FBI director Wray: Russia 'very active' in 2020 election disruption
Russia is focusing on denigrating Joe Biden, FBI Director Chris Wray said. He also said antifa is not a terror organization but an ideology.

We look back at history and ask: Will they do it again?

Less than two months before the presidential election, FBI Director Chris Wray told lawmakers Thursday that Russia remains "very active" in its effort to disrupt the vote, primarily by denigrating Democratic nominee Joe Biden.

"The intelligence community's consensus is that Russia continues to try to influence our election," Wray told the House Homeland Security Committee, adding that the Kremlin's effort has focused on sowing discord and disparaging the candidacy of the former vice president.

Wray's assessment tracked an earlier analysis published in August by the National Counter-Intelligence and Security Center, which called out pro-Russia Ukrainian parliamentarian Andriy Derkach for spreading false corruption claims to undermine Biden's bid and the Democratic Party.

"Some Kremlin-linked actors are also seeking to boost President Donald Trump's candidacy on social media and Russian television," the the counter-intelligence analysis concluded.

The earlier report also concluded that China viewed Trump as "unpredictable" and prefers that he not win re-election, while noting that Iran was working to foment division and undermine Trump in advance of the November election.

"We will not tolerate foreign interference in our election," the FBI director said Thursday.

Wray also addressed recent violence that has shadowed social justice demonstrations prompted by police-involved shootings.

While Wray said that a majority of the demonstrations have been "peaceful," he acknowledged that the FBI had opened a number of investigations into suspects who have been drawn to violent extremist agendas, from those who have identified with the far left anti-fascist movement known as antifa to racially-motivated groups and militia organizations.

"Antifa is a real thing," Wray said, adding that the bureau regards it more as a "movement" or ideology rather than an actual terror group or organization.

Where did I state Russia in not interfering?

Why is the left ignoring China and Iran? Neither are our allies; and both are backing Biden heavily and interfering with our election as well.

TDS is being taken advantage of by both countries.

"The intelligence community's consensus is that Russia continues to try to influence our election,"

They've been doing so for decades now. It's not illegal and there is no way to make it stop. Any nation, state, publication, or person that chooses to denigrate, demean, and demonize Biden and Harris has my blessings

So what did he have to say about China, Iran, Europe, and the rest of the world that are pumping money into Democratic PACs and doing their own disruption of our election?

Russia is backing  Donald Trump , China is supporting Joe Biden and Iran is seeking to sow chaos in the US presidential election, a top intelligence official has warned in a sobering assessment of foreign meddling.

“We assess that China prefers that President Trump – whom Beijing sees as unpredictable – does not win re-election,” Evanina said. “China has been expanding its influence efforts ahead of November 2020 to shape the policy environment in the United States, pressure political figures it views as opposed to China’s interests, and deflect and counter criticism of China.”

He added: “Beijing recognizes that all of these efforts might affect the presidential race.”

Evanina highlighted China’s criticism of Trump’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic, the closure of China’s consulate in Houston and the White House responses to Chinese actions in Hong Kong and the South China Sea. On Friday, the US imposed sanctions on Hong Kong’s chief executive, Carrie Lam, and 10 other senior officials. Trump has also ordered crackdowns on the Chinese owners of the popular apps TikTok and WeChat.

Iran , meanwhile, was seeking to undermine US democratic institutions and Trump, and to divide the country ahead of the 2020 elections, Evanina’s statement said.

“Iran’s efforts along these lines probably will focus on on-line influence, such as spreading disinformation on social media and recirculating anti-US content. Tehran’s motivation to conduct such activities is, in part, driven by a perception that President Trump’s reelection would result in a continuation of US pressure on Iran in an effort to foment regime change.”

American intelligence officials issued a public warning on Friday that China was “expanding its influence efforts” in the United States ahead of the presidential election, along with Russia and Iran, but Democrats briefed on the matter said the threat was far more urgent than what the administration described.

The warning came from William R. Evanina, the director of the National Counterintelligence and Security Center, in a statement 100 days before Americans go to the polls. “We’re primarily concerned with China, Russia and Iran — although other nation-states and nonstate actors could also do harm to our electoral process,” the statement said.

The warning about China came at a moment of extraordinary tension between Beijing and Washington, only days after the United States indicted two Chinese hackers on charges of stealing intellectual property, including for the country’s main intelligence service, and evicted Chinese diplomats from their consulate in Houston.

The intelligence warning on Friday did not accuse the Chinese of trying to hack the vote; instead it said they were using their influence “to shape the policy environment in the United States” and to pressure politicians “it views as opposed to China’s interests.”

Russia and China have denied the reports. On Friday Dmitry Peskov, a spokesman for President Vladimir Putin, said the Kremlin had never tried to interfere in other countries' elections.

Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said Microsoft "should not make accusations against China out of nothing".

Microsoft also reported that Chinese groups had launched attacks on the personal email accounts of people affiliated with the Biden campaign, as well as "at least one prominent individual formerly associated with the Trump Administration".

"Prominent individuals" in the international affairs community, academic institutions and policy organisations were also said to have been targeted by a Chinese hacking group known as Zirconium.

An Iranian group known as Phosphorus had unsuccessfully sought to access accounts of White House officials and Mr Trump's campaign staff between May and June of this year, Microsoft added.

The firm was unable to determine the aims of the Russian, Chinese and Iranian hackers. In June Google also said it had detected cyber-hack attempts by China and Iran.

Russia, Russia, Russia. Whatever happened to Obama's "The cold war is over. Get a new foreign policy." BS?

Keep focusing only on Russia and the rest of the world will be more than happy to stab us in the back.

Reality is far different than left wing TDS fiction.

Director Wray answered all of the questions he was asked. He is Director of the FBI after all. Dismiss his warnings of Russian interference. I choose not to...

Or, deflect deflect deflect if you can't handle truths!

2.1.1  Ronin2  replied to  JBB @2.1    one month ago

Or ignore reality; that Russia is single small player in this game.

China and Iran our not our allies; both are backing Biden heavily. Democrats are ignoring both completely; because they want the help. Their TDS blinds them to the danger.

That is not what FBI Director Wray says and I believe he knows a lot more about it than you!

2.1.3  Ronin2  replied to  JBB @2.1.2    one month ago

Read the damn links- officials from other government agencies outside the TDS driven FBI are stating multiple countries are trying to influence and disrupt our elections.

Democrats are stuck on Russia, Russia, Russia. Think China and Iran aren't expecting something in return for aiding Biden?

Russia is trying to interfere in our elections:

Russian created a fake left wing left wing propaganda site to attack America and Trump.

"Articles that PeaceData appears to have commissioned from genuine English-speaking writers portrayed Trump as unreliable, meddling in the International Criminal Court, rigging the 2020 election, and “unstable and unhinged.”

The funny thing about it is when the Russians wanted to attack and sow discord in America, they just stole the work of left wing journalists, who are doing their work for them.
