U.S. — Americans are up in arms after a Chinese high-altitude spy balloon was seen hovering over sensitive nuclear sites in Montana. Biden was quick to quell fears, vowing to shoot down the hostile balloon as soon as he's done letting it spy.

"Listen folks, that balloon came a long way to do a little spyin'," said Biden in a meeting with military leaders. "Would be a shame to shoot the poor thing down before it even gets a chance to take some pictures! I remember when me and the boys used to spy on Suzie Anne McGillicutty through her bedroom window after a long day of protesting the civil rights movement. It's all in good fun, folks!"

According to anonymous sources, several Pentagon officials asked how soon they would be able to knock the balloon out of the sky, insisting it was a matter of national security.

"Come on, man! I'll let you shoot it down. Just let me check to make sure the Chinese have what they need and that the million-dollar check for Hunter's painting came through from my buddy Xi. Then, have at it, boys!"

At publishing time, Eric Swalwell had been seen approaching the spy balloon and asking for its number.

Leadership is ignoring a problem,  trying to cover it up and then taking action after the problem is past.

There's still almost two years left for Joe to continue fucking up the country. I'm sure that with that much time you'll get plenty of whatever it is you feed off of...

Hilarious that during national election season, leftists say that rural red areas of the west and midwest are nothing more than flyover country with nothing but cows and empty space, but when one their ally countries send a balloon through that same part of the country, the left scream that we cannot take it down because it could hit someone.

Which is it, leftists?

The first is partisan needling, the second is rational thinking. Why did so many on the right want it shot down ... to have their cake and eat it too? Y'all would have had a field day pissing on Biden if it damaged anything. I remember when republicans were far more subtle than this shyte.

I was an Operations Specialist in the Navy for 20 years. My whole career, I was able to determine relative speed, relative direction, closest point of approach, mostly based on wind speed. Much of that had been automated the last few years of my career, which ended 18 years ago.

You can't tell me the military was unable to determine a drop area based on wind speed, expected level of drift, etc, and take it down safely.

To be honest, Brandon should have taken it down the second it was safe to do so when it first went into US air space, not wait until it traversed across the entire North American continent, transmitting back to Beijing whatever intelligence it was collecting.

We have a weak, compromised loser in the White House. .

Maybe with all that ecumin you should have worked for the airforce ... after all, they have God on their side.

Is it really a coincidence that this balloon showed up right before the investigation into Brandon's hoarding of classified material throughout his properties?

Maybe Brandon asked his Chinese buddies for this deflection to get the heat off him.

Funny thing is if Trump were president, a Chinese balloon showed up over the US and Trump just let it float all the way across North America before finally taking it down over international waters, you can damn be sure that many leftists would have thrown out this conspiracy theory days ago.

gee, what is the wind seed and direction at 60K feet in the air? don't balloons increase or decrease altitude to change speed and direction?

it was the right decision to drop the chinese balloon over the ocean instead of over rural america. a much greater chance of non-salvageable intelligence with a ground landing versus a water landing. any electronics suitable for the atmosphere would need to be weather proofed, meaning water proof. I think most of the immediate damage already done by that balloon was to the PRC/CCP.

Wrong ocean..

Do you really think a water landing from that altitude is more pliable than one on say the tundra?

falling at a speed of somewhere between 120-160 mph I'm guessing, yes...

Ahh. So to use an analogy you might understand, if you dropped your glass pipe would you rather drop it in the yard or the driveway?

Objects falling into the water from that height and speed can cause similar damage. Hitting water like that is like hitting a concrete wall.
