Prestige Travel Magazine Once Again Names Chicago The Best Big City To Visit In America
The Best Cities in the U.S.: 2020 Readers' Choice Awards
1. Chicago
It's no wonder Chicago is topping this list again. A world-class destination known for its impressive architecture, first-rate museums, brilliant chefs, and massive brewing scene, it’ll take several repeat visits to get through your list of must-dos. Most people start with the downtown—from the Magnificent Mile, ritzy Gold Coast, and funky Old Town, not to mention the business-oriented Loop—but there are 77 neighborhoods to explore, where you'll find cutting-edge restaurants , chilled-out corner bars , and, no matter where you go, some of the most pleasant people you'll find anywhere.
What can be written about the city of Chicago that hasn’t already been said? In the past, Chicago was a hub connecting the country’s coasts, but it became a destination in its own right long ago—which is no surprise to our readers, who voted it the number one large U.S. city in our annual Readers' Choice Awards —for the fourth year in a row. Sometimes known as the Third Coast, Chicago’s 26 miles of Lake Michigan shoreline can rival some of California’s best. Don’t take our word for it: During the summer, two dozen free beaches double as the city’s living room, with locals and travelers coming to cool off, bike, and run—with friends, kids, and dogs in tow.

I love Chicago! Can't wait to go back again someday. Gino's East has the best pizza!!!!!!!!!!!!
Chicago is fun. Note - the museums entry fees are free for veterans and military. Of course the food in the cafeteria is crazy expensive - LOL!
If we painted you green you could become the ''Emerald Buddha''...
Is that you?
Yes. It's me at the Chicago Museum of Art from Oct 2019.
Love going to the Blues Clubs. Buddy Guy's on Wabash and the Bassment two of the best.
The Chicago Blues Festival in June is simply wonderful.
Love visiting the Chicago Native American Museum and the American Indian Center.
Morton's is still the best in the land.
I've been to Chicago. I didn't witness anything overly spectacular, but then again, I don't like big cities no matter which big city. I can say however, in regard to big city, I enjoyed New Orleans more than Chicago; I'd go back to NOLA for vacation, but can't say the same for Chicago.
I have never been to Chicago, but I wouldn't turn down an opportunity to visit.
What's good to eat?
If you like pizza, check out Gino's East. . .
Do I like pizza....
Is it Chicago style deep dish. I haven't had any decent deep dish in a long while
Yes! I believe Chicago invented the deep dish, I could be wrong though . . . .
They have this pizza where the sausage is really thin and covers the whole pizza . . . .I'm getting hungry just thinking about it.
My best friend and I have been several times and I have been several times with my best friend and his now husband.
We were there when 9/11 happened.
At the time we were on vacation and went on to Pittsburgh (really neat town) after that.
It was hard to enjoy after all that happened while we were there but we did our best.
I want to go but probably in the summer so I can enjoy the beaches.
Pittsburgh is a cool town
Try a Superdawg and a chocolate malt!
Chicago's still a great town to visit, if you avoid 75% of it. Of course, Murders were up 53% in a lockdown year, are up again this year, car jackings are out of control and the police aren't allowed to arrest anyone. But almost all of that happens in the areas tourists don't go to (except the carjackings) so it doesn't really matter to the machine that runs the city. Of course, with retail fleeing the nice areas, you might want to go soon before the nice areas becomes a ghost town.
You're a real Debbie Downer
We visited Chicago in mid-winter.
'Nuff said.
