I would include Mark Knopfler from Dire Straits too.

Don't forget Peter Green in that line up. (smile)
Happy birthday Carlos and thanks for all the good memories.

CARLOS SANTANA PETER GREEN BLACK MAGIC WOMAN
(nice summary from the comment section)
Angel Deville - 3 years ago (edited) The Fleetwood Mac original and the Santana cover are two very different sounding versions. Which one I listen to depends on what kind of mood I'm in, but I love them both. In terms of guitarists, I lean more toward Peter Green. The emotional way that he plays gets to me deep ... it's smoky and sensual. PG is without a doubt one of the best blues guitarists in rock history. In the 1968 original song, I do like the way Peter sings. In the 1970 Santana cover, Gregg Rolie sings (also the voice behind Evil Ways and Oye Como Va), and boy do I just love his voice. It is so nice to hear Gregg singing here; he still sounds terrific ... one hell of a keyboard player, too. I remember Gregg's duos with Steve Perry when Gregg was in Journey until 1981... the two different vocal styles came together to create magic.
Carlos Santana is, and has been, one of my very favorite musicians. And his group as well. Their musical 'Brand' has been among the best for many years, and I never tire of listening to them.
He's the best.

Carlos is AWESOME...
“Your mind is a magnet. You don’t attract what you need or what you want; you attract who you are. And I LOVE WHO I AM!”
~ Carlos Santana
It must work. He has appeared to be at peace with himself and the world for 50 years.
I love Carlos, I've seen him live half a dozen times..The last time in Vegas.
This is one of my favorite Carlos video's Suave (smooth)
“One day there will be no borders, no boundaries, no flags, and no countries and the only passport will be the heart.”
~ Carlos Santana
IMO one of the world's 3 best electric guitar players - Carlos Santana, Jimi Hendrix, and Eric Clapton (although in no particular rank).
So many greats. I would include Mark Knopfler from Dire Straits too.
And Happy Birthday Carlos!

He has a niche that is all his own, in the guitar-hero firmament. One and only!
