Earth is a marble in this scale model solar system in the desert
You probably know that our solar system is big . But do you have a grasp on just how big it really is? No.
A filmmaker and his buddies went to a dried-up lakebed in Nevada to do just that. The vast expanse of the Black Rock Desert gave the crew the space needed to construct a to-scale model of the solar system. In their fantastic model, the Earth is only the size of a small marble. Even then, seven miles of open space was needed to show the entire solar system from the Sun to Neptune (sorry, Pluto).
The model itself is something to behold, but thankfully there's a wonderfully-shot video to accompany it. If there's one takeaway from it all, it's that there's a whole lot of nothing out there.

Cool...
Thanks. That was pretty good. Now for the universe scale model. Makes you feel kind of small with the solar system. The nearest solar system to us is Alpha Centauri which is 4.37 light years away. Now that would be some scale. I guess the earth would have to be the size of a quark and that probably wouldn't do the trick.
Alpha Centauri
I imagine that the guys who did this must have had an absolute blast!
Just watching their antics gives me a vicarious joy...
To paraphrase Martin Brody... "Gonna need a bigger desert..."
Religion is a human interpretation of God's wishes. The Bible, the Koran, the Buddhist scritptures, the Torah, all written by man claiming to be divinely inspired or enlightened. If they were the strict "word of God" they would all say the same thing.
You would think atheists would have figured that out by now.
Neat! Thanks for posting it!
Actually there are micro-organisms that have a vested interest in that .
