Trouble in Paradise
"I've seen that press report, it's not accurate," Kirby told MSNBC on Thursday.

Link to Quote:  Biden official says China has had spy base in Cuba since 2019 as admin says report 'not accurate' | Just The News

Last week the WSJ broke a very revealing story that most of the media is under reporting. It seems that the CCP has paid the Cuban dictatorship billions to place a spy base there in order to conduct electronic eavesdropping from the island. Immediately, there were responses from various quarters. An unknown source (you remember them) told the AP that the Intelligence community is unaware of any such thing. Then we heard from the very untrustworthy spokesman for the "National Security Council" at the White House. Kirby called the WSJ report "inaccurate." Then a little later the White House admitted it has been going on since 2019 and therefore it's Trump's fault.

"The existence of the Chinese spy base was confirmed after  The Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday  that China and Cuba had reached an agreement in principle to build an electronic eavesdropping station on the island. The Journal reported China planned to pay a cash-strapped Cuba billions of dollars as part of the negotiations."

China has had a spy base in Cuba since at least 2019, US confirms (yahoo.com)

The question is: what will Joe Biden do about it?

Are we going to simply allow this too?

Who trusts this administration?

“Deny, deny until you can’t anymore, and then blame the Trump administration,” Rep.   MICHAEL WALTZ   (R-Fla.), a member of the House Intelligence Committee, said Monday.

The administration has made some serious   national security-related media flubs before  . They’ve accused lawmakers skeptical of accepting Ukraine into NATO of parroting Russian talking points and belittled reporters questioning military readouts of operations. The overall stance has been “trust us” when information is provided, even though sometimes that information was wrong, especially in the case of a “righteous strike” on a suspected ISIS terrorist in Afghanistan that instead killed 10 civilians, including seven children."

Assuming you are referring to a nuclear standoff with the Soviets, just what should he do? Threaten to blow them up if they don't take their spy base away? That seems a bit heavy-handed. How about he jamb their frequencies with Public Radio broadcasts?

Trust me, any answer you have will have a knee jerk response from this crowd.  It’s a pointless exercise.

No one was sure how Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev would respond to the naval blockade and US demands. But the leaders of both superpowers recognized the devastating possibility of a nuclear war and publicly agreed to a deal in which the Soviets would dismantle the weapon sites in exchange for a pledge from the United States not to invade Cuba. In a separate deal, which remained secret for more than twenty-five years, the United States also agreed to remove its nuclear missiles from Turkey. Although the Soviets removed their missiles from Cuba, they escalated the building of their military arsenal; the missile crisis was over, the arms race was not.

There is controversy about that claim as well.

“Look, we took an incredible inventory of China and its capabilities during the Trump administration, and the idea that this kind of surveillance platform was present and being allowed is just, you know, it’s just absurd,” Ratcliffe said in a previously recorded interview with  Maria Bartiromo . “And just like with the  spy balloon situation , you’ll see Trump administration officials coming out and saying, it’s simply not true.”

At least 2019, you can see it in the article.  There is something about 2019/20 that had the world preoccupied, it's coming to me, oh yeah, a pandemic.

We have a valid reason why Trump wasn't paying attention to it, but what is Biden doing about it since its been known since 2019 and he's been President since January 2021?

What reason was that?  Trump was definitely not preoccupied with the pandemic.

Not 100% sure why the Chinese need to do this, other than to show how little respect they have for the current President. Americans pretty much volunteer unlimited data up to the Chinese, willingly.

The report states since at least 2019 so that was before the Biden administration so the question is why didn't that administration do anything about it? Being that that president stated that he was smarter than the Generals (and most everyone else on earth) you would think he could handle two crises at a time.

Second, perhaps we could invade Cuba since it went so well the last time we tried. Or an embargo that has worked really well for the last 50 plus years.

The Brandon administration lies about this twice; and now we are all expected to believe them this time?

That excuse was used up (and then some) on the Chinese spy balloon fiasco.

Hey, way to miss the entire point.  The significance of China's move into Cuba is that China is now playing the US game on the US field.  (BTW, that was the point of the Cuban missile crisis.)  Is the US willing to trade Taiwan for Cuba?

Then a little later the White House admitted it has been going on since 2019 and therefore it's Trump's fault.

Wasn't that the same song they sang about the (innocent) Chinese balloon and other issues like the southern border, supply chain, and train wrecks?

Deny ... admit ... blame Trump. Rinse and repeat.

Serves us right. We could be making friends with Cuba, but instead, we persist in making them our enemy.

Agreed. Pretty much every other nation in the Western hemisphere has. And anyway,
1) The Chinese & Russians are friendly with Cuba. To think that the Cubans have not allowed them to spy on us forever is naive.
2) The Chinese can spy from their embassy & consulates in the US, just like we do in China. They have the 815 spy ships that can move around and get a lot closer than 90 miles off the tip of a peninsula which is 450 miles long, hardly ideal. And spy satellites…
3) Our military did not consider the Chinese spy balloon enough of a danger to risk people’s lives on the ground by shooting it down. It was about 12 miles up. If people think there aren’t Chinese spies flying around the US collecting data from private aircraft, they’re not thinking at all.
This is just another one of those non-events that has conservatives clutching their pearls. I don’t see where we need to do anything about something that’s been going on since the Cuban Missile Crisis.
