell a lie," Brown told WPDE.

The man is an outright liar==proven by the video.

Indeed he is. His arrogance in thinking he could get away with this stunt certainly didn't improve race and police relations.

How long before the NAACP and the SPLC gives him an award and medal?

Not long.

That has to be the most ignorant statement i ever read. That is the same mentality people had towards Bush II and now Trump. Stop putting your faith in people and the sky fairy and put it into critical thinking, knowledge and understanding.

Your comment could have had a very positive impact if it didn't include personal political and religious animus. Thanks for stopping by to comment.

np, I enjoy commenting on interesting topics.

My comment is reflective of the word we live in however.  Sorry you would rather my comment specify the other side of the coin as it is true both sides see things the same but opposite. Like i could say the same for people thinking everything Clinton or Obama said was always the truth without looking at the evidence to verify and just screaming their innocence just because they knew they were really cool guys...but i don't think that is as prevalent as my original post.

I was really just trying to make a point that anyone who stands there with a straight face and can say "I know there is evidence out there (a video) showing he is a liar, but I will believe him over that evidence" is an idiot.

Another tidbit about the "honest" Rev.  Jerrod Moultrie --

Moultrie was apparently "anointed" as leader of the NAACP chapter and not voted into the position by the community, as would typically be the case, Timmonsville Councilman Curtis Harris told SCNOW Morning News. Harris also slammed Moultrie for his false allegations of racism, which he said do not "have any basis of truth."

"The way they rigged it, they wouldn’t let anybody else vote, closed vote,” said Harris.

"Prior to that [Moultrie becoming president], all of the leadership for the NAACP was from the community, by the community and of the community,” he explained. "He [Moultrie] is not from the community. He was not recommended by the community. And he is not a part of the community."

Harris wants a "fair election for a new local NAACP president who is a reputable person," notes SCNOW Morning News.

What this does is to totally destroy whatever credibility the NAACP had. This makes them a hate group

What this does is to totally destroy whatever credibility the NAACP had.

It started years before Moultrie's lies. Remember Rachel Dolezal's lies? She's the fake black woman who is really a white woman who was another state's NAACP president.

This makes them a hate group

I'm not sure how much of a hate group they are, but they sure are pro-segregation. How many white and Asian people are allowed to be members of the NAACP?

Then, a white person should apply for membership and if denied, sue for racial discrimination.

With such a busy incarceration schedule, where in the hell did the good reverend find the time to head the local chapter of the NAACP?
