Trump Rallies Becoming the Modern Day Jonestown
Just as lethal and even tastier, Trumpists can't get enough of the Mar-a-Lago Kool-Aid
In a new twist on the concoction consumed by the followers of the Reverend Jim Jones, and then used for the mass suicide resulting in the death of 909 Temple members and their children, Trump's cocktail will be void of Flavor Aid (Kool-Aid was never really used).
A marriage of the tropical wonders of the Mar-a-Lago terroir, the wonderfully-refreshing summer drink is surely something most of the rally-goers have been imbibing for years already but without the specially-prepared ingredient: the coronavirus.
Thousands of Trump-sick gathered unmasked in Arizona to see the sore-loser former president whine on about his Big Lie, about the sham audit being run by middle-aged guys with too much hair, parted down the middle to boot.
Jam-packed in an auditorium, the large, unhealthy-looking people ranted and raved like a pack of hyenas at a tent revival as speaker after speaker congratulated them for not wearing masks, for not vaxxing. They leaped to their feat and praised Jesus and, of course, they praised him.
Not only are we in a compound situation; not only are there those who have left and, committed the betrayal of the century (Excerpts from Tape);
The "betrayal of the century" is how Jim Jones described the "escape" of some of his followers who decided to leave his paradise in the jungle with visiting congressmen. Jones said those words to the nearly thousand trapped or so followers in his infamous "death tape." He was telling his followers that to avenge the great betrayals, the time had come that they all must die — they needed to drink the so-called "Kool-Aid."
Our country is being destroyed by people who have no right to destroy it. People that won an election illegally. People that should not have been elected. They lost in a landslide. Joe Biden and the radical Democrats are wrecking our nation. I don't even believe it's him. I honestly don't believe. I don't think Joe knows where the hell he is. I don't think it's him. Crime is surging. Inflation is soaring. The border is gone. We went from the strongest border ever to the weakest border ever. The border is non-existent. Illegal aliens are pouring in, in record numbers. Critical race theory is being forced into every facet of our society. Free speech is being crushed (Trump's Arizona Speech).
Trump, in the rambling speech also implored his giggling followers to "take action now, don't wait until 2022." He told the audience that given that he invented the vaccine, he recommended they take it but if they didn't want to then "no biggie." He supports their rights and would never want to restrict their freedoms.
A doctor was asked by CNN to comment on the video of the event. Given that many are probably not vaccinated — such being the ignorance of Trumpists — he speculated that hundreds could soon be sick with the Delta variant; a joy they will then share with friends, family and their community due to the selfishness and refusal to mask.
If it was March 2020, there might be a bit of an excuse for some of these people. No one knew, except as we later learned Trump and most in his administration, to what extent the virus could spread from person to person.
It is not last year, however, but July 2021, and nearly 600,000 Americans have perished thanks to rightwing ignorance — sheer and unadulterated murderous stupidity! — and with a new variant already proven to be so much more infectious than the original virus, gathering thousands of dummies together at that event is nothing less than what Jim Jones did in that jungle forty-two years ago.
During the summer of 1978, Jones sought the legal services of Mark Lane and Donald Freed, both Kennedy assassination conspiracy theorists, to help make the case of a "grand conspiracy" by U.S. intelligence agencies against the Temple (Jonestown).
Trump's Big Lie conspiracy has proven so marvelous, so believable that it outrages his followers. They are convinced that they are being played liked suckers by "the rest of us." The "deep state," the Democrats and the RINO Republicans, who Trump says are also involved, are all supposedly mocking them. Fools, they were deprived the "greatest president ever" who obviously only did good for America — and who had nothing to do with any of the bad that happened on his watch.
When a conspiracy is used to so effectively stir up such raw emotions, to convince people to believe that a healthy life is not worth living if lived like a duped sucker, then taking the risk of getting a virus that could kill you, or loved ones is a no-brainer. It does not matter that many of them might not die but merely spend months, and years, dealing with health complications— and bills. They are nevertheless ready to lose their lives for dear leader, for their Jim Jones.
Because we are not committing suicide — it's a revolutionary act. We can't go back; they won't leave us 'alone: They're now going back to tell more lies (Excerpts from Tape).
If you look at the words in the above excerpt, and have followed the speeches of Trump over the past five years, then maybe you can see the similarities between the sick murderer in steamy Guyana jungle and the orange one.
What we can fully discern is that the poor suckers gathered in the stifling heat of the Guyana jungle in 1978 and the lunatics gathering, mask-less, unvaccinated at Trump rallies, are as much victims are they are dangerous and in danger. It might come down to that many will look at their greatest, revolutionary contribution will be to infect others — and then maybe die for him.
No both sides ism allowed.
if only...
On the plus side, if ever there were a more expendable group of humans …
In the meantime, bumbling Biden's border super spreader event continues unabated.
