The battle over the integrity of American elections.

The battle over the integrity of American elections.
The best weapon of a dictatorship is secrecy; the best weapon of a democracy is openness.".... Edward Teller

In the coming election both sides will have legal teams waiting on standby before, during and after the election. Republicans want to ensure that there are no ineligible voters and that ballots are properly counted. Democrats want to counter that with what they call a "voter protection team." It was a democrat lawyer who created this mess in the 2020 election by somehow getting key states to allow massive mail-in-voting. We are still plagued by the chaos it has brought to voting and voter integrity.

This election is expected to be very close and very heated. Thus, the process will be watched closely. In Georgia there have been changes to election rules since 2021. A new law expanded the ability for citizens to challenge a voter’s eligibility. Another took much of the power from the Secretary of State and gave lawmakers more power in selecting the State Election Board. And now officials could conduct “reasonable inquiry” into elections before certifying the results.

Democrats are looking to friendly judges to overturn State legislative decisions. There already have been many lawsuits. Last week, a Pennsylvania court ruled that misdated ballots could be counted. Within days Republican lawyers filed an appeal. Part of the mail-in-ballot privilege should be that instructions are followed, and dates are correct and signatures match, but when the system is overwhelmed with mail-in-ballots, there simply isn't enough poll workers to verify signatures.

Expect a battle no matter who wins.

In the news:

Two students and two teachers were killed in a shooting at Apalachee High School in Winder, Ga., about an hour outside Atlanta. At least nine others were wounded. The shooter, whom the authorities identified as a 14-year-old student, surrendered to law enforcement and will be charged as an adult. Trump expressed condolences for the victims and called the shooter “a sick and deranged monster” on social media.

Biden is expected to block Nippon Steel, a Japanese company, from buying US Steel.

Jury selection is set to begin today in Hunter Biden's tax trial in Los Angeles.

ABC has agreed to tweak the supposedly already agreed to debate rules. Harris accepted the rules after receiving separate "assurances" that mics could be turned on during the debate and the moderators would explain unheard exchanges.

Sen Lindsy Graham issued a stern warning to Amazon after its virtual assistant technology, Alexa, was found to be politically biased in favor of Vice President Kamala Harris over former President Trump:

'When Fox News Digital questioned the technology about why they should vote for Trump, Alexa said, "I cannot promote content that supports a certain political party or a specific politician."

"Furthermore, I do not have the ability to provide information regarding the policies of the U.S. government. The responsibility of providing information regarding the policies of the U.S. government lies with the government itself," the Amazon technology said.

But when it was asked why someone should vote for Harris, Alexa said, "While there are many reasons to vote for Kamala Harris, the most significant may be that she is a woman of color who has overcome numerous obstacles to become a leader in her field."

Seeing how this individual was flagged by the FBI last year, I have to wonder how much will be hidden in order to protect the powers that be from exposure? Seems that once again the adults and the system failed. It seems to me that with the issues uncovered last year, that the parents should be open to legal actions as well as they did not completely lock up their guns after their son was accused of making death threats.

We had roughly the same percentage of homes that had guns in them 50 years ago. Hell, I grew up in a home that had multiple guns (both long and hand) in a glass front unlocked case and we didn't have this problem to anywhere near this current level. We need to go back to a time when parents were involved with their children. I watch my eldest grandkids who's parents spent their time locked into their own computers and let the kids spend all their time on their own computers. And now they have an 18 yo who's graduated from high school and is not doing anything to move and improve his life. He still spends all his time watching social media. And the parents can't seem to figure out what happened and why he's not interested in doing anything...   sigh

You are asking all the right questions Sir.

That I would like to see.

We lost all of that. The Conservatives lost that war long ago.

As long as the repbulicans and today's gop don't 'use cheating' like they always do, we Democrats should do just fine.

It seems that certain corporations are immune. All they have to do is say that it was a malfunction, and it was fixed. I'm wondering why all the "malfunctions" go against Trump?

Go with he appointed a gaggle of really bad judges who lo and behold heard history knocking on the door of their reputations ... and then you seem to believe every whine he utters.

In unreported and completely ignored news, 71 pct of voters in the 2020 election were white.  And, yet, both parties are expending more resources and effort in addressing the concerns and securing the support of 29 pct of voters.  So, who is really being disenfranchised?

Look at it this way.

Colgate Bristol Myers sells toothpaste & deodorant to 71% of the women in this country and only 29% of the men.

Where should CBM concentrate their advertising dollars?  Where can they see tremendous growth?

It's an easy question and no women are being disenfranchised by commons sense.
