Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, one of Bernie Sanders’ most prominent surrogates, says   she will vote for Joe Biden if he is the Democratic nominee   and urged Democratic voters to unite when the primary process is done."I've said throughout this entire process that what is so important is that we ultimately unite behind who that Democratic nominee is," she said during an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers Thursday evening. She wants the same commitment from Biden supporters should Sanders get the nomination. "I think it's a two-way street. I've been concerned by some folks that say if Bernie's the nominee they won't support him and the other way around," she continued. "Right now, November, you know, this is more important than all of us and we really need to make sure that we defeat Donald Trump at the polls assuming—and knowing—how insane it's going to get between now and then."

It is going to be insane. Senate Republicans are already sharpening their hearing knives for but-her-email redux on Biden and Burisma. It would be very helpful if Reps. Adam Schiff and Jerry Nadler, along with Speaker Nancy Pelosi, took a walk over to the Senate to talk to Lindsey Graham and Richard Burr to have a little discussion about the myriad hearings that could be taking place in the House if necessary, but don't count on it.

We also know that the Russians are at it again , that "Russia-linked social media accounts are posting about the same divisive issues—race relations, gun laws and immigration—as they did in 2016." They've also gotten better, and trickier, at it says University of Wisconsin-Madison professor Young Mie Kim. Kim’s research concerns media and politics in the age of data-driven digital media. "For normal users, it is too subtle to discern the differences," Kim said. "By mimicking domestic actors, with similar logos (and) similar names, they are trying to avoid verification."

So the message AOC is sending is particularly important, and it's fantastic that she's the one saying it. There's far too much at stake for a 2016 repeat.

Agree or disagree with her politics, hers' is already a voice that cannot be ignored...uncommon for a first-term congresswoman.

The level of invective directed her way only confirms her importance....examples surely to follow and only confirming the assertion.

I dont agree with everything she says, although I do with her basic premise that she wants to help working class people have better lives.

AOC has charisma, and that is half the battle in politics. I am sure she will be a force in US politics for a long time to come.

Agreed. A generational change is needed and she is at the forefront. Her call to support whomever emerges as the Dem opponent is a clarion call for all those who desire to end the incumbent's tenure.

I doubt she will be on the scene for more than one term. Most sane and rational people on both sides of the aisle just cannot put up with her whacked out socialist rhetoric!

I don't know Ed, there are certain congressional districts scattered across this country that are pretty much set in stone that one party or the other is guaranteed victory.

For every AOC in the Bronx/Queens, there is a Steve King in Iowa or a Debbie Lesko and Paul Gosar here in AZ. They are all representatives to their respective constituencies and the rhetoric may seem antithetical to the opposition, but it resonates to those who cast the votes.

Come to think of it, you are right. I forgot about the likes of Raul Grijalva. That is one guy our state can definitely do without! Talk about a pandering special interest kind of guy that has homesteaded in DC for far too long.

I was never one to propose term limits in the past, always thinking the ballot box was the ultimate arbiter of effectiveness.

In today's reality, I think they may become  necessary...if only to dissuade the enabling of a career politician whose self-interest supersedes those whose interests he/she is purported to represent.

Too bad you feel that way since he has sponsored many bills that support and help NA's in AZ and nationwide.

Are you aware that he is also pro open borders as well as very much pro illegal immigrant rights and privileges. The majority of people who do not live in AZ are not aware of that. I am aware of his record on NA issues, but I balance that against his record in other areas. Sorry if we disagree but we will have to just agree to disagree if so. Have a good day Sir.

I'm aware of his policies and I don't agree with all of them but NA issues are quite important to me.

You must be happy that the border wall is being built through the Tohono O'odham reservation. But screw all the treaties and native sovereignty issues.

I always have a good day.

Cheers.

Please state where you have ever heard me say anything about the wall through the Tohono O'odham reservation or any others because I have not! I may be pro wall, but not that particular aspect of it. There are always exceptions and the nations are one and have every right to determine whether said wall goes through their areas or not, and their decisions must be abided by. I firmly believe that no matter what you may think.

Cheers to you as well.

That's good that you believe that the Nations have the right to prohibit a wall from being built. Sadly the administration doesn't seem to give a shit about native rights in the form of the wall or any other rights that we may have.

Add in the old delusional dysfunctional white male incumbent and you must agree that it is time for a generational change, lest we allow the dysfunction to continue to swirl the drain...

Ocasio Cortez is smart, savvy and understands how to 'shift the direction of the wind' in the American electorate.  She will be Speaker of the House in due time.

Not  in our lifetimes

A large majority of the American people aren't buying what she and her ilk are trying to sell.

The Corona virus will mitigate that problem.   The oldies are doomed if this thing doesn't get contained.   There goes the gop base.  And a few of us who think the gop sucks, but at least the young will have an opportunity to fix it all.

Neither Biden nor Sanders has a clue as to how to "fix" things.

They would make all the country's problems worse.
