CONWAY, S.C. (PIX11) A man in South Carolina accused of raping his nephews girlfriendThursday was brutally beaten by his nephewbefore the police even arrived.

WIS reported that Conway Police found the mangled 52-year-old WilliamMattson at the Highway 905 residence around 12:57 a.m. after the assault.

His mugshot clearly shows what happened when the victims boyfriend, who is also the suspects nephew,found him raping the girl.

The nephewapparently found the suspect in a bedroom on top of his girlfriend. Police saythe boyfriend then started striking the suspect with his fist and drove him from the house to the front lawn, according to myrtlebeachonline.com.

Police say the boyfriendwas acting in defense for the victim. He has not been charged.

Mattson was charged with criminal conductand taken to the J. Reuben Long Detention Center.
