Kamala Harris Tears Trump Apart For 'Playing Around' As Americans Continue To Die On His Watch
Harris said that the silver lining is that the American people will have a chance to turn the page on Donald Trump in just 20 days.

That has got to hurt. She is just saying what  everyone is thinking...

S E E D E D   C O N T E N T

During an interview with MSNBC's Rachel Maddow on Wednesday night, Democratic vice presidential nominee Kamala Harris tore Donald Trump apart for "playing around" as thousands of Americans continue to die of COVID-19.

"We know more people are going to die. We know many more people are going to contract this virus," Sen. Harris said. "It doesn't help when there's a president of the United States … who still is playing around with people, playing around with facts, with bravado, taking the stage and suggesting that he is now immune."

The California senator said that the silver lining is that the American people will have a chance to turn the page on Donald Trump in just 20 days.

"Thank god that we have an election coming up right now, because can you imagine if we had to deal with two more years of him?" she said.

Sen. Harris said:

We know more people are going to die. We know many more people are going to contract this virus, and it doesn't help when there's a president of the United States, who is also the commander in chief, who still is playing around with people, playing around with facts, with bravado, taking the stage and suggesting that he is now immune and saying to people who have contracted the virus or those who may that, you know, yet again he's going back to a theme he's been pushing from the beginning, which is to suggest people shouldn't take this thing seriously. And thank god that we have an election coming up right now because can you imagine if we had to deal with two more years of him? And so we have an election, and the American people have a clear contrast. On the one hand, there is Joe Biden, who since March has been saying that the plan that he has had in mind should be implemented. Joe Biden, who has been modeling the right behavior in terms of wearing a mask. Meanwhile, Donald Trump took the debate stage and made fun of him and then later, of course, we know what happened. So I think about where we are now, and I think at the very least, the American people have light at the end of the tunnel, and there is a plan that they are aware of that can be implemented. And the way that it will be implemented is if over the next 20 days, people vote, they vote early. I invite people to go to joebiden.com. Go to iwillvote.com and make sure that you know where your polling place is and if you can vote early. It is within our power to change the trajectory of this, and I am fully confident that people will do that.

Only one of the two major party tickets is taking this virus seriously

Just about every public opinion poll shows that the number one issue in this election is the pandemic.

At a time of crisis, the American people are looking to their leaders for solutions on getting control of the virus, rebuilding the crushed economy and restoring some sense of normalcy to their daily lives.

Only one of the two major party tickets - Joe Biden and Kamala Harris - has taken the virus seriously. Not only has Biden spent the last seven months laying out his plans to tackle the pandemic, but his campaign has modeled responsible behavior like mask wearing and social distancing.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump, his administration and his campaign have refused to take this virus seriously from day one. Even after catching the virus himself, the president has been spewing dangerous lies and holding superspreader rallies.

As Kamala Harris said on Wednesday night, the fastest way for the American people to end this national nightmare is to turn out in massive numbers over the next 15 days.

We need leadership. Kamala Harris is qualified...

We surely are not getting any from Trump's Lot.

I'm curious what she thinks he should be doing differently? I'm also curious if she thinks anything he has done has been helpful. Would she admit it?

and suggesting that he is now immune.

Actually, as far as he is concerned, he probably is - at least for a few months as near as they can tell.

Not golfing all the time would be a good start. Mask mandate, increased testing...you know, all the shit that would help to prevent the spread of Covid. Trump won't even do a mask mandate. He is worthless and he has only made the pandemic worse.

OK, but all president's recreate. I don't mind it. I'm bothered more about all the time Trump wastes on Twitter than I am about what is probably a good mental and physical break at the golf course.

Mask mandate

Hey I'm pro-mask. I plan on wearing mine out in the world until I get the full dose of vaccine. I wish people would wear masks more (and more effectively), but is there scientific grounds for mandating it everywhere? Is there a place where a federal mandate is necessary now because there isn't a state or local mandate in place? Would it even be constitutional?

And even where there are mandates now, people don't always wear them. What should our response be? You want to arrest them? Fine them in a time when money is already tight? Jail them? Should we break up families over mask wearing? Is this even what cops and courts should be focused on?

It's fine if you think we should do all that. It's just that I hear people say "mask mandate" but I don't think people think about the implications of that.

increased testing

Testing is increasing all the time. Is it possible to do significantly more? Testing materials need to be manufactured. Tests need to be processed and we already have results backing up. And then who would you test that we aren't testing now?

I went to the Biltmore Estate s few weeks ago.

I didn't know the parking area was a real forest hike to the front of the mansion and then a couple of hundred yards more.

By the time I arrived at the front door I was sweating and my masked had dropped down a fraction.

The docents were kind but firm, keep it pinched over the nose completely or leave, thanks.

($64.00 admission?)

By the time I climbed 5 floors and toured each floor plus the basement bowing lanes and swimming pools,

and hiked back to car, I hated that friggin mask, lol.

Trump won't even do a mask mandate.

The American people would simply ignore it, including a lot of left wingers.

If they're coming up with new cases, that means a lot of testing is going on

Actually most left wingers wear masks. Whenever there is a dispute about wearing masks, it's almost always a trump supporter that is complaining. That's just a fact.

Tests do not cause people to get covid.

Thanks Mr. Obvious.

It means they are detecting more cases

My doctor says to to not get tested unless I have symptoms.

Yeah, I have a lot of sympathy for people who have to do physically demanding jobs all day long. If I was working up a sweat, I wouldn't want to wear the thing, either. Some people are wearing them to the gym. I can't even imagine that.

The other thing that sucks is if you have to wear glasses. It's almost impossible, it seems, to keep them from fogging up.

I would love to see him behave differently in a number of ways. I'd like to think it would help, but I have seen Americans do and say a lot of crazy things this year. It's cynical, but I think an awful lot of our Covid numbers might be a reflection of who we are as a people.

How about leading by example and wearing his mask and not having so many rallies that turn out to be superspreaders?

Look at that fiasco in the Rose Garden when he announced his newest SC justice

I think that's fair. I don't know how much of a difference it would make, but I do suspect that if he had embraced masks by wearing them publicly earlier, it might have influenced some people. Or not. There has been a lot of wreckless behavior that I don't think necessarily has a direct connection to Trump.

Do people really draw their cues from the president (any president) that much in these times? In the Great Depression or WWII maybe, but now? To cite just a couple examples, is Trump the reason thousands of college kids still swarmed the beaches for Spring Break? Is Trump the reason that big mansions in L.A. are hosting huge parties? The people at these things don't really seem like his core constituency.

No

Is Trump the reason that big mansions in L.A. are hosting huge parties?

No

Those things are just the selfish and self-centeredness inherent in our society since the Me Generation.

The only thing we need Trump to do is resign.  This afternoon would be a good time.
