The racist origins of the 'pro-life' abortion movement they never talk about
Fundamentalist Christians and [the KKK] are pretty close, fighting for God and country. Someday we may all be in the trenches together in the fight against the slaughter of unborn children. — John Burt, 1994 New York Times interview

S E E D E D   C O N T E N T

Reversing   Roe v. Wade   goes against the will of the people. A recent   Quinnipiac poll shows that a clear majority support the Supreme Court ruling ensuring a patient’s access to abortion care. That, of course, won’t stop opponents to the measure from ruling by minority; it’s exactly what the so-called “pro-lifers” want.

Rule by minority has increasingly become the Republican’s modus operandi; gerrymandering, voter suppression, and congressional loopholes show they are not shy about staying in power by any means necessary. Now we’re seeing what’s possible when a man like Donald Trump embraces it as the leader of the power. Trump has not hesitated to embrace white nationalists and give racists power—just look at Steve Bannon, Stephen Miller, and Jeff Sessions—which is exactly why it’s prime time for  Roe v. Wade  to come up on the chopping block.

It’s no coincidence that the biggest national threat to abortion rights since Roe is happening under such a racist government. Have you ever wondered why the “pro-life” movement is so …  white ? Or perhaps you’ve noticed that they seem   incapable of not being racist   whenever they pretend to care about Black people to further their extreme agenda.

You’re not alone. It turns out that the pro-life movement has been very good about hiding its racist origins. That’s not just because white people tend to be uncomfortable and avoidant when talking about race. It’s because it also exposes the true goal of the movement, which makes their initially confusing hypocrisy incredibly clear.

Wow, this "article" is a whole lot of drivel with nothing to back it up. What's even worse is that the majority of women who get abortions are women of color. It's practically a volunteer ethnic cleansing business. Any real racist probably loves abortion due to keeping birth rates down of groups they don't like.

Actually, the hyperlinks in the article do quite a bit to back it up...

Utter bullshit. Get educated.

It's practically a volunteer ethnic cleansing business.

Lot's of married white women are volunteering then...

BTFW, 59% of women who have abortions already have at least 1 child so your 'point' is moot.

Any real racist probably loves abortion due to keeping birth rates down of groups they don't like.

Since you insist that the majority of those who have an abortion are women of color [black], you're inferring that only white people can be 'real' racists. You may get kicked out of the club for that faux pas...

Depending on the state sometimes the number of black women getting abortions is over twice the number by white women. In MS the black abortion rate is a staggering 81%. The national average is 51% white and 39% black- way out of proportion to demographic numbers.

Inherent systemic racism, poverty and (again) everybody sticking their opinions in the business of women and contraception may have something to do with that.   Your stats kind of prove don's point.   It does seem hypocritical to put obstacles in contraception, which impacts the poor the most, then use the outcome to try to deny the racism of evangelicals and other pro-lifers. We are done with those xenophobic and debauched values.

Where did you get those numbers?

From your link:

Data from 37 reporting areas; excludes 15 areas (California, Connecticut,Florida, Illinois, Kentucky, Maryland, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, New York State, New York City, Texas, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming) that did not report, did not report by race, or did not meet reporting standards.

So how can we have a national average from 37 states which exclude California and New York?

way out of proportion to demographic numbers.

Yet you didn't say a fucking thing about 'proportions to demographics' did you?

Your need to move the goal posts in order to feel that you've made a 'point' is BAD FORM.

All that means is more black women are choosing to have an abortion, as is their right. So what's the problem?

The only racism that's around today is the one pushed by the left with their obsession with skin color and hiring preferences. The left still likes to pretend it's the 1950s to ease their own collective guilt, I suppose. Maybe there wouldn't be such an urge for abortions if liberal cities weren't run like sometime of feudal system or sociology experiment.

I'm just going by what they had listed under "United States". If those other states don't care to report or keep track then they just write themselves out, don't they?

The point is that there are parts of the country where the majority of abortions are done by women of color. You can like it or not but those are the facts.

Actually, it looks to me like the point is that you can't admit when facts prove you WRONG and that you think that you can just move the goal posts and remain credible.
