CBS Denies Kamala Harris Raised Money To Bail Out BLM Rioters
Add Kamala Harris' fundraising for criminal Black Lives Matter rioters in 2020 to the growing list of items the media is eager to lie about.

Add Kamala Harris's fundraising for criminal Black Lives Matter rioters in 2020 to the growing list of items the media is eager to lie about ahead of the vice president's coronation as leader of the Democrat Party next month.

On Thursday, a CBS station in Minnesota sought to dismiss Republican reminders that Harris encouraged supporters to give money to a fund for far-left demonstrators who were arrested for terrorizing the country in 2020.

"[Former President Donald] Trump claims Harris helped raise millions and personally donated to a fund that got extra support to bail out protestors in the aftermath of George Floyd's death," CBS News Minnesota reported. The local station called Trump's accusation "misleading" because the Minnesota Freedom Fund said, "It is not correct that then-Sen. Harris has donated to our organization."

Just a few days into the Harris campaign and the press has already reached "blatantly lie about facts you can google in 30 seconds" levels of servile debasement https://t.co/gdDbPf4xW8
— Auron MacIntyre (@AuronMacintyre) July 26, 2024

Harris, however, published a post (which remains online), on what was Twitter at the time, wherein the California senator-turned-vice president asked supporters to "chip in now to the [Minnesota Freedom Fund] to help post bail for those protesting on the ground in Minnesota." The link was posted on Harris's page on June 1, 2020, as far-left riots exploded across the country in the most expensive outbreak of political unrest in American history, costing upwards of $2 billion, or 66 times the estimated wreckage from the Capitol riot seven months later.

If you're able to, chip in now to the @MNFreedomFund to help post bail for those protesting on the ground in Minnesota. https://t.co/t8LXowKIbw
— Kamala Harris (@KamalaHarris) June 1, 2020

The Minnesota Freedom Fund went on to bail out a repeat felon who was later charged with murder and another who was a registered sex offender later accused of child rape.

The Republican Party posted a clip on X of the CBS station asking Harris about the Minnesota Freedom Fund directly just weeks before the 2022 midterms.

"I think that, unfortunately … people are playing political games right now," Harris said, dismissing her support for the violent rioters of 2020 as election-year "disinformation."

On Tuesday, CNN characterized the Minnesota Freedom Fund as a "charitable bail group." The network reported, "Biden and Harris have condemned the riots and violence that occurred on multiple occasions and have expressed support for peaceful protest."

Harris is still raising money for the Minnesota bail fund, according to The Washington Free Beacon, which credited her post for helping the fund reach $41 million in donations in 2020, while adding that "the group only used a small fraction of that bounty — $210,000 — to bail rioters out of jail."

"The Minnesota Freedom Fund continues to reap dividends from Harris's fundraising efforts well into 2024," the Beacon's Andrew Kerr wrote Monday. "The vice president's fundraising page for the group, which contains a photo of a triumphant Harris before a crowd of supporters alongside her 2020 campaign logo, is active and accepted a contribution from this reporter on Monday morning."

Yes she did promote it heavily, but ...

One tweet for the Minnesota Freedom Fund hardly seems like "she did promote it heavily".

She neither raised money or gave money to the Fund, she merely recommended IT, ONCE, on 06/01/2020.

What she promoted heavily was to not to let up on the peaceful protests.

As far as the Fund, the donations totaling $40 million dollars seems like the pulse of America at the time.

The Butler victims only raised $7 Million between two funds.

There was also a bail fund set up for the Jan 6 rioters.  I know you want poor people to rot in jail for months while awaiting trial simply because they cannot afford bail.

(No person shall)   be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law...  Excessive bail shall not be required.

Funny how you condone letting criminals back out on the street.

If only the Summer of Love rioters were hunted down and prosecuted the way that Jan 6th rioters were/are.

Harris also supported defund the police initiatives.

Vice President Kamala Harris voiced support for “defund the police” in a radio interview in June 2020 amidst nationwide protests for police reform, just months before denouncing the movement after she had joined the Biden presidential campaign.

Harris said in the June radio interview the movement “rightly” called out the amount of money spent on police departments instead of community services such as education, housing, and healthcare, emphasizing that more police did not equate to more public safety.

“This whole movement is about rightly saying, we need to take a look at these budgets and figure out whether it reflects the right priorities,” Harris said on a   New York-based radio program “Ebro in the Morning ” on June 9, 2020, adding that US cities were “militarizing police” but “defunding public schools.”

Harris made her comments just weeks after the murder of George Floyd by a Minneapolis police officer galvanized the “defund” movement among progressive activists. At the time, Harris was six months removed from  ending her own presidential campaign  and was still two months away from being   tapped   as Joe Biden’s vice presidential nominee.

In an interview a day earlier, Harris also lauded Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti for his decision to slash $150 million from the police budget and move it into social services.

Harris wasn't fit to be VP. She sure as hell isn't fit to be President.

No amount of media white washing her record will change that fact.

You’re not really a criminal until you’re convicted, right? I know I heard that a bunch from Trump supporters the last few months. Curiously, though, even though he’s been convicted, he’s still not a criminal in their minds.

If only the Summer of Love rioters were hunted down and prosecuted the way that Jan 6th rioters were/are.

Yeah, people make this claim a lot, but actually several thousand people were arrested and prosecuted for their behavior in those riots in 2020.

You are not allowed to use the word criminal anymore.  I think the proper terminology is person or individual impacted by the justice system.

A speedy trial?  In federal court that's 70 days.  That's a long time to rot in jail for anybody who's presumed innocent.

They?  Do you assume that they all waited the same amount of time?  Typically, those with less money wait as long as the courts make them wait while those with the resources to make bail go free.  Overworked public defenders encourage their clients to "waive time" which resets the 70 day clock to zero.  Meanwhile, freedom is dangled like a carrot on a stick to cop a plea.  "You can go home today if you just give up your right to vote and own a gun."  That, my friend, is your two tiered justice system.

"the group only used a small fraction of that bounty — $210,000 — to bail rioters out of jail."

Yeah, that’s an issue with donating to any charity. You can’t control where all the money goes. Another example is people donate to the Red Cross whenever there is a disaster, but the money they donate won’t go to the disaster they are interested in. It will go to some future disaster. For that matter, our taxes work the same way.

Next step will be to rewrite all the stories that came out detailing what a horrible shit show her campaign was and her refusal to actual pay attention to policy.

She supported bailing out protesters, not domestic terrorists.

The full statement is more nuanced. During a June 17   interview   on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert," Harris told Colbert that protests — not riots — should not let up.

Colbert observed that reporting on protests happening in major cities across the country appeared to be dwindling, to which Harris responded: "That's right. But they're not gonna stop. They're not gonna stop, and this is a movement, I'm telling you.

"They're not gonna stop, and everyone beware, because they're not gonna stop," she continued. "They're not gonna stop before Election Day in November, and they're not gonna stop after Election Day.

"Everyone should take note of that, on both levels, that they're not going to let up — and they should not. And we should not," Harris concluded,   according to USA TODAY

The vice president-elect made a distinction between rioting and protesting in a rebuttal to Trump's acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention in September, CBS News   reported .

"We must always defend peaceful protest and peaceful protesters. We should not confuse them with those looting and committing acts of violence, including the shooter who was arrested for murder," Harris said. "Make no mistake, we will not let these vigilantes and extremists derail the path to justice."

Harris advocated sending money to a group that was bailing out protesters.  If "domestic terrorists" were bailed out it wasnt her doing.

Right. All those peaceful protesters who get arrested while violently rioting needed bail money. Peaceful protesting being illegal and all.   She called for bail assistance the day after rioters attacked the white house, forcing Trump to be evacuated to a bunker and injuring dozens of police and secret service if you want context.

It isn’t against the law to provide bail to a person that is arrested and has a bail amount set by a judge.

if I remember correctly a few thousand where found guilty so the system worked.

politicians have done much worse then provide bail for defendants, pardoning convicted murders for example comes to mind.

In a phone interview with MPR News on Wednesday, Minnesota Freedom Fund spokesperson Noble Frank said the nonprofit has posted bail for 2,978 people since its inception in 2016, and few of its clients go on to commit violent crimes.

Frank said that the fund’s mission is to keep low-income defendants out of pretrial detention so they can prepare their defenses from home as do those who have the financial means to post cash bail or contract with a bail bondsman.

They found 20% of all individuals released from prison were arrested for a  new  violent offense within three years. “The majority of these were for assault, 1% included a homicide, and 2% included a sexual assault/rape. Among those who had initially been convicted of a homicide, 2% committed a subsequent homicide,” according to the BJS research.

In February, former newspaper executive Kenneth Kurson   pleaded guilty   to cyberstalking his ex-wife. Months later, rapper Kodak Black was arrested on felony drug charges in Florida before pleading not guilty. And in October, jurors found political operative Jesse Benton guilty of illegally funneling Russian money into a group aligned with former President   Donald Trump .

The trio's circumstances may seem unrelated, but they share one notable link: All were previously   granted clemency   by Trump while he was in office.

And the list doesn't end there.

An ABC News analysis of the 238 people who were pardoned or had their sentences commuted during the Trump administration found at least ten who have since faced legal scrutiny -- either because they are under investigation, are charged with a crime, or are already convicted.

Legal experts call this recurring theme unprecedented -- but not entirely unexpected, given the former president's unorthodox approach to the pardon process.
