Trump Couldn't Even Say 'Merry Christmas' Without Whining About His Border Wall
President Donald Trump is spending his Christmas mostly alone in the White House, and he’s being a real Grinch about it.

S E E D E D   C O N T E N T

He was referring to his lack of funding for a useless border wall along the U.S.-Mexico border, which has led to a  government shutdown  even as Republicans control the White House and both chambers in Congress.

I have to wonder if any advocates for the wall know anything of the Maginot line? Seems obvious they don't.

By the way, the link to the article doesn't work.

and chuckled at the faux paus about the wall needed as

"a barrier from people from pouring into our company".

Wonder how many anti-wall whiners actually live right on the border like I do and have to actually deal with the problems illegals cause passing through our Southern border on a daily basis, which has more holes in it than a pasta colander. Like the torn down fences and damage to private property of farmers and ranchers, or the mountains of trash they leave in their wake as they pass through. Or how about the slaughtered livestock and even family pets routinely killed for food or sport. The routine break ins by illegals, drug and human smugglers looking for money, valuables, and weapons. What will it take for people to realize that there are just as many victims on this side of the border. I want the wall. If those anti-wall folks lived down here and go through what we go through here on a regular basis, I'd bet you would sing a different tune!

It should be obvious that growing poverty, violence and disorder are creating victims everywhere.  Perhaps it is time to address these issues, get off our arses and do something about it.  Corruption and the politics of fear is the root of these problems.

I've challenged the "open borders" adherents to personally take them into their homes on their dime and time,

Thank you once again for shooting yourself in the foot with your "challenge" and revealing just how much don't know about how the immigration process works:

Erika Pinheiro, an immigration attorney who is helping coordinate efforts to help those in the caravan, said many in the immigrant group will seek asylum but will unlikely be allowed to parole out immediately into the U.S. after asking for help at the port of entry.

"Women with small children and those with medical conditions, we'd hope immigration officials would use discretion and parole them out of custody but given the attention made about the caravan, it does seem like that will be extremely unlikely," Pinheiro said.

Many of the asylum seekers will likely be placed in detention after a what is called a credible fear interview with an asylum officer who determines whether the applicant has a legitimate fear of persecution or torture and is eligible to stay in the country and have a full asylum hearing or be sent home.

The majority of claims are found to be credible but increasingly applicants are placed in detention, denied parole or given high bond amounts while they await a full court hearing. Some people with medical conditions or women with small children may eventually parole out of detention. Single adults traveling by themselves will likely be in detention without a chance at parole throughout court proceedings, Pinheiro said.

Some of the asylum seekers who are released will want to stay with family members who live in the U.S.

Some Americans offer to open up their homes to Central American asylum seekers

So, even if all asylum seekers had the promise of a home to stay in, the INS would not release them and.   And even if it didn't choose detention over release, getting a home approved for these people would be difficult.

Your term "open border adherents" is disingenuous at best. Pretty sure nobody wants open borders.

This term is used just to inflame reactionary far right wingers with low comprehension skills.

Just watched a video in which teens were able to breach Trump's walls in minutes. What a boondoggle!

SOME Democrats have called for amnesty for illegal aliens and for the abolishment of ICE.

Not this Democrat, and the ones who have are fringe Democrats, it is not one part of the Democrat party platform. The only "amnesty" they have called for is that provided through DACA which takes work, it's not just an automatic granted citizenship and only applies to a small segment of the undocumented immigrants, those who were brought here as children.

The fact is, the last major amnesty I recall was under Reagan. Funny how history has a way of biting you in the ass.

Morning Paula .. hope you are well and had a nice Christmas .. even though I know things must be difficult...

I am curious about one thing... when did government workers become so sacred .. there are quite a few GM workers struggling this Christmas as well .. wondering how in the near future their bills will be paid … the difference between the 2 being that the gov employees will return to work with pay and benefits intact .. their bills may be late, but paid .. can the same be said about the average American when their job ends, when they are laid off?

I find it difficult to boo hoo over the government being shutdown … it would be nice if it was shutdown for a downsizing and a competency clean up - but alas the same dysfunctional individuals will be returning from a paid vacation soon enough …

“Poll undercuts Dem. narrative – 89% of border agents want wall system

So it shouldn’t come as a surprise that in a survey conducted by the National Border Patrol Council — the union that represents the agents who patrol the border — 89 percent of agents supported adding a “wall system” in certain high-traffic locations to help catch or deter those who try to enter the country illegally.

The survey of more than 600 agents in two of the Border Patrol’s busiest sectors found just 7 percent of agents disagreed with the notion that a “wall system in strategic locations is necessary to securing the border.”

Benjamine “Carry” Huffman, the head of strategic planning for U.S. Border Patrol.

Huffman called a border wall “essential to gaining operational control.”

“The fact is, when it comes to border security, the border wall system works,” Huffman said in a statement. “Suggestions that the Border Patrol believes otherwise are false.”

That simply isn't true. Less than 1/2 of 1% of border agents even mentioned a wall when asked how best to secure the SW border.

Seems all that border agents want is more technology (drones, 4x4 vehicles and detection gear) and more boots on the ground.

Seems Trump is wrong about the border "emergency" like he is wrong about everything. What else is new?

Iwo Jima.

After 9 months of continuous aerial bombardment and naval shelling one of the largest US Naval armadas ever assembled plastered Iwo Jima with everything they had.

22,000 Japanese emerged from their tunnels virtually unscathed.

Even after 21,000 Japanese casualties and 6,800 US Marines killed, it took 3 years for the last Japanese LT to surrender.

There is no substitute for boots on the ground.

That is all Trump does, lie and whine. He values nothing but money. He doesn't have a normal set of human values. He lied to our troops, waited 2 years before visiting the troops and only did so because of the enormouse negative press, he had to be shamed into it. Then uses the troops to lie to them and whine about his personal grievances.

The only thing Trump has said he "loves" are the stupid people who follow him and even then we see the negative effects of job losses, stock market losses, farmers losing in the tariff "wars" who needed to be bailed out, the coal jobs that still never came back, the steel companies that never did "expand", the government shutdown that hurts workers and our troops.

Even if Trump openly stated he hates his base and is doing this to them purposely, they will deny it and forgive him. Trump knows full well that his base is stupid enough to support him no matter what he does, no matter how horrible the policy, no matter how horrible the outcomes, they blindly pledge their loyalty to him and he know it.

If a following is so blind and entrenched in believing in Trump he could care less that every move he makes hurts them, he enjoys hurting them knowing they will allow it to happen gladly.
