Biden's Five Point Plan

Biden's Five Point Plan
“I think a lot of it ties back to this whole ‘defund the police’ movement and some of the disruption we had in civil society last year,” Nebraska Gov. Pete Ricketts said on Fox News. “And I think that’s part of, when you start undermining that basic foundation, you start breaking apart the bonds that hold us together and that’s why you see an increase in crime.”

Yesterday Joe Biden addressed the nation's escalating crime problem with a "Five Point Plan."   I can only guess at the motivation. I assume that Biden has taken note of polling and has realized, at long last, how the nation is evaluating his brief tenure when it comes to open borders, rising inflation, the push to teach CRT and last but not least the incredible rise of crime in big blue cities. Reality has struck!

Here is the plan that Biden unveiled yesterday:

  • Cracking down on gun sellers who violate federal laws, with a new zero-tolerance policy.
  • Giving additional support to local law enforcement to help with summer crime increases.
  • Investing in community violence intervention programs.
  • Expanding summer employment and services, particularly for teens and young adults.
  • Helping formerly incarcerated individuals successfully reenter their communities.

    The progressive paradox:

The problem for Biden is that the left wing (the dominant wing) of his party has him backed into an ideological corner. There is the need to blame the rising crime on things which it is not. Why? Because the fact is most murders are committed with handguns and involve high percentages of an important minority group. The criminality involved is like a third rail, which progressives can never seem to go near. So instead of saying that these criminals need to be removed from society and prosecuted, as Biden once did, and which is also contrary to progressive ideological beliefs, irrelevant objects are used. Therefore the cause must be something else like AR-15's and/or "systemic racism." The rest of us can clearly see the truth. These big blue cities aren't suffering from some kind of "White Supremacy" conspiracy, they are and have been governed by progressives.

    When will it end?

Criminals who terrorize the inner city are not stupid. They have made a cost analysis. Since late May of 2020 the consequences are well worth the risk. Until we have a Democrat who has the courage to stand up, as Hillary Clinton once did long ago, inner city criminals will continue to prey on the weak and vulnerable. Restoring our Police Departments will take an even longer time. Incredible damage has been done to them.

In the meantime, many have simply written off major cities as belonging to the left and simply avoid going there.

Its amusing to watch all these white radical conservatives try to act all compassionate about the plight of the inner city blacks.

Are you familiar with the term "the other" Vic.  What do you think it means ?

If progressives like Sheldon Whitehouse cared about inner city blacks they'd be clearing those neighborhoods of criminals. They seem to only want to pander to Blacks and keep them in danger.

No different than those white radical leftists who pretend they care about inner city blacks every election cycle....

then they disappear....until the next election cycle.

It's all a nice talking point but ultimately won't make any difference except to the hard-core supporters who will fall in line shouting slogans of support for their "hero".

Something had to be said/done. It's become another issue. I tried to show how little room Biden had politically.

Agreed.  IMO Biden has no room as all effort is on the 22 elections as the Democratic party knows it has a big problem coming up.

What I liked about his speech was the fact that he shit all over the insurrection bullshit by saying that to fight the government one would need fighter jets and nuclear weapons. Blew the rhetoric of a "take over" all to hell................

He may be right on that one.

Kristen Bell said that persuasion is the best option.

Who can argue with that.

It is good to know that fighting the federal government is impossible. Somebody should have told the protestors back in the 60's.

Enforcing federal law is bad now?

  • Giving additional support to local law enforcement to help with summer crime increases.

The exact opposite of defunding the police.

  • Investing in community violence intervention programs.

You have to have community violence or your liberal cities = bad narrative falls apart.

  • Expanding summer employment and services, particularly for teens and young adults.

Summer jobs for kids is bad?

  • Helping formerly incarcerated individuals successfully reenter their communities.

Prison sentences end.  A little investment here can really change lives.

Not sure what you want here.  What's your 5 point plan?

You do realize that this isn't the first time this type of "talk" has been laid out in one form or another right? And what are/were the results?

Let's see what happens over the next six months before all the dem/lib/liv/progressives cream their jeans over this genius

Biden feels the need for a five point distraction.  And Biden's distraction is NIMBY politics at its most refined.

The surge in crime isn't a national phenomena.  Crime is highly localized.  And that suggests that crime needs to be addressed locally.  The surge in crime isn't something that can be fixed with Big Government.

Exactly. Reminds one of the stupid assed battle for minimum wage. What's good for NY isn't necessary for Paducah KY. As such, Baltimore isn't the same as Dubuque.

Stricter gun laws, and a ban on ARs is not even a band aid, but the base either swallows the line that its a fix, or holds their noses as they push for non-measures.

Enforcing gun laws, funding the police,,,  Is Donald Trump still President?

All fine ideas and  the feds can help around the margins. Of course, as long as Democratic cities elect pro crime DAs who refuse to enforce laws at the local level where it matters most, nothing will really change.

Stop policing, stop charging people with crimes and putting them in jail and innocent people die. The slaughter in the streets shouldn't surprise anyone. It's up to the Democrats to solve the problem they created.

Also, is no going to mention how confusing and out of it Biden was?
