American Renewal
“I am honored that Noa Argamani will be joining us at President Trump’s Joint Address to Congress,” Johnson told The Post. “Despite experiencing the unimaginable in the hands of Hamas, Noa has demonstrated incredible strength and courage.” “Her return gives us hope for the safe return of all Hamas hostages,” he added. “We must continue to work to bring each of them home and stand firm against those who commit such atrocities.”

Tonight at 9 PM EST President Trump will address congress. The purpose of the speech is to address the President's work thus far and to present to the American people what comes next. The topics likely to be covered are the dashed hopes of reaching a peace deal in the Ukraine War, the anxiety some have over the cutting of waste in government, the need for tariffs, steps taken to address inflation, and border security and deportation efforts. Many in Kyiv and Moscow will be watching.

Of course, the President will also give some insight into his future course of action. There are also many cases heading for the Supreme Court, which will likely reinforce the authority of the President to run the executive branch of government. Some of it comes by way of resistance judges who have exceeded their authority and are simply trying to impede the Trump agenda and there is also Trump's pushing the envelope to see what he can do.

Although it is not a State of the Union address, the frustrated democrats will respond to the President's speech. They have chosen Michigan Sen. Elissa Slotkin. Democrats are expected to bring guests who have been harmed by policies put in place since Trump took office, including people who have been fired, or laid off, or have some claim of victimhood.

In the news:

04themorning-nl-march2-jumbo.jpg

Trump halted military aid to Ukraine with immediate effect. The order affects more than $1 billion in arms and ammunition. Officials said Trump would rescind it once Ukraine showed a good-faith commitment to peace negotiations. Maybe Zelensky will realize that he is the beneficiary, and President Trump is the Patron.

The Senate confirmed Linda McMahon as Secretary of Education.

Democrats voted down a bill that would have protected women from biological men in women's sports.

Arab leaders plan to meet in Cairo today to discuss the future of Gaza and President Trump's ideas on it.

A 40-year-old man drove a car into a crowd of people during lunch hour in Mannheim, Germany, killing two and injuring 11.

TSMC, the world’s largest computer chip manufacturer, plans to invest $100 billion over the next four years to expand its operations in the U.S.

Zelensky releases statement saying Ukraine is ready for real peace instead of endless war. He says that what is needed to accomplish that is security guarantees.

So, Ukraine gets security guarantees and Russia will pull out?

Got it.

Do you have a source for that?

Earlier this month, Kyiv estimated the number of Ukrainian soldiers killed   topped   45,000,

The UN Human Rights Office (OCHR) puts the number of civilian deaths at around 12,654, including at least 669 children.

And where is the picture of the Republicans who voted against keeping men out of women's bodies and personal health decisions? Oh, that's right, it would be hard to get all the rightwing thumpers in one shot who believe men should get to decide what's best for a woman if she happens to get raped or dares to have a fertilized egg in her uterus.

I think it's clear which issue is actually important for rational women with more than half a brain. The others of course would never dare to speak out for fear of being "corrected" by their male masters. As one of my Trump supporting cousins in Arkansas once said "What do you tell a woman with two black eyes? Nothing she ain't already been told twice...".

As he should have done.  Zelensky come to the WH with his hand out and it was slapped away.  What's striking about this is that prior to Zelensky's arrival the Ukrainian government was expecting to sign a deal that would start the peace process and for the US to recoup some of the money Ukraine has received (about $16.3 billion).  Democrats had a meeting with Zelensky prior to him meeting with the President.  That is when things went sideways.  Can't help but wonder why the Democrats would meet with him before he met with Trump and what role the Democrats had in the deal going sideways.

Democrats voted down a bill that would have protected women from biological men in women's sports.

OK, who is surprised about this one?  I'm not.

If Zelensky wanted peace he would have signed the deal. But he doesn't want peace because he would lose all the power and money and adoration of the uneducated masses. Ukraine has to replace him and Europe needs to wake up and pay their fair share for the common defense.

Immigration will bigly factor into the address.  That's the hook to tariffs on Canada and Mexico.  Anyone happen to notice that Mexico is stepping up to the plate.  Maybe Sheinbaum is only stroking Trump's ego but she really is delivering tangible results.  And those results are going to pay dividends for Mexico no matter what.  Quite the contrast to Trudeau's NY whine.

Trump withholding aid to Ukraine offers Europe a chance to demonstrate what they can do.  Starmer can guarantee the UK will fight a nuclear war to secure Ukraine.  But can Starmer bring Macron on board?  Can Starmer counterbalance Erdogan's political potshots?  C'mon, Europe, show us what you got.

Trump will probably lay out how gutting the Federal workforce opens the door for 'private sector entrepreneurship'.  The whole damned DOGE flimflam may only be a prelude to privatizing Social Security.  The private sector needs to capture those FICA taxes so they can cheat Amurican workers and invest more in cryptocurrency and AI.  Yes, the United States is home to business leaders that really are that stupid.  Gold Card Visas for Golden parachutes.  Taxpayers have to save the rich because Elon Musk has proven the rich cannot save themselves.

Trump's accomplishments so far has permanently removed Reagan from the political landscape.  It looks like DOGE is clearing the last vestiges of Reagan deadwood from the bureaucracy.  On top of that, the TEA Party brand has been so tarnished that it's dying out fast.  Sorry, Newt, your toast is done.  Trump is opening the door for a Democrat resurgence if and only it Democrats will change their own party.  The simpering gaslight schtick won't cut it from now on.  Democrats are gong to have to deliver tangible results to make a beachhead on today's political stage.
