Sergio Marchionne Dead at 66: His Legacy at Fiat Chrysler
UPDATE: Sergio Marchionne, the charismatic former head of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and later Chairman and CEO of Ferrari as well, has died at 66 of complications related to a shoulder surgery. Below is Detroit bureau chief Todd Lassa's look at Marchionne and the legacy he left:
Sergio Marchionne's prognosis looked grim from the moment Fiat Chrysler announced his sudden, early retirement, Saturday morning, but not because of Fiat Chrysler, from which he was to retire by the end of this year. More startling was Ferrari's concurrent announcement that Louis Carey Camilleri, a former Philip Morris International chief and a member of the sportscar automaker's board, immediately replaced Marchionne, as its CEO.
