The American Left's greatest achievements
Link to Quote: What Obama Is Learning From Reagan's Example : NPR
I first want to differentiate the American left from the old-fashioned liberals who once occupied the left of both political parties. Today's American left had their beginnings during the social upheaval of the late 1960's when they were the outsiders. Slowly the ranks of the left grew through indoctrination. At America's universities America is viewed as being flawed right from the nation's beginning. Indoctrinated professional people graduating from the university naturally tend to occupy our institutions. Thus, the country has a media and social media and a federal government and academia, and the democrat party, which are all dominated by the radical left. Today those on the left are the insiders.
Most of the left's achievements came within the past few years at the hands of those who controlled Joe Biden. To become the democrat nominee, Joe Biden obviously made a Faustian bargain with the left. He certainly isn't the Joe Biden of 20 years ago. In the past 3 years it was a feeble Joe Biden who carried the complete leftist agenda across the finish line. At the moment he is expendable.
The stage was already set by president Barack Obama when radical judges were appointed and when Eric Holder filled the DOJ with extremists.
The Fait Accompli:
1) Open Borders: Clearly, we have the open border that the democrat party has embraced.
"Through the first half of Biden's term from January 2021 through January 2023, Customs and Border Protection reported 1.2 million "gotaways." That is, at least 1.2 million illegal immigrants were confirmed to have unlawfully crossed the U.S.-Mexico border. The actual number of illegal immigrants who entered the country unimpeded is, by nature of the crime, unknown. It could be double the number of known gotaways, it could be three times worse, or more. We just don't know, thanks to Biden's border policies."
Just How Many Illegal Immigrants Have Entered the U.S. Under Biden? Here's an Idea. (townhall.com)
Along with the illegal migrants came fentanyl, sex trafficking, terrorists, criminals of all kinds and armed cartel members. Let us remember that most of these people want a better life, but they are entering illegally (their 1st decision), then residing in the US while breaking the law, and for many of them they will find a fake/illegal identification (their final decision.) The democrats who aided them in entering the country and will offer them benefits only demand one thing : fealty at the voting booth.
It also benefits the governments from which they came. For the most part these governments are either dictatorships or failed regimes and some like Mexico are extremely racist. Those governments do not want young men likely to revolt and in particular "others" whom the Biden administration is more than willing to take. The vast majority of those crossing the border under Joe Biden have been young men. In addition, there would be the transfer of wealth of 40 or 50 million migrants sending wage money home. In the process all of it overwhelms the social services of the US.
2) Climate Policy: Joe Biden took the largest oil & gas producer in the world which was completely immune from OPEC decisions and diminished it.
A timeline of President Biden’s energy policy actions over the past two years illustrates how far he must now go to reverse the bad blood – and the incentive structure – his administration has built up with the industry. Here’s a recap of Biden’s anti-oil policies since taking office on January 20, 2021.
*January 20, 2021: One of Biden’s first actions was to revoke approval for the Keystone XL pipeline and impose a moratorium on oil and gas leasing on federal lands and waters. Roughly 25% of U.S. production comes from federal areas. The Keystone XL cancellation confirmed to many policy-watchers Biden’s willingness to use one of climate activists’ favorite tactics – blocking "midstream" pipelines – to restrict "upstream" production. The moves were part of Biden’s broader climate agenda and target to reduce U.S. greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2030 and achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.
* February 26, 2021: Biden updates the "social cost of greenhouse gas emissions," dramatically altering the way the U.S. government calculates the real-world costs of climate change . The move could reshape a range of consequences, from whether to allow new fossil fuel leasing on federal lands and waters to what sort of steel is used in taxpayer-funded infrastructure projects. The administration plans to boost the figure it will use to assess greenhouse gas pollution's damage inflicts on society to $51 per ton of carbon dioxide – a rate more than seven times higher than that used by former president Donald Trump. But experts say it could reach as high as $125 per ton once the administration conducts a more thorough analysis. This would apply to any new oil and gas lease sale, raising producers’ costs to deliver new supplies.
* June 1, 2021: Biden proposed eliminating a slew of tax benefits for oil, gas and coal producers in favor of electric vehicles and other low-carbon energy alternatives as part of his $6 trillion budget for the next fiscal year. It proposed repealing: the pass-through exemption from corporate income tax for partnerships that derive at least 90% of gross income from natural resources; use of percentage depletion for oil and gas wells; expensing of intangible drilling costs; capital gains treatment for royalties; enhanced oil recovery credit; $3.90 per barrel credit for marginal oil wells; expensing of exploration and development costs, and other tax incentives. Eliminating these tax provisions imperils U.S. energy security by raising costs for domestic producers and would increase America’s reliance on foreign energy supplies.
* August 11, 2021: Biden calls on OPEC+ producers to increase supply to help curb rising oil prices, even though the U.S. is one of the three largest producers in the world and can deliver supply with a lower carbon footprint than most unregulated national oil companies in the cartel. He would do this several times in the months that followed, including after Russia’s February 24, 2022 invasion of Ukraine.
* October 29, 2021: Biden and Democrats propose a "methane fee" in the proposed budget bill. The fee would start at $900 per ton in 2023 and increase to $1,500 in 2025. Methane is a potent greenhouse gas, and industry has been working to reduce fugitive emissions of it on its own. The industry has also embraced executive regulatory efforts to reduce methane emissions, including support for the Global Methane Pledge, which requires a 30 percent cut in methane emissions by 2030, one of the Biden administration’s priorities for the COP26 climate summit in Glasgow. But the fee structure would effectively serve as a tax on natural gas production, which is counterproductive to energy security and economic growth in the U.S.
* November 17, 2021: Biden sent a letter to Federal Trade Commission Chair Lina Khan encouraging an investigation into oil and gas companies and retail gasoline prices. The move infuriated oil executives, who Biden portrayed as scapegoats for rising inflationary pressures on Americans. In four months, it marked the second time that the White House requested a probe into retail fuel prices, even though gasoline prices are set in a global commodity marketplace and were only following market trends in crude and refined product prices. The surge in crude oil and gasoline prices reflects tightness in supply amid a rapid demand recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic.
* March 12, 2022: Congressional Democrats propose to tax top U.S. oil producers and importers and direct the collected money to Americans, an effort they said will curb profiteering in an era of high gasoline prices. The "windfall profit" legislation would put a 50% tax, charged for a barrel, on the price difference between the current cost of a barrel of oil and the average cost for a barrel between 2015 and 2019. Lawmakers contend it would raise an estimated $45 billion a year at $120 a barrel of oil. The measure proposed by Biden’s Democratic party completely ignores the reality that oil prices are set in a global commodity marketplace, not by individual companies.
* March 21, 2022: Biden’s Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) proposes landmark climate rules. If finalized, the rules would fundamentally overhaul how publicly listed companies divulge detailed information about their climate risks and mitigation strategies. Large companies that do business in the U.S. would be required within three years to lay bare their contributions and vulnerabilities to climate change – including, in some cases, the greenhouse gas emissions associated with their customers and suppliers. The move is designed to divert investment away from fossil fuel producers, even though investors are already planning for the energy transition using their own environmental, social and governance (ESG) standards.

All of the above was part of a radical energy policy favored by the left.
3) Social Justice: The emergence of radical DAs and the emasculation of police departments has led to rampant crime and unsafe streets.
It was only a decade or so ago that American citizens could depend on public safety. That was wiped away shortly after the violent 2020 riots. Police departments were defunded. Police officers were demonized and disrespected leading to less policing and less police recruits. That is something that can't be repaired anytime soon. The Soros funded DAs that have suddenly appeared in many major cities have put offenders back on the street as soon as they are arrested and have reduced penalties for certain crimes. In the crazy land of California shoplifters are allowed to steal a certain amount of merchandise. Stores in major cities are closing shop. All of this was done because of an ideology that views everything from the perspective of the oppressed and the oppressor.
The teaching of Critical Race Theory: Taught in a manner not much different that a re-education camp.
There is little to no evidence that critical race theory itself is being taught to K-12 public school students,” The Associated Press wrote recently.
If that’s true, why would the National Education Association, the nation’s largest teachers union, invest in a campaign to keep the theory in K-12 instruction? That is, how could the union keep critical race theory in classrooms if it wasn’t there in the first place?
The answer is simple: School officials around the country not only are teaching critical race theory’s components, such as “intersectionality,” to K-12 children. They also are applying the theory’s principle that discrimination is appropriate and necessary for school activities in the form of mandatory racial affinity groups. For example, where students are separated by skin color for different school functions.
Racial prejudice left a shameful mark on America’s past, but contrary to what critical race theorists believe , racism does not define America. And racial discrimination has no place in law or culture today.
The Heritage Foundation invited 13 scholars to contribute to “ The Critical Classroom ,” a volume that uncovers the often surreptitious application of critical race theory and analyzes the effects that such a biased theory has on teachers and students alike.
“The Critical Classroom” traces the origins of critical race theory and explains that racist institutions, such as slavery and Jim Crow laws, violated our nation’s ideals—and adds that America is not systemically racist.
Yet radical activists who aim to keep critical race theory in schools want students to believe that America’s laws and cultural institutions are beyond repair."

4) The Green Energy New Deal: AKA: The Inflation Reduction Act
This is the outrageous spending bill that promoted radical climate policies and was the leading cause of inflation for the US. They couldn't have done it without obedient democrat majorities in both chambers of congress.
"It is due to this economic reality that the non-partisan Joint Committee on Taxation found that a majority of the tax costs from the Inflation Reduction Act will be borne by households earning less than $400,000. As such, the Act directly violates President Biden’s pledge to not impose taxes on families earning less than $400,000 and worsens the inflation-induced affordability crises plaguing far too many families.
The Act’s regulatory provisions are no better. Take the key drug pricing provisions that ostensibly allows the government to negotiate the price of certain medicines. A negotiation requires compromises from both sides, however. This Act enables the government to expropriate 95 percent of the revenues (not profits) from the sale of any drug where a manufacturer does not negotiate in good faith as determined by the government. So empowered, the alleged negotiations are nothing more than a means for imposing price controls."

There are about 8 or 9 other achievements that were accomplished for the left via Joe Biden, but these four were the crown jewels. They showed us all what they were about and how strong they were as soon as they got Joe Biden elected. The enemy of America is not poverty or want, it is an extreme ideology, and it finally had its moment via the election of Joe Biden.
They do not share traditional American values or patriotism or nationalism. They are citizens of the world. They control most of the power in the country.
This war has to be waged.
“They are citizens of the world.”
Like it or not, vic, we are citizens of the world.
To isolate ourselves in some misguided illusion of the past is to leave ourselves behind in looking toward the future. You cannot build a wall tall enough to ignore the simple fact that we are stronger standing together in our obvious shared interests.
Who is standing together?
Who is inciting war?
You first:
Are we standing together with the illegal migrants whom we no longer ask to assimilate?
“Are we standing together with the illegal migrants…”
If you want it to end it we damn well should.
We have the resources to provide efficient housing and judicial counsel to adjudicate their cases. We have the political influence to address the problems from which they are fleeing. And yet for half a century we have blamed the victims while ignoring the core issues in the counterproductive game of kicking the can down the road.
We have lost our soul, our sense of humanity, our national promise in the name of jingoistic political idiocy.
You mean ENFORCE THE LAW?
We have the resources to provide efficient housing and judicial counsel to adjudicate their cases. We have the political influence to address the problems from which they are fleeing. Biden is using CATCH AND RELEASE.
We have lost our soul, our sense of humanity, our national promise in the name of jingoistic political idiocy.
We have lost our country to an EVIL IDEOLOGY.
Lol.
You think we have the resources to turn every communist/shithole country into such a paradise that no one will want to leave them? That's magical thinking.
“You mean ENFORCE THE LAW?”
Starting with the employers.
I mean ENFORCE THE LAW at the border.
is there anything at all preventing Biden from doing that?
for the last hundred years, illegal immigration has been a campaign wedge issue for republican xenophobes. they have no real interest in solving a problem with such large financial benefits for those that fund their campaigns.
false
At one time both political parties were against illegal immigration.
Then California turned blue...
And suddenly democrats were singing a different tune.
“I mean ENFORCE THE LAW at the border.”
Focusing on the end point while ignoring the myriad issues that contribute to the situation has been our collective failure.
allowing 11-22 million illegal aliens isn't enforcement of our laws
Actually, we don't. Humanitarian and social services have been taxed to the limit from the border to sanctuary cities. Border agent and facilities are overwhelmed by the hordes who are released and simply disappear, probably never to be seen again.
Like it or not, we should be AMERICANS first and foremost.
"allowing 11-22 million illegal aliens isn't enforcement of our laws"
That and putting the welfare of millions of illegal aliens ahead of the needs of American citizens and legal residents. That's what's really disgusting.
It does disgust me.
Let's see if any of the sanctuaries raise taxes on their citizens in order to pay for the aliens.
I somehow kind of doubt that will happen.
Doesn't seem so in NYC, Chicago, SF, ect. How long are the courts backed for?
How much influence do we have with Venezuela, Honduras, Cuba, Mexico?
"How much influence do we have with Venezuela, Honduras, Cuba, Mexico?"
Damned little as a matter of fact.

It's always so easy to tell those leftist liberal folks that live absolutely nowhere on or near our Southern borders and have little or no clue what conditions are really like and believe except solely what the liberal left MSM tells them. Then they think they have all the answers. Pathetic!
Amen !
Thank you, whoever the article author is, for once again showing us that you are an extremist.
Wanting to lessen and then end dependence on fossil fuels is not "radical" or un American , it is necessary. "Critical race theory" is not unAmerican either. But, as we know, what conservatives call critical race theory is not. The godfather of backlash against CRT, Christopher Rufo, SAID that he would call anything he didnt like about the racial justice movement CRT. His plan worked to an extent.
Biden is not responsible for America becoming a diverse, multiracial society, evolution is.
Not the way it was done. You have no infrastructure for electric cars yet. When you do, then you can try and get us off fossil fuels. When you do that you can begin to phase out fossil fuels. Until then these measures are extreme radical nonsense.
"Critical race theory" is not unAmerican either.
I know, it's like apple pie.
Biden is not responsible for America becoming a diverse, multiracial society, evolution is.
Biden is responsible for every bit of that laundry list.
It's amazing how you shout extremist at everyone except your allies publicly salivating over killing their fellow Americans.
[“][removed]
Definitely agree.
"Biden is responsible for every bit of that laundry list."
Bingo!
Not so, according to the Biden sycophants inhabiting here.
Biden has never been responsible for a damn thing.
Traditional American values actually makes be chuckle. Are we to go back to wealthy landowners and tract farmers? Marriage contracts as business opportunities? Who get's to defines these terms? This is nothing but right wing populist jingoism.
Those values are why people are flowing over the border. Freedom of speech, public safety and free enterprise.
That quote doesn't belong to me.
Yeah, how dare they seek life, liberty and happiness...
Funny part is, you just admitted things are good here!
The misrepresentations are yours. I thought I'd remind our readers what traditional values mean.
Welcome back.
Things are good for those in ivory towers.
Is anything preventing them from coming here legally?
Says you.
Yes, let's review your traditional values, shall we?
Freedom of speech unless one is LGBTQA+, educating on tragic periods of history, and mass book banning? Crashing a school board meeting because they want to put 'Winter Holiday' instead of 'Christmas Break' on the calendar?
Public safety like saying the mass deaths of school children is the price we pay for freedom? Or just offerings prayers after a raced based mass shooting outside a grocery store? Calling to defund the FBI the same week it rescued some 200 people from a sex trafficking ring?
Free enterprise like the coordinated attack of a beer company because one trans person was awarded a single personalized can? Or targeting the largest employer in a state for daring to issue a statement on diversity?
Your values don't seem to encompass all Americans.
Nobody said things weren't good here. But there is a proper way to enter the country. Swimming the Rio is NOT one of them.
Nobody has more freedoms than they. They have even claimed a month.
educating on tragic periods of history
Some history is taught ad nauseum while other parts are barely mentioned. The tragic is contained in the former, the American industrial revolution would be a part of the latter.
and mass book banning?
You mean pornography for young children. That is not appropriate. You can read filth if you want, but not our children. The real book banning was conducted by the left. They want to ban Mark Twain don't ya know!
Crashing a school board meeting because they want to put 'Winter Holiday' instead of 'Christmas Break' on the calendar?
Parents have an absolute right to address what is going on in the schools. Especially when a school board hides rape. The leftist DOJ has sicked the FBI on parents. They classified Catholics as terrorists btw. Garland said he was "appalled" when he found out.
Public safety like saying the mass deaths of school children is the price we pay for freedom?
Public safety means that citizens are able to walk down a street without being assaulted.
Free enterprise like the coordinated attack of a beer company because one trans person was awarded a single personalized can?
Free Enterprise is what built the breweries and created the jobs and sold the product at a fair price. What happened to Bud Light was a business bowing to the left.
Or targeting the largest employer in a state for daring to issue a statement on diversity?
Politics and business are a bad mix.
You do have a strange view of traditional values.
Wow! . It's amazing we don't have to build walls to keep people here, given how bad it apparently is. All of these imaginary and/or cherry picked events are oppression of the like no in in history has made it through! Participating in school board meetings. The horror!
Its very brave of you to remain in such an obvious hellhole when true freedom is only a boat ride away in Cuba. No pesky people daring to disagree with the government there. It's a true safe space from dissent.
Straight white populist Evangelicals aren't really being oppressed. Perhaps they should stop equating what other people do as war on their ideas of 'traditional values'? The whole right wing culture warrior mentality is tired and not all that popular.
“…what traditional values mean.”
Do tell.
Yeah? Is that why states are still trying to pass unconstitutional laws that discriminate against them?
No. There are already laws about pornography. Conflating a story of a gay teen written for other gay teens is NOT pornography.
Leave parents to parent their own children instead of dictating to the whole.
Of course they do, but they do not have the absolute right to dictate how other parents get to parent.
Hey Bret Kavanaugh said it never happened. /s
No, the school boards asked the DoJ to look into threats of violence from the right wing populists. To my knowledge not one parent was arrested by the FBI.
One memo came out about a specific topic of concern and was quickly squashed by both the head of the FBI and the DoJ. You can't even admit when those you see as the enemy actually agreed with you.
Ahhh mass shooting don't count. Okay then. /s
Recognizing a particular group of customers OR trying to increase market share in a particular group isn't exercising of free market policies if that group is on the left? I mean after the left had such a hissy fit about Hobby Lobby and Chik-fil-a the right would understand NOT to make the same arguments. But partisans are partisan.
A good argument to overturn the Citizens United ruling.
My point is there is no singular definition of traditional values and anyone claiming they have one is being hypocritical. We have American ideals, which we sometimes live up to and sometimes don't. Being exclusionary, bigoted and anti-diverse does NOT live up to the ideals America was founded on.
So good that working people can't pay their bills and have been dealing with inflation since Joe got into office.
Wait until the autoworkers' strike fucks Bidenomics up even more!
... and conservatives were either compost or in a boat headed back to britain...
A truly ignorant claim, of course.
You must [ know Deleted ] that we are all citizens of the world.
Bullshit, plain and simple. Just because any one person doesn't have the same views as you does not make them unpatriotic. As far as nationalism goes, there is a point, which I believe your commentary has passed, where nationalism turns into jingoism and is used against people who believe differently than one would have them believe.
Of course feeling these feelings, this jingoistic fervor takes persuasion. Apparently, as evidenced by this comment and many more, you have been persuaded by others to hate your fellow Americans and are trying very hard to convince others to feel and act in the same hateful way.
Remember the rules. I demand that you call me by my screen name.
Just because any one person doesn't have the same views as you does not make them unpatriotic.
Nor does it make them patriotic.
As far as nationalism goes, there is a point, which I believe your commentary has passed, where nationalism turns into jingoism and is used against people who believe differently than one would have them believe.
Globalism gutted America's manufacturing sector and gave us a lot of trade deficits.
Apparently, as evidenced by this comment and many more, you have been persuaded by others to hate your fellow Americans and are trying very hard to convince others to feel and act in the same hateful way.
You only need to read the multitude of posts on Trump to measure hate.

Oh, come now. The ultra-capitalistic drive combined with American consumer's "need" for "more-more-more " to produce the market factors, driven to a large part by conservatives and Republicans, that lead to the movement of manufacturing to other countries. Which is not to say the Democrats and the liberals had nothing to do with it. It does point out humankind's inability to deal in an equitable way with it's worst and best creation: money.
A not-so-admirable attempt at deflection. I think it safe to say that Trump is an object lesson in the ability of one person to collect, objectify, personalize and direct hatred at those deemed unfit.
You are learning from a master.
Looks like we can add "Check the Block" qualifications.
But we already knew that by looking many in the Biden Administration.

Are you able to stick to the topic?

Emancipation Proclamation
Women's right to vote
Desegregating schools
Civil Rights Act of 1960
And one to grow on....
Collapse of the Soviet Union
Now, can you list four of the lefts greatest achievements?
I didn't say republicans!! I said right wing. Do you understand the difference?
Do you understand that 'the right wing' is not a political party, holds no offices, and therefore is unable to effect any major changes?
Do you understand the difference?
