(CNN)A total of 172 immigrants were arrested across six sanctuary cities within a six-day span, according to the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
The arrests were made in Baltimore, Denver, New York, Philadelphia, Seattle and Washington, DC, between October 3-9, according to a statement. The operation focused on people who were already facing deportation and "were arrested for crimes but were released by state or local law enforcement agencies despite having active immigration detainers in place," the statement said. More than 80% of those arrested "had criminal convictions or pending criminal charges at the time of arrest." According to ICE spokesman Miguel Alvarez, the breakdown of the arrests included: Read More

"The Department will continue to carry out lawful enforcement actions in order to keep our communities safe, regardless of whether or not we have cooperation from state and local officials," said Chad Wolf, acting secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, of which ICE is part of. "Politics will not come before safety when enforcing the law and keeping our citizens safe," Wolf said. In the run-up to the November 3 election, ICE and DHS have amplified its criticism of jurisdictions that limit cooperation between local law enforcement and federal immigration authorities. The criticism coincides with a message that the Trump administration has spent the better part of four years pushing.

Well, it looks like one government agency is still functioning properly.
So what?
“A total of 172 immigrants were arrested across six sanctuary cities”
notice how cnn calls them “immigrants”? No cnn, they are not “immigrants”, they are illegal immigrants.
I wonder how many were arrested in red cities. The number here, 172, just isn't very impressive, compared to the hordes that our President keeps harping on.
Either ICE is asleep, or there aren't really very many arrests to be made.
I think the clearest thing is that COVID cut 40% to 50% of the activity, period.
Good data.
The seed's headline is nonsense.
What exactly in this is nonsense to you?
"ICE Arrests 172 Immigrants In Sanctuary Cities Within A Six-Day Span - CNN"
Is ICE nonsense?
Is arresting illegal aliens nonsense?
Are sanctuary cities nonsense?
Is a 6-day span nonsense?
Why?
I am always happy when illegal alien criminals are arrested and deported.
Every American should be.
I am too. I’ve been in construction 40 years. I remember when job sites were staffed by Americans. I see the effects of illegal immigration everyday at work.
Usually the people who act like illegal immigration is no problem live in the white collar world. They don’t see the effects, therefore it must not be a problem. And anybody that doesn’t like it must be racist or xenophobic, or both. BS.
The only people who benefit are business owners who pay low wages and politicians who see them as a future voter bloc. Blue collar and low wage American workers are the ones who pay and some seem to be ok with that.
I have a very hard time understanding why any American would support illegal immigration.
It simply makes no sense.
Look at the data in the seed, Tex.
You believe that you should be a model for every American?
Wow...
Why do companies hire undocumented immigrants? Because they work cheap.
How to fix this? We've tried for decades to eliminate the workers, without success. We've tried (not very hard) to punish the hiring companies, also without success.
The reality is, of course, that there are very powerful (that is to say rich) people who are very happy to have cheap labor. These very powerful (rich) people prevent the obvious solution:
Stop exploiting the immigrants. Pay workers for what they do, rather than the pittance they must accept.
I did. Does it change the fact that illegal aliens are staying here illegally, or does it mean they shouldn't be arrested and deported?
Read again, slowly. Look at the words. Think about what the words mean.
i said nothing about being a model for every American.
try arguing what I write instead of what you project, mmmkay?
Those questions have nothing to do with either the seed or my Comment.
Hmmmmm...................
then fucking ignore them.
yes hmmmmm....why are people advocating for illegal aliens to stay?
You’ve addressed the greedy business owners that i mentioned but didn’t say a word about the politicians that see them as a future voting bloc. That is a problem as well.
I don't understand.
