Something Happening Here, What It Is Ain't Exactly Clear
Item - Texas to break all state records for voter turnout
According to data from the Texas Secretary of State, as of October 28, there have been at least 8,449,858 cumulative in-person and mail-in ballots cast during the state's early voting period.
In comparison, throughout the entire 2016 presidential election, data from the Texas Secretary of State show at least 8,969,226 total votes cast.
The number of early votes submitted in Texas thus far means the state has already reported 94.2 percent of its total 2016 voter turnout,
Texas will soon go over 9 million votes cast, if it hasnt already. It is expected that by the end of Tuesday, over 11 million votes will have been cast in that state, the most ever.
Who does this favor? Democratic organizers say that 2/3 of new voters are hispanic, and those voters will break 60/40 for Biden. The 3 1/2 million new Texas voters since 2016 would appear to be an assistance to Joe Biden's chances of carrying the Lone Star state.
Never Trumper Charlie Sykes said on his podcast today that if the Democrats carry Texas that will be the end of the Republican Party as we know it.
It's going to be tense. Bloomberg is funneling money into Texas so tv ads can be run for the next 5 days.
If Texas sets the record, Biden will win handily--and it isn't even in question, according to our liberal experts.
Isn't that the claim?
And isn't that applicable everywhere in America that has record turnout?
Just count the votes.
That would be a beautiful thing, indeed.
Some people would say it was the end of The Republican Party when trump was nominated. But when he's finally our of power it will revert to the true republican Party as we know it.
Hedge the bet.
gee, wasn't it JUST the "END OF THE REPUBLICAN PARTY" as recently as 2008, when we were told the GOP is dead and wouldn't see the WH or any majorities for 20 years at least?
Gee, the "END OF THE REPUBLICAN PARTY" and "the end of the Republican Party as we know it" are two different things.
Gee, "the end of the Republican Party as we know it" would mean a party that doesn't win any elections.
A dead party in other words.
Doesn't matter, every few years some yahoos declare the GOP dead, get liberals all in a tizzy, and then get bitch-slapped back to reality during an election or two.
No worries!
Where does Sykes say that? For Sykes, it means the end of the Trumpist Republican Party and either a restoration of the Republican Party in which he spent his life as a member, or a transformation to a new model. The Republican Party before Trump won plenty of elections and likely will in the future. Unless, of course, you mean that only a Trumpist Republican Party is capable of winning elections.
A dead Trumpist Republican Party is a much desired outcome.
Read my post. I didn't claim he stated that.
If I meant to say that, then that is what I would have stated.
See how easy that is?
I don't know if it's by law or culture but I can't say I ever saw a political sign that identifies the person being promoted as Dem, Indy or GOP.
It makes one read all of the signs and who is running for what offices locally and statewide. 9 times out of 10 there not even in my voting district.
Made several 2 hour trips around greater Ft Worth from Haltom up to Grapevive and out to Mckinney. Lots of unincorporated corners covered with ads for everyone you can possibly think of except one person.
Maybe it doesn't mean anything, but these corners were covered with Trump signs and flags 4 years ago. This year? Is the lack of emotion a sign?
Maybe, but if you were to ride out east towards Athens, Corsican or Tyler you'll start seeing them. Who knows?
All I can say is that my neighborhood looked like a trump rally in 2016 for 6 weeks before and a month afterwards.
Now nothing.
It's creepy.
But we'll be in Navarro County over the weekend, we will check them out.
Buffalo Springfield could be writing and singing that about today..
Maybe the Republican party should have chosen a different candidate in the first place. Tom Paxton wrote and sang a song - its first line so applicable for the Republican party...
It's all about demographics. States, be they red or blue change over time.
