Ready for Primetime?
"What he needs to try to do is begin to shape a narrative about the upcoming election because right now he's on his heels. This is an opportunity to push back," said William Howell, a political scientist at the University of Chicago. Fullscreen button

Tonight will be the State of the Union address by president Biden. The normally annual update to Congress and the people of the US takes on additional significance coming in the middle of a presidential election. The Biden campaign will most likely try to use the address to present Joe Biden as a competent leader. I have no idea how they do it, but it seems that whenever there is a major speech to be delivered by the normally clueless Joe Biden, he rises to the occasion at these infrequent moments. My prediction is that he will be flawless tonight. I still think they are giving him something to help him concentrate. In any event Biden will have his largest audience tonight before the November election, though one could argue that it is a captive audience.

The word is that Biden has practiced the address with his aides for many days in the past week. His handlers have also gone to great lengths to prevent hecklers from the pro-Palestinian wing of the democrat party from disrupting the event. There are no leaks as to what is in the speech. One of those rare moments when there aren't any unnamed sources. There are no moles in the Biden administration. Will it be another divisive anti-MAGA tirade?

The State of the Union Address will be at 9 PM EST.

Good morning

Dairy-Queen-Breakfast-Meal.jpg

It looks like we'll have some fact checking as well:

Trump announced Wednesday that his live TV take is sure to do some serious numbers.

“I am pleased to inform you that tomorrow night we will be doing a LIVE, Play by Play, of Crooked Joe Biden’s State of the Union Address,” Trump declared via his  Truth Social  media platform.

Trump will offer live ‘play-by-play’ counterpoint to Biden’s State of the Union (msn.com)

Agree.  I don't quite understand why everyone seems to be talking about what Israel has to do and not what Hamas has to do.  They want peace?  Give up the hostages and have Hamas surrender.  Until then, game on

It is really very simple. The only good part is that it has put Joe in a box.

He stands between his pro-Palestinian wing and the majority of the American people.

Ignorant leftist protesters on campuses and many democrat cities fit in with his Pro Palestine wing and not with the Majority of Americans.  It will be interesting to see how they actually vote though.

It is funny to see how he walks that line.  He will probably blame it on Trump and MAGA tonight.

He could really just call their bluff and the them to STFU.  It is not like they are going to tell people not to vote or vote for Trump in the general election.  They are stupid but I don't believe they are that stupid.  Then again............

Now there are only two.

Therefore, I am calling for Debates, ANYTIME, ANYWHERE, ANYPLACE! The Debates can be run by the Corrupt DNC, or their Subsidiary, the Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD). I look forward to receiving a response. Thank you for your attention to this matter!

As Biden promotes Bidenomics tonight, will there be any mention of the surge in layoffs in February?

The   pace of job   cuts by U.S. employers accelerated in February, a sign the labor market is starting to deteriorate in the face of ongoing inflation and high interest rates.

That is according to a new report published Thursday by Challenger, Gray & Christmas, which found that companies planned 84,638 job cuts in February, a 3% increase from the previous month and a 9% jump from the same time last year.

It marked the highest layoff total for the month of February in data going back to 2009.

"As we navigate the start of 2024, we're witnessing a persistent wave of layoffs. Businesses are aggressively slashing costs and embracing technological innovations, actions that are significantly reshaping staffing needs," said Andy Challenger, senior vice president of Challenger, Gray & Christmas.

Layoffs surged in February to highest level since 2009 | Fox Business

It just seems hard to me to try to spin how good the economy is for the person who struggles to keep food on the table and the lights on. The economy is good for shareholders, if you have money in the stock market you are doing ok. Not great as all those gains can be wiped out quickly, but ok. But we've heard of the large numbers making early withdrawals from retirement savings, the large about of debt held in credit cards, the increase in late and missed car payments..

Just not sure how he can promote the economy to gain votes for November.

It's not even the teleprompter.  It's his ability to read it, then vocalize what it's telling him to say.

Still, there is no way his campaign can portray his as a "competent leader" in any form.

Tonight, should be interesting then. We'll have Biden forced to deliver what maybe his most important speech or as Arthur Godfrey might call it: his "swan song."

That will be followed by Katie Britt, a first-term Republican Senator from Alabama, who has been selected by party leadership to deliver the GOP response to Biden's address.

?url=https%3A%2F%2Fmedia.npr.org%2Fassets%2Fimg%2F2024%2F03%2F06%2Fgettyimages-1704579906-d22b148356ad943ac0932eac393073ea8a09920a.jpg

That will be followed by fact checking of the speech by Donald Trump.

I'm looking forward to it.
