2 Out Of Three U.S. Voters Say Trump Economy Has Not Helped Them Personally

S E E D E D   C O N T E N T

A new Financial Times survey shows 2 out of 3 Americans say that either they are worse off in the Trump economy , or nothing has changed under his direction.

The only group in the FT survey that reported they think they are better off financially since Trump took office are white men.

http%3A%2F%2Fcom.ft.imagepublish.upp-pro

Among white women, almost as many say their financial situation has become worse under Trump as say it has become better.

These results would seem to belie the Trumpian claim that the economy is the "greatest ever" .  At the most, only 1 in 3 Americans seem to believe that. At least as it effects themselves.

Americans who say they are financially better off under Donald Trump’s presidency are overwhelmingly white men, despite the president’s claims that “almost everyone” has felt the benefits of US economic growth since he took office. The sharp ethnic and gender differences over Mr Trump’s economic performance, revealed in a new poll of likely voters for the Financial Times and the Peter G Peterson Foundation, underscore the challenges facing the president as he seeks re-election and the uphill battle for Democrats in winning back the votes of white men who helped propel Mr Trump’s 2016 victory. The recent caucuses in Iowa pointed to the importance Democrats have placed on peeling working-class whites from the president’s column. https://www.ft.com/content/c5bdccda-42f6-11ea-a43a-c4b328d9061c

Two days ago you brought us Trump stooges from off the street, presenting them in the light of honesty. How am I to believe that this random sampling is lucid enough to critique economic policy - or even understand the difference among tax withheld, tax owed, and refund?

Hell, I know everyone in my neck of the woods all say the same thing too.   I'd like to know if these polls are actually done here in America or in say, Mexico, or Guatemala, or if here are they done in prisons?

They just "Poll" Democrat/Liberal/Progressive/Lemming types. They probably ask two or three "Conservative" types out of the thousand, so they don't get a result of 100 % agree. That would be a weird result. jrSmiley_91_smiley_image.gif

So, you saw absolutely no difference between what you paid in the year before and after the tax cuts went into effect?   Your final tax bill was the same?

And why was your friend paying more?  Was he/she unable to deduct exorbitant local and state taxes beyond the allowed limits?

No, no difference. As a matter of fact, our refund was much smaller. I don't know why "my friend" paid more. He;s not a friend, BTW, just a co-woker

I didn't ask you about your REFUND.

I asked you if your final federal tax liability was the same as the year prior to the tax cuts as after.

In other words did you have a federal tax liability of (discussion purposes only) $100 before the tax cut and $100 after the cut or was the after cut liability less than $100?  And if it WAS more, was your Adjusted Gross Taxable income identical for both years or post tax cut did you EARN more?

Except for some people I know in HIGH TAX states like New York, everyone else got appreciably lower federal tax liabilities.  Those in NY who could not deduct the full amount of their State and local taxes and were limited to I believe it's $10,000 as opposed to one friend of my brother who was pissed he couldn't deduct the $60,000 property tax bill any more.  (A reason he's apparently leaving NY for a tax friendlier area by the way.)

And here's what JR hopes people don't see, directly from the linked article:

The most recent FT-Peterson poll was conducted online by Global Strategy Group, a Democratic polling company, and North Star Opinion Research, a Republican group, between January 21 and January 26. It reflects the opinions of 1,004 likely voters nationwide, and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.

So, did each company use the exact same verbiage in their questions?  Did each company use randomly selected areas to "poll" or were specific areas selected?  Who compiled the final results of both companies and were the numbers from each selectively chosen.  Curious minds want to know

Hardly.  I simply asked some questions.

Besides, as I've always said.  Polls are about as useful as used toilet paper.   The polling entity can provide the paid for result demanded by the way the question is worded and the areas polled.

That's right.  When you look up Global Strategy Group, you find screen after screen of links, but only 3 or 4 links when you do the same for North Star Opinion Research.  And Bill Burton was the managing director and he was also Obama's Deputy Press Secretary and basically started Priorities USA Action   These are nothing but Public Relation Firms posing as Polling Firms.

The Republican one is minuscule compared to the Democrat firm and in today's world they all want Trump out of there, because he's rocking their boat and they don't like it.  Like I said the media elected Obama and is trying to elect the next President this time, but the people elected Trump in spite of the media.

And by the way, the lady in the article who said this would be the first time she would be voting for a Democrat, but after seeing how Trump separated children from their parents and put them in cages, she just couldn't stand that.  This is probably what she saw, but she didn't notice the date.  Don't worry, there are plenty more.  This one will do.

That and the tidbit about the lady who couldn't take Trump separating the children from their parents.  And think about this.  The article didn't say anything about cages as I mistakenly said above, so I guess all these children came over by themselves.  Not likely.  Of course there was no writing on the originals with Jeb.

The date is not the date of the photo above, but the article date.  You have to ask yourselves, why did they have to use race and why did they have to put the crap in the article about the woman who couldn't vote for Trump now.  Media Bias Fact Check says these people are the least biased.  Can you believe that?  That has to be biased in itself.

I find this entirely believable since nearly 44% of Americans already paid no net Federal Income Tax as of 2016.

So a Federal Income Tax rebate would not have directly helped those folks in the least.

My healthcare went up 21%    I get hammered in taxes on my first pay raise this year which should have been fairly good and it turned out to only be about 80 bucks more in my check.  Now I'm terrified how my 2nd scheduled raise is going to be raided because that one is more substantial.

I make a good living but under this President I have not benefited.  I've gotten screwed.  Normally I wouldn't mind getting taxed to help those less fortunate but I'm probably paying for the top 1% and old as phuck trump supporters and their medicare/medicaid/SS subsidies.

Republicans were never going to "help them", any more than Trump was going to "help them". They have dropped the mask and are raiding the coffers, conning their base as usual and helping themselves to unbridled power, un-American power, and corrupt power.

What I got from the Trump tax break.

I got a $5.00 US raise in income during 2019. and got 130.00 US less in Fed return than 2018 Fed, and 20.00 US less in State return.

Yeppers....Trump's tax break sure has helped the middle class and Seniors. /s

Getting a smaller tax return is a good thing.  It indicates that your employer was taking less in taxes and helping you keep more of YOUR income in your pocket.  Unless of course, you like giving the government an interest free loan using your money all year long.

Yeppers....Trump's tax break sure has helped the middle class and Seniors. /s

It sure has.  Most are actually taking more home every week than they previously were and having a LOWER total federal tax liability for the taxable year.  It shouldn't be that difficult to understand.

No.  The Trump Economy is a mirage.  US economy is currently experiencing an eleven year growth rate.  Trump is riding that wave.  Unfortunately, it will also be Trump that brings it to an end.  Every business or enterprise he had a hand in has failed.  For the past decade and a half at least Trump and Trump businesses have been floated with outside cash from sources which have not yet been determined.  Public debt is increasing quickly.  Private debt has reached levels not seen since the 1920s.  Cities and states are strapped for cash, being forced to raise revenues through taxes, fees and service cuts.  Trump's economy, like everything else he touches is a Ponzi Scheme.

This too.  The Stock Market has attained historic highs.  A closer look at that should make people and investors to wonder this----Based on What?

No.  The Trump Economy is a mirage.

To some.  Yes.  To others, no.

US economy is currently experiencing an eleven year growth rate.  Trump is riding that wave.

So then the claim that it was all the doing of Obama is bullshit then also.  Thank you for acknowledging that.

Unfortunately, it will also be Trump that brings it to an end.

Only to those who suffer from vitriolic hatred of Donald Trump.

Every business or enterprise he had a hand in has failed.

Every business?  Would you care to name EVERY business that Trump is or ever has been involved with?  Exaggerate much?

For the past decade and a half at least Trump and Trump businesses have been floated with outside cash from sources which have not yet been determined.

And you know this how exactly?   Or are you simply peering into that crystal ball for information?

Public debt is increasing quickly.

Yes it most certainly is.  The federal government has a severe spending problem.

Private debt has reached levels not seen since the 1920s.

Have you ever considered that there are a hell of a lot more people in this country now than there was in the 1920's?   Plus everything costs much more.  Hell, the last mortgage I had and that is in this decade was for over ten times the amount on my first mortgage.  I guess it's rocket science to some.

Cities and states are strapped for cash, being forced to raise revenues through taxes, fees and service cuts.

And that is the fault of who exactly?  Can you say the elected officials of those cities and states?  It's easy for politicians to make promises that someone else has to pay for.

Trump's economy, like everything else he touches is a Ponzi Scheme.

Congratulations.  You've discovered the secret government uses to placate the masses.  As I noted above, it's easy for politicians to make promises others have to pay for.  And then thay also turn around and make promises to unions they know they'll be long gone before those promises are called.

This too.  The Stock Market has attained historic highs.  A closer look at that should make people and investors to wonder this----Based on What?

Hell, that's nothing new.  If that's news to you, where have you been for the last 50 or so years?   I asked that decades ago.   As opposed to say a Ford Motor Company, what exactly does Google have to back it's valuation?  Ford had brick and mortar property, inventory, equipment and the like that can be seized and disposed of if necessary in a bankruptcy.  What does Google have?  A shit load of servers in data centers.  Yet Google has a much higher valuation than Ford.   WHY?
