Trying to put on a united front at the united center
America, I gave my best to you....Joe Biden

Last night demonstrated what makes the democrat party so formidable. The DNC was able to kick off its convention after party bosses were able to switch candidates, as its media allies spared the two candidates leading the ticket any and all critical press interviews. Like it or not, most democrats simply fell in line. The rollout of the new ticket was so swift that the DNC didn't even have time to change the party’s 91-page platform, which still speaks of Joe Biden's second term. Not everyone was happy about it. Maureen Dowd, the New York Times opinion writer reported that “ everyone’s mad at one another. ” They were good at hiding it last night.

Yesterday began with the Illinois Governor announcing the preemptive deployment of the National Guard to assist with security. Security was heavy and the pro-Palestinian protestors were for the most part suppressed, though one managed to get inside the Convention, which had multiple ID checks, and he seized the mic momentarily. Outside the heavily barricaded perimeter, there were only a few arrests.

Vice-presidential pick Tim Walz was introduced at a DNC meeting as a “command sergeant major” without correction, despite the fact that Walz never completed the casework to claim the title in retirement. The long list of speakers included Michigan State Sen. Mallory McMorrow, who took aim at Project 2025 , the conservative Heritage Foundation's lengthy policy wish list for a second Trump term. "Over the next four nights you are going to hear a lot about what is in this 900-page document," McMorrow said. Oddly enough, Donald Trump has never endorsed the massive policy proposal, and I doubt many Americans have. Is that going to motivate voters?

The huge influence on the progressive wing of the democrat party was on full display. AOC spoke and the crowd hung on every word. She spoke as if Biden & Harris weren't in power the last 3 and a half years. She spoke of non-College educated workers as if they were still part of the democrat party. She said Donald Trump wants to do things for his friends on Wall Street, as if it was Trump who had friends on Wall Street. Doesn't she know that the democrat party is now the party of the elite?
As it got close to the time that Joe Biden was supposed to speak, there was an endless line of speakers who talked about abortion. It seemed as though the party embraced the issue to the degree that it was celebrating something that whether you consider it an absolute right or not, should never be celebrated, yet they did. Outside the Convention Center among the protestors there supposedly were places to get an abortion or a vasectomy. Chicago was like a progressive utopia.

Biden and other speakers at times exaggerated or left out context throughout the night.

Joe Biden got to the podium late and delivered a speech (52 minutes) that was way too long. He sounded angry and was constantly yelling about the things he thought he had accomplished. In truth he did more damage to America than many of our enemies could have done. He allowed many millions of illegal migrants into the country along with the Fentanyl which took the lives of over a quarter of a million Americans. Terrorists, murders and rapists have also entered. His $1.9 Trillion "Inflation Reduction Act" sent inflation soaring. He ran out of Afghanistan and was the catalyst for America's enemies around the world.

More than anything else his speech last night was proof that democrat leaders were right to push him out.

In the news:

The Israeli military said Tuesday that it recovered the bodies of six hostages taken in Hamas’ Oct. 7 attack.

Iran hacked Trump’s campaign and tried to hack Biden and Harris’s, US Intelligence sources said.

American officials say Israel has accepted an intermediate proposal in cease-fire talks with Hamas, which is meant to help work through their remaining disagreements.
Hamas officials have not yet agreed to the deal, which they have called slanted toward Israel. Secretary of State Antony Blinken called the proposal “probably the best, maybe the last, opportunity” to secure a truce.

Ukraine destroyed several bridges in the Kursk region, the part of Russia where it has made an incursion, cutting off Moscow’s routes for resupply or retreat.

Phil Donahue, the longtime daytime TV talk show host who revolutionized the form by inviting the audience to participate, died at the age of 88.

I was referring to you and the MAGA crowd that needs to pretend it’s not what it is.

Just a guess, you watched none of the actual convention but will nevertheless editorialize what you wish the reality to be.

Biden went out like he came in.  He rose to national attention as a punch line, caught telling the most brazen of lies about his background.  Forty years later, an embarrassment shunted out of prime time by his own party to limit the damage he can cause, he rises to the occasion to tell more outrageous lies in attempt to create another fake back story about himself.

Now the self proclaimed "middle class Joe" can spend the rest of his time relaxing  in the type of luxury hat the tens of millions in dollars given to him by hostile governments can buy while regaling his grandchildren with made up stories about winning the Heisman Trophy and a Rhodes Scholarship while advising  Martin Luther King  in college .  At least those grandkids who aren't bastards and who he deems  worthy of the Biden name.

During a campaign  trip to Michigan  earlier this month, Harris met with Abdullah Hammoud, the 34-year-old mayor of Dearborn, a Detroit suburb that has the largest number of Arab Americans of any city in the United States. The meeting was disclosed by a person who was not authorized to discuss it publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity.

The person familiar with the meeting did not provide specific details but said the focus was on Harris’ potential policy, if elected, on the Israel-Hamas conflict. Hammoud declined to comment.

“Vice President Harris supports the deals currently on the table for a permanent cease-fire in Gaza and for the release of hostages,” her campaign said in a statement. “She will continue to meet with leaders from Palestinian, Muslim, Israeli and Jewish communities, as she has throughout her vice presidency.”

National Lawyers Guild condemns Chicago police for 'violent' response to DNC protesters

b4be762fc3c88b80b211c8540887365d.jpg?tl=1&ve=1

Pro-Palestinian protesters rallied outside the Democratic National Committee Monday, at one point breaching a fence guarding the perimeter.

"The Chicago chapter of the National Lawyers Guild (NLG) is condemning what they call an aggressive and, at times, violent response by the Chicago Police Department (CPD) toward protesters at the start of the Democratic National Convention (DNC)," the progressive legal nonprofit said in a  press release  Tuesday.

The press release came following a  letter  signed by more than 65 progressive legal groups and attorneys calling on Chicago police not to repeat "the violence and violations committed by the CPD during the Democratic National Convention of 1968." The 1968 convention faced violent protests outside the convention, during which police were forced to deploy tear gas and other riot control measures to keep the peace.

On Monday, several  protesters  breached the first barrier fence surrounding the convention, leading to arrests by Chicago police. As of last night, a total of 14  protesters  have been arrested, according to  the lawyer guild's  press release.

“The response by Chicago police to First Amendment-protected activity we’ve seen so far is extremely intimidating for people wanting to speak out at this crucial time,” said Amanda Yarusso, a member of NLG Chicago’s Mass Defense Committee.

However, following the breach of the convention perimeter Monday afternoon,  Chicago police Superintendent Larry Snelling  insisted his officers "responded as professionally as we trained them to."
