TORONTO - Two travellers who arrived in Toronto from the United States have been fined for providing fake COVID-19 proof of vaccination documents and lying about pre-departure tests.

The Public Health Agency of Canada says the travellers also didn't comply with requirements to stay at a government-authorized hotel or to get tested upon arrival.

The agency says in a news release Friday that the travellers arrived last week and have been handed four fines totalling $19,720 each.

Canada eased quarantine requirements on July 5 for fully vaccinated Canadians and foreign nationals with an exemption to enter the country, but they must upload their proof of vaccination documents to the ArriveCAN app before entry.

Those who are not fully vaccinated are still required to stay for three days at a government-approved hotel, quarantine for 14 days and undergo tests pre-departure, post-arrival and eight days later.

The public health agency is warning that all travellers are obligated to answer questions truthfully and that providing false information or documents to government officials upon entry to Canada is a serious offence.

The agency says violating quarantine or isolation instructions when entering Canada could lead to a $5,000 fine for each day of non-compliance or each offence, or more serious penalties including six months in prison or $750,000 in fines.

This report by The Canadian Press was first published July 30, 2021.

Good, I wish the US government was that strict on people crossing the border without proper paperwork

How many illegal immigrants have tested positive for Covid 19 that have entered the US? Answer- they aren't even tested. Where are they quarantined? Answer- they aren't. They are shipped all over the US and given trial dates to show up for; which 70% ignore.

In case you missed it.

The surge isn't even slowing down for the summer months.

NONE of the links that you posted have ANY information of testing or quarantines. NONE.

So please, provide a link that DOES support your claims.

Um, because it's not happening. Your boy Biden is letting them in en masse and without being tested.

So when Sen. Cruz stated that the Donna Facility in Texas WAS testing for Covid he was lying. Got ya.

For 'our readers' who actually want to know the facts, here they are:

So when Sen. Cruz stated that the Donna Facility in Texas WAS testing for Covid he was lying. G

If you look at your calendar, the current month is July. This article was written in April.

Cruz never said ALL illegals are being tested. He just said some were being deemed positive by a test.

Probably THIS from YOUR link is the dictation of who gets tested..

"Customs and Border Protection personnel do initial inspections for symptoms or risk factors associated with COVID-19 and consult with onsite medical personnel, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, or local health systems as appropriate, the agency said"

So, if no symptoms, no test?

Also, in YOUR link, it states this..

"migrants are tested for COVID-19 “at some point during their immigration journey.”"

What does that mean? "Immigration journey" could mean anytime in the future, even years, as these people will always be immigrants....albeit illegal ones.

MORE likely this:

DHS, which oversees immigration enforcement, said it’s working with state and local authorities and non-governmental organizations to make sure that all migrants are tested for COVID-19 "at some point during their immigration journey." Cities, counties and NGOs handle the vast majority of the testing and any subsequent isolation, while contractors help fill the gaps. They typically use antigen tests , which can provide results within minutes.

Or this:

DHS said it is currently testing "100% of noncitizens" who are apprehended or detained "at some point in their immigration enforcement journey." That includes adults arriving alone whom the Biden administration says it’s expelling based on a public health law. DHS said that adults are tested when they enter the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Or this:

The Biden administration is also   expelling families , but   many have still been let in . The administration   says   that’s happened when Mexico doesn’t have the capacity to accept them. Families are mostly tested through state, local, tribal and territorial partners and NGOs "immediately after release" from immigration custody and before they head elsewhere in the country, according to DHS. In some cases, DHS said contractors step in to do the testing.

DHS said unaccompanied children are tested before they are transferred to HHS custody and again when they arrive at HHS   emergency influx sites   — temporary facilities set up to handle the overflow from state-licensed facilities.

at some point in their immigration enforcement journey."

As I said before...

What does this mean?

For the duration of their stay in the US, they are immigrants on a continued journey...because they will always be illegal...

Well, until leftists decide they need more votes and make them legal for that purpose only.

BTWF, there are reports of illegals being found in hotels in Texas with COVID, saying they had recently been released by DHS.  Why were they released into the community knowing they are COVID positive?

Don't you believe your own link?

The FIRST sentence reads:

Authorities  in South  Texas  said Tuesday they've learned that  illegal immigrants  who have possibly tested positive for COVID-19 were being released from federal custody to a Catholic charity, which booked hotel rooms for them without notifying local officials.

Sure is..and that is probably one of the reasons why COVID rates are growing in many states. The feds are busing COVID positive illegals across the country and paying for hotel rooms....and leaving them there with no supervision.

I don't see where I did not blame them. Problem is the feds should not be giving money to Catholic charities to house illegals because these illegals should have been turned around and sent back to Mexico to wait for their asylum "claims", just as Trump did.....and it worked.

I also notice that the leftists on here are not crying about the government giving money to a religious organization, probably because they are financing future democrats into the country.

I wonder what the outrage from leftists would be if the feds gave money to anti abortion religious charities.s/

Per statute, once an asylum seeker enters the US, they cannot be 'turned around' until after their case is adjudicated. Only the AG can decide, on a case by case basis, whether an asylum seeker from Mexico or Canada can be required to wait in their native country.

I understand the statute.

Biden discontinued the "stay in Mexico" policy Trump put into place where asylum seekers must stay in Mexico until their cases are heard. By that policy, the vast majority of those seeking "asylum" did just that and the numbers crossing illegally dropped.

Biden caused this massive increase in illegals by stopping that policy. Most everyone claiming asylum are doing so falsely. They have told border patrol and media that they want to take advantage of economic opportunities.

As soon as they said that, they should have been turned around.

IF you actually did understand the statute, you would NOT have posted:

Crossing the border to seek asylum is NOT illegal.

They were fined for Covid violations, NOT 'irregular' entry.

Has the US given a pass to anyone who forged vaccine documents and lied about it?

I'm sure we'll see a lot more of these before we're done. I was reading something yesterday about smart phone apps that some people might use as vax proof. Unless there was one particular standard I'm skeptical of any app.

That’s precisely why people were freaking out whenever talk arose of the government coordinating some kind of vaccine proof system. They know that an actual set of standards would make the system work and then these jackasses wouldn’t be able to fake it.
