Tel Aviv Pilots Sidewalk Traffic Lights for Pedestrians Who Can’t Get Their Eyes Off Their Phones

New pedestrian street lights have recently been installed on the pavements of a major intersection of Ibn Gabirol Street, one of the city’s busiest traffic routes. The move is part of a pilot program, which the city intends to expand to additional junctions in the future, according to a statement released by the city Wednesday.

I thought the reason for it was to alert the cellphone zombies that they're going to walk onto the road.
Since most of the phones have GPS shouldn't the phone alert them when they're about to step into a road. If I knew how I'd make an APP for that and make a billion dollars.
What we need is an app that walks them off a cliff.
Hopefully your statement was about all cellphone zombies everywhere and not just where that installation is located.
The problem with this is you can't afford to do this on every corner in every town so the people in this area will get so used to these lights that they'll get killed if they ever visit a area without them.
Oh common. It's thinning of the herd; survival of the fittest; or natural selection. Cell phone zombies are a menace to society.
Next thing you know they will have moving sidewalks that will stop at all intersections; so they don't have to think at all.
