AMSTERDAM (Reuters) - Dutch anti-Islam lawmaker Geert Wilders said on Thursday he was cancelling plans to hold a contest for cartoons caricaturing the Prophet Mohammad, saying the danger of violence against innocent people was too great.

In a published statement he said he would never personally stop his campaign against Islam but the risk to innocents, and of attacks on the Netherlands, stemming from the proposed contest were too great.

"My point about the intolerant nature of Islam has been proved again by this," he said.

Earlier this week, Dutch police arrested a 26-year-old man suspected of threatening to attack Wilders over his plan.

But-- is he right about this? Is it true in today's world???

Yes, he's right. If Christians were killing people for blasphemy or for some worldwide crusade like they used too then the left would be demanding a Constitutional amendment outlawing Christianity. There are lots of good moderate Muslims but the core of the religion needs an Age of Enlightenment.

Gert Wilders was a speaker at the Draw Mohammad debacle in Texas with Pam Geller. I'm surprised that either of them isn't part of the Trump cabinet.  If Callista Gingerich can be the ambassador to the Vatican, then why wouldn't Trump appoint Pam Geller the US ambassador to Iran or Saudi?

Oh come on, that statement is so pre 21st century.

The door has already been opened to allow non citizens to participate in local elections now.

Why not allow a recognized non-citizen be a representative of our nation?

Am I supposed to put this "/s" here?

Well, there have been a lot of news stories lately about robots taking over jobs--= so what I fear most is that robots may soon be appointed to the Cabinet, elected to Congress-- heck, eventually one might even take over the job of president! (Although whteer robot politicians would do a worse job than our current leaders is open to debate! Sad )

Probably (?). I think it could qualify as sarcasm.

But in addition, I've often thought that there should also be another thing like the "/s" symbol.  For something that's not exactly sarcasm-- but sort of is.

Maybe for a comment that could be better described as "irony".

Maybe we need to have a "/i" symbol?

Because . . . because . . .maybe they'd kill her?

Of course. There is a death fatwa declared and posted by the SPLC on ANYONE who is concerned about and JUSTIFIABLY warns about the creeping caliphate, posting stories of the atrocities occurring around the world that the mainstream media is afraid to tell. I wonder how much CAIR and Muslim nations donate to that multi-million dollar defender of their advancement of the world-wide caliphate and universal sharia law.

If epistte can make outrageous comments, so can I.
