Sidney Powell Suggests 2020 Election Can Be Overturned by Recalling Electors for Fraud

Pro-Trump attorney Sidney Powell continued to fuel baseless voter fraud theories on Saturday by suggesting that the 2020 election can still be overturned.

Speaking to conservative commentator Brannon Howse, Powell claimed that state legislators have the power to "recall the electors for fraud," which she argues would "undo" President Joe Biden's election win.

"I think it's certainly important for people to understand what happened here and the more information we can get about that the better," Powell said. "It's particularly important for our state legislators to understand it because they have the power to recall the electors for fraud. Fraud officiates or disposes of everything, undoes everything that wrongfully happened as a result of that fraud."

Powell's remarks came five months into Biden's presidency and amid continued efforts by Trump allies to push unverified claims of widespread election fraud.

Howse, her interviewer, recently directed MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell's 2021 "docu-movie," Absolute Fraud, which claims without real evidence that a Chinese cyberattack "flipped" the election against former President Donald Trump.

In the aftermath of Election Day, Trump hired Powell to represent his 2020 campaign in lawsuits seeking to overturn the outcome in several swing states. He later publicly declared that Powell was not officially part of his legal team after she was widely ridiculed for espousing bizarre claims.

Powell's lawsuits and dozens of others filed by Trump's legal team were all rejected in federal and state courts—some by judges appointed by Trump and other Republicans.

Still, Powell has continued to promote misinformation about the election. "He can simply be reinstated," she said of Trump last month during an address to the "For God & Country Patriot Roundup" conference in Dallas.

"Biden is told to move out of the White House," the lawyer insisted. "And President Trump should be moved back in. I'm sure there's not going to be credit for time lost, unfortunately. Because the Constitution itself sets the date for inauguration. But he should definitely get the remainder of his term and make the best of it. That's for sure."

In December, former U.S. Attorney General William Barr maintained that there was "no evidence" to suggest that fraud had impacted the election results. The Department of Homeland Security's Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, led by a Trump appointee at the time, also described the 2020 election as the "most secure in American history."

In April, Trump claimed that all red states in 2020 had "properly run" their elections with enough safeguards against fraud.

"Look, Florida was properly run. Ohio was properly run. South Carolina was properly run. By the way, North Carolina, Democratic governor, we won that. You know, that's always very tough to win. We won it very nicely—properly run. Happened to have a Democrat governor, in all fairness," he told Fox News host Sean Hannity.

Newsweek reached out to Powell for further comment. This story will be updated with any response.

I think she wants to get sued again.

It's hard to believe this bitch was once considered a respectable lawyer.

Sometimes I think all these people want is endless chaos.

That is exactly Putin and China's intention to get America in such a state of chaos and fear that they can easily try to step in and take over. That is also why they are integrating their trained operatives into our military, to support their own insurrections, and Trump will be the catalyst just as he was last time at the Capitol bldg.

Only this time it will be for a much bigger reason. And that is why Trump is still holding on to his white supremacists and his trained and armed militias to assist his brain dead supporters who would put their own life on the line for him.

Sidney has a great idea
Absolutely panacea
Prove that true democracy
Is nothing but a mockery
The world has watched in open wonder
America being torn asunder
How much more can Yankees do
To flush their nation down the loo

OK. Maybe. Interesting idea, I suppose.

Fortunately for the sanity and integrity of the country, there is no actual evidence of Elector Fraud. Not even a reasonable suspicion. So, it's a purely hypothetical fantasy, along the lines of "What if monkeys flew out of my butt?"

Is she planning to defend this outrageousness by again claiming that it's so outrageous that nobody should actually believe her?

She should be disbarred.
