Trump to boycott Biden's inauguration and won't even invite him for White House visit - report
Outgoing president will not even invite successor to White House

Donald Trump does not intend to go to Joe Biden's inauguration as president in January, according to a report.

And the outgoing president will not even invite Mr Biden and Dr Jill Biden to the White House ahead of the 20 January event, according to NBCNews.

Mr Trump was invited to the White House by then president Barack Obama after his surprise defeat of Hillary Clinton in 2016.

And Mr Trump could even announce his intention to run for the White House again in 2024 on inauguration day, according to Ken Dilanian of NBC News.

"Trump may announce for 2024 on inauguration day. Either way, he won't attend the inauguration and does not plan to invite Biden to the White House or even call him," tweeted Mr Dilanian.

Mr Trump has still refused to concede his election defeat despite Mr Biden's wins having now been certified in all the battleground states.

He has falsely claimed widespread voter fraud without providing any evidence and has suffered a string of legal defeats in courtroom across the country.

The government's election cybersecurity team has called it the "most secure election in American history" and attorney general Bill Barr has said there is no evidence of fraud that would change the result.

Per my NBC News colleagues: Trump may announce for 2024 on inauguration day. Either way, he won't attend the inauguration and does not plan to invite Biden to the White House or even call him.

Mr Biden's transition team says that Mr Trump's non-attendance will make no difference to their inauguration plans, reports NBC News.

It would not be the first time a president has skipped the event if Mr Trump does not attend the swearing in of Mr Biden as his successor.

John Adams, John Quincy Adams and Andrew Johnson all did not go, and Richard Nixon did not attend Gerald Ford's swearing in after his resignation from office.

512 Is it any wonder that the once Grand Old Party of Abraham Lincoln is now known merely as the gop?

The Republican Party emerged in 1854 to combat the Kansas–Nebraska Act and the expansion of slavery into American territories. The early Republican Party consisted of northern Protestants, factory workers, professionals, businessmen, prosperous farmers, and after 1866, former black slaves. The party had very little support from white Southerners at the time, who predominantly backed the Democratic Party in the Solid South, and from Catholics, who made up a major Democratic voting block. While both parties adopted pro-business policies in the 19th century, the early GOP was distinguished by its support for the national banking system, the gold standardrailroads, and high tariffs. The party opposed the expansion of slavery before 1861 and led the fight to destroy the Confederate States of America (1861–1865). While the Republican Party had almost no presence in the Southern United States at its inception, it was very successful in the Northern United States, where by 1858 it had enlisted former Whigs and former Free Soil Democrats to form majorities in nearly every Northern state.

The Republican Party was founded in the Northern states in 1854 by forces opposed to the expansion of slavery, ex- Whigs , and ex- Free Soilers . The Republican Party quickly became the principal opposition to the dominant Democratic Party and the briefly popular Know Nothing Party . The party grew out of opposition to the Kansas–Nebraska Act , which repealed the Missouri Compromise and opened Kansas Territory and Nebraska Territory to slavery and future admission as slave states. [27] [28] The Republicans called for economic and social modernization . They denounced the expansion of slavery as a great evil, but did not call for ending it in the Southern states. The first public meeting of the general anti-Nebraska movement , at which the name Republican was proposed, was held on March 20, 1854 at the Little White Schoolhouse in Ripon, Wisconsin . [29] The name was partly chosen to pay homage to Thomas Jefferson 's Republican Party . [30] The first official party convention was held on July 6, 1854 in Jackson, Michigan . [31]

that's why WIKI is considered suspect.

The first national Republican Convention was held in February 1856 in Pittsburgh followed by a nominating convention in Philadelphia a few months later in June of '56.

So one can look at any electoral map from this past election, or really any election in the last 40 years and see that it is now the south that is solidly republican. So they switched regions but not ideologies? How does that happen, Tex?

That does not account for the ideological shift in the parties, Tex. Try again.

Typical misleading statement. Tar all with the same brush to get a point across. Not all Republicans are Trump supporters.

I expect that Trump will clog the toilets and hide dead fish throughout the premises on the way out.  Wouldn’t want to tarnish his reputation as the world’s biggest sleazebag.

No doubt that Trump will blame Biden for not allowing him to attend.

Personally, if I were Biden, I would not want him to attend either.

Nor would I.  Judging from what he's been doing, he is apt to do something to disturb the ceremony, like get up and shout "HE STOLE THE ELECTION.  I'M THE ONE WHO WON!!!!"
