Trump Demands Pulitzer Committee 'Rescind' Awards for Russian Collusion Reporting
"The coverage was no more than a politically motivated farce," Trump said in a letter directed to the Pulitzer Prize interim administrator, Bud Kliment.

Former President Donald Trump on Sunday demanded the Pulitzer Prize committee "immediately rescind" awards granted to staff at The New York Times and The Washington Post in 2018 for their reporting on Russian collusion in the 2016 presidential election.

In his letter to the Pulitzer Committee Board, Trump said that the Russian collusion reporting included "sensational" headlines and were based on anonymous sources.

"[The awards were given] based on the false reporting of a non-existent link between the Kremlin and the Trump Campaign. The coverage was no more than a politically motivated farce," Trump said in a two-page letter sent to the interim administrator of the Pulitzer Prize, Bud Kliment.

Trump wrote that the reporting lacked evidence as it alleged that his campaign "supposedly colluded with Russia" in a joint interference in the 2016 election.

"When it becomes apparent that a Pulitzer Prize-winning work was based on shoddy, dubious, and manifestly false reporting — as is the case here — the Pulitzer Prize Board must react accordingly," he said in his letter.

He added that the awards should be withdrawn because they are based on a set of articles that focused on the "now debunked Russian collusion conspiracy theory."

Trump criticized the headlines as "sensational" and said the reporting was "heavily" based on anonymous sources.

He later said in the letter that the allegations were confirmed to be false and that he has been "exonerated of these charges."

However, in 2019, special counsel Robert Mueller said that he didn't exonerate Trump—charging the then-president with a crime just was "not an option."

"If we had had confidence that the president clearly did not commit a crime, we would have said so," Mueller said at the time, according to the Associated Press.

In backing this assertion, Trump cited in his letter the indictment of former cybersecurity attorney Michael Sussman and how it served as a "damning repudiation of the media's obsession with the collusion story."

"The indictment pointedly accuses Mr. Sussman of making false statements to the FBI when he presented 'evidence' purporting to show secret communications between my organization and the Russia-based Alfa bank," Trump explained.

Trump repeatedly denied the findings of the investigations before, including the over 5,000 pages of information that the White House provided to Mueller's team of investigators about fired FBI Director James Comey and the 8,000 pages regarding ousted national security adviser Michael Flynn and Russia.

Trump tweeted in early 2018: "The single greatest Witch Hunt in American history continues. There was no collusion, everybody including the Dems knows there was no collusion, & yet on and on it goes. Russia & the world is laughing at the stupidity they are witnessing. Republicans should finally take control!"

The Pulitzer Committee refused to consider the request because the letter was written in crayon.

I think it's probably too late to hope he's going to stop having ineffectual little tantrums.

His mommy caved and gave him candy at the grocery store check-out too many times.

Remember a couple of years ago when he jumped all over Time magazine for making 16-year-old activist Greta Thunberg their Person of the Year when he felt he should have won?  He trolled her for the longest time, and she handled him like he was a tub of melted butter.

As much as I want him to be struck mute, in regard to both his mouth and his social media comments, this stuff is getting funnier by the minute, and we are in desperate need of funny.

Beginning back in 2014 Trump and Company were secretly colluding with the Russians to build Trump Tower Moscow right up to election day in 2016...

He even tried to bribe Vlad Putin with a penthouse.

I know!  Why is he the only one who can't seem to come to terms with that fact?

My guess would be because he is delusional.

The Pulitzer committee honored a denier of the Holodomor that killed millions of Ukrainians.  Honoring propaganda is what they do.

Sean...really?  Oy.

Left wing organization honors left wing propaganda. Been going on for about 100 years at this point.  Of course they honored shitty, overtly politicized  reporting about Trump.

Imagine trying to defend the hysterical reporting about Russia at this point.

What's hysterical about it?  Russia played Trump and his entire family right down to the ground and used them to promote their sleazy divide and conquer propaganda tactics.  In case you haven't noticed, they were quite successful.  We all hate each other.

Do you even remember this site between 2016 and the Mueller report? So many of you made absolute asses of yourself promoting  all the supposed crimes and even treasonous activities between Trump and Russia and promising a  reckoning by Mueller.   Almost every day  some anonymously sourced  "shocking new development" that was proof of Trump's guilt was front and center here. And that hysteria was driven in large part by the Times and Post who ignored the evidence in plain view (the indictments actually filed by Mueller's office) in favor of ever wider conspiracies and proof of crimes that never actually had any proof to support them.  And now, the people who made the biggest asses of themselves promoting all sorts of wild conspiracies now pretend their fantasies  were somehow vindicated despite the reality of the Mueller Report and the indisputable fact that   NOT A SINGLE PERSON was indicted for conspiring with Russia with regards to the 2016 election.

It must be something similar to how they say women don't really remember the pain of childbirth so they will, in fact, go through it again. Many liberals seems to have developed the same sort of amnesia with regards to their collective,  almost hallucinogenic, belief in the wild conspiracies promoted by left wing media following Trump's win. I guess dealing with reality and admitting how insane they were  is just too painful. In a sane world, the behavior of the media during the Trump administration with regards to Russia would be treated as a case study in how not to report a story.  But we are far from a sane world.

In case you haven't noticed, they were quite successful.  We all hate each other.

In this I agree. Thanks to the media fueled hysteria, the Russian dirty tricks in 2016 was one of the most successful subversive acts ever undertaken by a country against another.  Never has Lenin's understanding of the role of useful idiots been proven more true. And just like the rewarded Walter Duranty for carrying the USSR's water with regards to the Holodomor, the Times was again rewarded for helping America's enemies fool the American public.

Trump's rigged election lie is one of the biggest farce's in American history.

As usual, he is trying to create a distraction.  This time it's likely that he wants to create a distraction from the damaging political fallout that is going to engulf him as a result of revelations that will come out of the January 6th investigation.

This just in.  Trump demanded extra cheese on his Big Mac.  McD's turned him down.

Trump can demand whatever he wants, but his demands should not be taken seriously by anyone as his demands are laughable.

As my father used to say  "Wishing in one hand and shiting in the other can be tricky when you bring a hand up to cover a cough or sneeze."
