Is It Right To Hope That Tesla Fails As A Company ?

The latest national controversy bubbling through mainstream media and panel shows is whether it is right or wrong to protest Tesla dealerships and /or hope that Tesla stock crashes and Musk loses many billions of dollars.

So I throw open that question here.

Let us remember that trying to destroy the worth of companies has a fairly long tradition from the right as well, the most significant recent example being the right wing wish and boycott against Bud Light beer, which damaged that brand for a significant period of time. I have a nephew who used to drink only Bud Light, now, because he is MAGA, he wont touch it even though it was his favorite beer.

I dont think anyone wants to ruin Tesla per se, but rather ruin Elon Musk. I suppose it is unfortunate that he made himself synonymous with the product, but something has to give, and millions and millions of Americans will agree to sacrifice Tesla in order to get Musk out of the pinnacle of American public life.

Musk IS NOT a patriotic American.

A few weeks ago there were news stories about the Department Of Defense buying hundreds of Tesla cybertrucks for battlefield use.  Today there are news stories about every single tesla cybertruck being recalled because the glue used to hold sections of it together has failed.

my son and DIL got invited for a tesla truck test drive 2 weeks ago, after waiting about a year after applying online. they had to drive past the protesters 4 times, and said the sales people in the dealership were falling all over themselves being nice, but my DIL is a latina badass so she was unaffected. she didn't like the truck, but my son did, but they had already bought another vehicle about the same time they set up the test drive last year.

I also have a friend that has a tesla sedan that he's now afraid to move out of his garage, because he's afraid "somebody will paint a swastika on it". he put it up for sale, since he's a federal employee that's received the retire or else and tell us what you did this week emails, but hasn't gotten a serious call on the car in almost 3 weeks.

"Nearly All Cybertrucks Have Been Recalled Because Tesla Used the Wrong Glue | WIRED"

Getting kinda sloppy on sourcing your stories, it appears. No mention of the DoD purchasing any cybertruck. And it wasn't about
" every single tesla cybertruck being recalled".

So to get back at Musk, the left wants Tesla to fold. So screw the thousands of employees and the company's suppliers families?

Typical leftist illogic.

False:

The controversy is over the obvious coordinated effort to vandalize Tesla dealerships and charging stations while doxing Tesla dealers and vandalizing the cars of Tesla drivers.  Once again, the left has turned to violence and intimidation. How soon before someone is killed?

Let me be clear! A businessman who sticks his nose into the public sector and fires people that don't even work for him and his private business interests should understand The nature of the task undertaken. These are real people just as dedicated to their employment has any private sector individuals. So no one should wish Tesla ruin per se, but they are perfectly right not to wish well anyone who seeks their political removal/ firing in order to please a certain and specific constituency in this case the GOP.

What's in it for him?

But no, you won't do that because it's so much easier to think that your side is winning and setting back liberals. It is possible that everything you have come to love about this country is being affected by someone who can simply just buy the damn government for a price!

I happen to agree with you on this one. I don't want Tesla to fail, there are a lot of American workers jobs on the line and they make good cars, so I unequivocally condemn any violence or vandalism targeting Tesla's or their drivers or employees.

I do understand people's frustration with Musk, but he must be held accountable for his actions and wreaking havoc in our government separately. That's on him, not his company or cars.

With that said, watching the American President act like a fucking car salesman on the Whitehouse lawn on Musk's and Tesla's behalf was beyond embarrassing. What a fucking shit show. No fair and balanced there, no other auto makers were invited to such an ethically corrupt car commercial at the Whitehouse.

We as a nation are in uncharted territory.  I dont have any problem with Tesla cars and certainly not with their employees.

But what WILL effect Musk, and Trump too for that matter?   Something must be done and protesting his company is not out of the question imo.  The burning of the cars at dealerships is a crime and should be prosecuted accordingly.

While I don't want Tesla to fail, and I won't be supporting any of the vandals or attending any boycotts, I won't be buying any Tesla's for the foreseeable future. I bought a new Toyota Highlander a couple weeks ago and could have bought a Tesla but chose not to, mostly because it would be inconvenient with few charging stations close by, but also because I didn't want to help fund the architect of many Americans suffering and loss of jobs and general chaos that Musk has injected into our government.

It affected him to the tune of $900 Billion...

Tesla is recalling 'nearly all' of its cybertrucks after it found that an exterior trim panel was falling off.

They are recalling 46,096  out of the 38,965 sold.

In the auto industry parlance, that is a 100% recall.

The only units not recalled are the test vehicles with no serial numbers which will never be sold.

First it was the "grille covers coming partially free, now the door panels are falling off.  It's no laughing matter, just another short cut gone wrong.

In 2024, fully 21% of all recalls were from Tesla which only sells 4.2% of registered vehicles on the road.

In 2024 the Cybertrucks were recalled for defective Instrument panel, back up camera issue, interior trim, inoperable wiper motors, accelerator pedal sticking, loss of Power and now "unscheduled exterior panel separation".

Aggressive, I see. Well, that does not work with me. As it is I have read Townhall and Red State materials over the years. . . for your information. . . I glanced the articles you shared. But I get bogged down in the 'soggy rhetoric' that seeks to be (brutally insulting to the readers on purpose, ie, the abuse and overuse of language that is tacky, aggressive, and SUPERFLOUS). I don't have to 'take' that so. . .I leave it and let it lie where it 'rests.'

Link to something that assumes the reader is reasonable. . . and the 'undertaking' will be less an ordeal just to ingest what is being 'shared,' and the message may be received without suspicion. But it is just more opinion plied with additional opinions (or some such activities) I don't want to feel my head with it. . . as I said. . . I don't have to and so I won't.  So I don't.

Consider sharing neutral sourcing. . . not 'heavily' partisan writers who read like they have a large chip on their shoulder. . . when replying to me. . . and yes, I will take my own advice and do the same with you.

DOGE is just a hack/slash, burn it down operation so far. It has not made any effort to even try to understand where it is cutting, but instead just cut. And, it started cutting right where it could make the most damage. As a country, we have worked for many years to bolster our image as a helpful, caring country. The way that other countries will view us now is as a hard and unforgiving nation who plays on the notion of zero-sum. Trump and Musk are transactional gangsters, not realizing that they are killing the golden goose.

Absolutely.  Hopefully Musk loses his ass on his robot venture as well.  He had it all then took one too many hits of acid or something and lost every ounce of respect the world had for him.  Now it’s just magatards supporting him.

It gets real old watching these overly-simplistic, stupid stereotypes.   Seems some walk around with an absurdly naive notion that all 'the left' (aka those to the left of the individual) think and act the same.   That anything done or believed by someone to their left is always wrong.   It is childishly naive.

Some do the same thing in terms of 'the right', but the overwhelming cases are people referring to 'the left' with ridiculous, simplistic, laughable exaggerations.

Both sides of the spectrum would do better to have their members decide for themselves to move back into the 'safe middle' of politics. This political 'warfare' is discussing, and as is customary for 'warfare' waging it destroys lives, careers, suspends rules, is demoralizing, and it leaves out the children (onlookers as their future being pissed on by their elders fighting like cats and dogs).

If one is fighting, but the behavior is not for the good (of all) then it is just a big damn waste of time and effort. Essentially nothing or any lasting value or any lasting consequences come out of it. It's just EMOTIONAL "indulgence" by both sides. And then comes the return to the INEVITABLE meeting of the minds once again.

Musk is indirectly and in some places directly making clear that he is buying elections and putting conservatives in strategic places to control this nation. This is a free Nation and doesn't need any damn control from one party locked in place at the top by money of the wealthy. What's next? He's going to start paying off judges to rule his way?

Our  country is being bought by the highest bidders and we better wake our butts up before transactional leaders are all we have.

President Musk is suffering from megalomania.

President Trump is suffering from old age rage; has moments where he cannot read from a teleprompter, called Sant Patrick a

"patriot saint",  fell up the stairs on Marine One the other day, tripped over sandbags at an Air Force event and fell to his knees

and reportedly has bruised hands from falling.

Can you imagine what the news would be reporting about the previous President?

Tesla is good for the nation (and the planet).   Musk as an entrepreneur / visionary has been net good for the nation (and the planet).

Which isn't to say that Tesla owners love to hate their cars.  They love the technology and the overnight software updates that can make the Tesla run better than new again.  They have their drawbacks in battery performance especially temperature related  and supercharger availability and performance

They accept all of that.  What they are also livid about is that the general market place won't take a Tesla in for any kind of service

and simple issues like a broken door lok or broken taillight lens may take weeks or months to get fixed.

Tesla was severely over valued, buoyed by SpaceX and Twitter and Musk.  The Market is correcting that

and the Tesla owners on the fence because of lousy service have every right to express their displeasure by trading in their Tesla's before their value tanks even further.

Capitalism. Tesla has a board of directors. If they keep Musk in place, they demonstrate approval of his behavior. If potential customers stay away because of that behavior, the board is responsible.
