Adam Schiff faces censure vote over claims of 2016 Trump-Russia collusion
Luna filed the privileged motion on Tuesday, seeking to remove Schiff from office and slap him with a $16 million fine over allegations he abused the trust of his constituents by pushing claims that Russia had meddled in the 2016 presidential race to help elect former President Donald Trump.

Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) introduced a measure to censure Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), seeking to condemn the California Democrat over his claims of Russian collusion in the 2016 election and to pressure him to leave office.

Luna filed the privileged motion on Tuesday, seeking to remove Schiff from office and slap him with a $16 million fine over allegations he abused the trust of his constituents by pushing claims that Russia had meddled in the 2016 presidential race to help elect former President Donald Trump.

"Schiff just hit the fan," Luna said in a tweet.

The motion comes after Schiff, who previously led the House Intelligence Committee, pushed unproven allegations of Trump-Russia collusion for years and touted British ex-spy Christopher Steele's discredited dossier. Those claims came under renewed scrutiny earlier this year after the release of the Durham report, which concluded the FBI had no proper basis for launching the Crossfire Hurricane investigation into Trump and Russia in 2016.

The report ultimately concluded the investigation was inherently flawed as there was no proper basis to conduct it in the first place, and it also found that former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's campaign played an outsize role in pushing collusion claims to the media and to the FBI.

Schiff rejected the motion, calling the resolution a "terrible misuse of House precedent and resources" and an "attack" on the Constitution.

"Our GOP colleagues are using the leverage and resources of the House majority to rewrite history and promulgate far-right conspiracy theories — all to protect and serve Donald Trump," Schiff said in a letter to colleagues. "This resolution plainly demonstrates the lengths our GOP colleagues will go to protect Donald Trump's infinite lies — lies that incited a violent attack on this very building."

A censure vote does not remove a lawmaker from office, nor does it hold any real punishment. Rather, the move is a symbolic vote to express dissatisfaction toward a lawmaker over their voting record or personal conduct. However, the move could come back to haunt Schiff as he runs to replace the retiring Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) in the Senate.

Luna's motion to censure builds on previous efforts from the congresswoman to expel Schiff from office, according to a separate resolution filed last month. The House is set to hold a procedural vote on Wednesday to decide how to move forward, with Democrats likely seeking to table the motion.

Bobble head boy is the last one to talk about abuse and misuse of power.

Time to take his power away. He can still bitch to the media; but at least he will be little more than a talking puppet.

How did that work for Pelosi? Did her target for censure up and leave or was it just another political blurb in the ongoing circus? It's the same circus - all we did was change ringmasters, Pelosi for McCarthy.

She felt that she put two stains on the Trump Presidency. On one of those occassions she did the most laughable thing in the history of congress. She impeached a man who was no longer even President.

Especially since Schiff has every single American intelligence agency on his side, and even Putin admitted that they'd helped Trump.

Intel report: Putin directly ordered effort to influence election

But hey, forget all that, we gotta get back to that Hunter Biden's laptop....\sarc

I'm not giving any personal option  on whether he earned it or didn't. All I'm saying is it doesn't appear to do anything but waste time and help raise re-election cash from hyper partisans who eat this shit up with a spoon. Me? I'd rather they spent some actual time fixing immigration or spanking banks that feel the need to invest cash they don't have. Improving the electric and internet grids would help more people than investigating each other. Finding ways to help small businesses be more secure online. Finding fixes that really reduce medical costs and not just hide them.

Well, this is really dumb motion because Russia really did "interfere in the 2016 American Presidential election" both to help Trump and to hurt Mrs Clinton. That is not debatable. These are proven facts. Trump has just never been convicted in a American court of law for conspiring directly with Russia regarding the implementation of the massive Russian interference campaign in the 2016 election, which was all to Trump's advantage!

The only thing that Schiff should feel flattered by is that he was able to hoodwink low-info voters and left wing media for years into believing he possessed "evidence in plain sight" but was never forced to present that evidence.

Rep.  Adam Schiff   (D-Calif.) said on Wednesday that he is “flattered” by a Republican push to  censure  him, suggesting that the resolution was driven by hopes of distracting from former President Trump’s legal woes.

“I’m flattered by it,” he continued. “But the fact that Speaker McCarthy would take up this MAGA resolution when we have so many pressing challenges before the country is really a terrible abuse of House resources.”

Schiff also accused his Republican colleagues of bringing forward the censure resolution as retaliation for his leading the first impeachment inquiry into the former president.
