Critics of Donald Trump were quick to dismiss his attack on President Joe Biden over the Afghanistan withdrawal, after the former president went on a rant and claimed, without evidence, that he had left a "plan" for the current administration should be implementing as American forces leave the country after decades.

Late Saturday, Trump issued a statement through his spokesperson's Twitter account claiming, "He [Biden] ran out of Afghanistan instead of following the plan our Administration left for him—a plan that protected our people and our property, and ensured the Taliban would never dream of taking our Embassy or providing a base for new attacks against America," while also adding, "After I took out ISIS, I established a credible deterrent. That deterrent is now gone. The Taliban no longer has fear or respect for America, or America's power."

Critics of Trump were quick to point out that Trump had a hand in releasing Taliban fighters -- those same ones who are now surrounding Kabul on Sunday morning.

No plan, mediocre plan, detailed plan - none of that really matters when considering that the future of Afghanistan and it’s people is outside of our control and in the hands of the Taliban now.  The right may consider that the gift that keeps on giving but that is nakedly disingenuous.  It doesn’t matter who is in charge of a situation when that situation can only end in disaster.  That’s like the right blaming the trajectory of an upcoming unsurvivable meteor strike on the left or vice versa.  It is what it is, and it’s time for the citizens of Afghanistan to manage their own fate - now is not the time for the right to continue couching this disaster as a failure of the left.

Do you notice that you are raving about Biden having no plan for Afghanistan, while complaining about his plan for leaving Afghanistan?

You're trying to eat your cake and have it too.

Speaking of which, I don't remember them complaining when Trump ordered the withdrawal of all troops from Northern Syria.  Leaving our allies to fend, and die, for themselves.

‘I can’t even look at the atrocities’: U.S. troops say Trump’s Syria withdrawal betrayed an ally

Who else could possibly be responsible for the debacle under a Biden Administration?

Biden has already taken responsibility, something Trump has never ever done.  Maybe that's why Biden's approval ratings are still so high.

Biden Campaign promise made.

Campaign promise kept.

Zero causalities since he was elected ( actually May of 2020 )

All combat troops extracted by 07/15  ( Bagram turned over to Af'stan on 07/05 )

leaving 650 troops in the airport and 200 at the embassy.

A month later after the unpredictable COMPLETE and UTTER collapse of the Afghan government and military

and after reinstalling almost 5,000 troops,

we have airlifted out 22,000  US & Afghan civilians.

Typical of some Americans who won't get vaccinated,

there is no process or laws to track Americans in Afghanistan that don't want to leave or ability to force them to leave

They have wasted 4 weeks and have 11 more days to contact US forces or Embassy officials for assistance.

Not my fault Af'stan collapsed.

Not Trump's fault Af'stan collapsed

Not Biden's fault Af'stan collapsed.

Another chapter in nation building ended in failure by the USA and USSR Cold Wars.

Good Riddance.

Actually Mr Trump gave the American civilians in Afghanistan 14 months notice.

Mr. Biden not only upheld that policy, he extended it by exactly 4 more months.

Anyone bitching that they are stuck in Afghanistan must be unable to use a calendar.

Left him a plan?  What a load of baloney.  Trump refused to give incoming President Biden those little bitty ole customary security briefing memos.  The only thing Trump left Biden was 700,000 dead people, most of our allies in the lurch, and a significant amount of the world's population laughing at us.

Poor Biden...He needed Donald Trump to tell him to remove the military after you removed civilians, allies,, sensitive data and military equipment. Without memos telling Joe Biden not to withdraw troops first, he can't he expected to figure out those things for himself. How could anyone expect a President of the United States to plan an orderly withdrawal without having Donald Trump hold his hand and tell him what to do?

When your argument is   Biden is too incompetent to  function without memos prepared by the Trump admin 7 months ago......

What the hell, Sean?  You are way too intelligent not to have understood what I was talking about...unless of course you wanted your comment to imply next-level obtuse with an enormous sprinkling of jrSmiley_88_smiley_image.gif .   The only thing Trump provided was a pile of worthless tweets about having the troops home by last Christmas.  Even then he had no plan, and worse, failed to let the Pentagon know what his plan was before or after blasting out those stupid tweets.  source, damn-it

Yet another unsubstantiated claim by Trump.   Gaad this guy is obnoxious and self-serving.

If there were such a plan then it would have been something designed by the military and civilian operational units of the US government.   The idea that these groups would devise such a plan and then simply toss it away does not make any sense.

What does make sense is that Trump is yet again lying.
