Rachel Maddow: Trump Can't Even Fail Properly

They cannot commit to what they're doing, but they also can't even reverse what they're doing when they try to reverse it because they are so incompetent they can't even fail properly. They're like a baby just mashing down the buttons on a keyboard with no idea what the buttons do
This is truly a revealing day.
If you are viewing this or reading this and think that the President has gone too far, that the President is placing this country in peril for his own gain, write, email AND call your Representative in the House and the Senate and let them know that this behavior is unacceptable from a President of the United States of America.

This would be funny if it were not true...
Rachel Maddow is one of the smartest newscasters today! One of the things I like about her is that in addition to reporting the news she also has great insights, and often explains the significance of it...in a way some others miss.
MSNBC viewership has skyrocketed in the last month
particularly after the tariffs started getting thrown back and forth.
The undertones of several people have been hardly disguised "we told you so" smirks.
I like her analysis. Sometimes it is a bit edgy, even for me, but I have very infrequently noticed her being wrong on the facts of the matter at hand.
I have bemoaned the loss of Daniel Schorr as an analyst, but I think that what she lacks in experiential chops she more than makes up for with her studied approach.
IMO she's an interesting person. A while back I found an article with some facts about her....since her name came up, I will look for it and then seed it.
We tried this in high school and proved it was not true.
Also known as 100 monkeys on 100 typewriters.
The Trump Admin is the latest 100 monkeys.
The grandstanding and slapping each other on the back and praising the leadership of Trump and some of the minions has almost reached the levels of embarrassment of Idi Amin Duda of Uganda.
I'm familiar with that (But I wonder if someone can actually prove-- or disprove it without actually trying it out?)
Its impossible to test it-- the "infinite" in "an infinite amount of time" would present some difficulties.
Without my looking it up. . . is that the theorem that says that there is at least one world in the multiverse where a monkey has already banged out a complete work/s of William Shakespeare.
Probable in some alternative universes somewhere, a group of monkeys are busily typing out Harlequin romances!
I've heard various versions of it, but that's basically it.
In our universe the descendant of an ape banged out the complete work/s of William Shakespeare. His name was William Shakespeare. That should count, right?
HA!
It reminds me of another theory (although its a bit different), Every so often some Stock market commentator repeats this one:
If you tacked up a page of The Wall St Journal on the wall (A page that just list lots and lots of stocks and their current price, P/E ratio, dividend if any, etc) and had a monkey throw darts at it, a portfolio of the stocks picked by the dart throwing monkey would match or even beat the picks of the average stock broker.
Rachel Maddow is bringing the news we need to hear. . . MAGAs tried to set the narrative. . .but the truth is the Bond Market spoke up and expose a weakness in the Trump 'armor.' See? "We" told everybody: There is nobody on this planet who is beyond the reach of the right somebody! God don't like ugly!
MSNBC viewership jumped a lot in the last two weeks but especially in the day time hours where retiree's are tuning in to
hear something without the smoke, mirrors and outright lies of the Trump Cabinet and press secretary
The part that I especially liked was around 4 minutes in. She was talking about the bond market and how investors were starting to call on their bond investments.
Just think about that for a bit. Bonds are what investors have classically went to in the case of market unease, but now they were running from the bond market also.
How many of those does it take to spell, "Game over" for the US economy?
Impeach Trump now while we still have some shred of credibility left.
It was a classic overreach. Trump's arrogance and talk of officials coming from lands far and wide to kiss his. . . hiney. . . was not the kind of thing that other market could stand holding a visual of from the guy! Trump, had to bow down to another group of people, bigly. Worse, those countries see what occurred. . . and will use it too.
Oh, he will claim it is his beneficence that kicked in
Well, that would be a fib. The facade of 'king Donald' got broken down today. We now understand that are plenty ways to take back our federal system from the 'Devil.'
Not possible with this congress.
You know, I am not really sure how much this whole government thing should be trusted at this point. We have a President who quite obviously has zero clue as to what the fuck he is doing or how it affects the rest of the world, and we have a congress that is enthralled by the prospect of being primaried by Trump, even though Trump's actions just over the past week have been shown to be those of an unhinged madman in the eyes of the American people.
Impeach him now. Don't ask the representatives. Ask the people. There are a hell of a lot more of us than there are them.
Unfortunately (as you of course know) the CotUS does not give the people the power to remove a rogue PotUS.
I do realize this. But if the people of this country realize that this is what they can expect for the rest of his four years and communicate their displeasure to their elected representatives, I think that we can get it.
I think it's time for a new amendment....recalling an unfit POTUS
Writing or emailing my congress critters would be a waste of time for me because they all have their lips firmly attached to trmp's back side
I think the electorate needs to be smarter and start electing people who are more inclined to do what is right for the people.
Start somewhere to unseat the 'red-state' mind that prevails in your area. Yes, even one voter in the community at a time. Push-back can be impactful even when you can't feel it working. . .it has an effect. As Maddox points out - pushback is quieting having a positive effect on getting these fools to take down some of their 'stupe' and pretenses every day now. Don't ever despair, just keep talking and keep thinking on how to create positive change for all of us - even conservatives too. That is, when the are right 'on' about a subject matter. If they are just bigots being bigots - damn 'em and the bullcrap they speak where it stands and plays!
We need to overhaul our education system and teach young people how to think. My dad said school was to teach you to think not just stuff your head full of stuff
I will keep telling the electorate to get off their big butts and do what is right once and for all for the people-collectively of this country. Enough of this 'see-sawing,' back and forth, 'dicking around,' with other people's liberty while telling them it is good for them to stay back and 'down' beneath the viewable 'fold.' Damn that.
We must tell politicians to ____ or get off the 'pot'!
We're done with them not having a clue as to how to get beyond their professional-personal shit and being so ass-backwards that they don't even know when it is time to just quit and walk away. The thing is just too big/much for any one of you. If they can't do the job they are hired to do for the good of all, we should work to throw any and if need be all their butts out of office. And, get a new 'crop' in there that will listen and above all do what is right and "F" the games these people seem to have all the time in the world to play.
Also, elections are costing too much.
This is bull crap! Enough of the super-rich financing the shit out of elections. It's out of control 'buying.' And the stupid ass SCOTUS is sitting there letting it happen. It does not take an exceptional brilliant mind to understand that if the world's richest man can get what he wants with a 'penance' of a few million dollars that s/he will spend it and compel all of us to be shaped in her/his image. Make SCOTUS do its effing 'job' too. Because to just sit there and being partisan ass-swipes is not good for the country.
So there. . . I ranted. Sorry, TiG!
I think young people do know inherently how to think. I think the dilemma for them is why are the ADULTS doing such a poor job with their thinking - political-wise.
I mean look at today's cable channels, since Trump became president it is 'wall to wall' coverage of all things Trump! If that man farts it is 'breaking news'! What message does this send to youth? It tells them they need to get in on the 'game' because the 'game' is the thing! BTW, when did it become 'proper' to broadcast farts around the world in real-time??! Enough of this sell-sell-sell shit to the public just to have something to run ads atop.
Trump and MAGA are eating our 'lunch' because apparently we don't have the will or courage to guard our own damn lunch pails from frontal assaults! The bullies are going to 'bully' its what they really are. Until. . . they are shown that others can take a punch and punch back just as hard if not harder.
This presumes that the "blue state" mind isn't an equally complete shitshow.
It presumes those whom are the subjects of TG's comment. To which point there is only one specific group of citizens that seem to think they can 'own' and dispense rights and privileges to other groups of citizens and that group has a proper name: White Christian Nationalists—largely.
As far as extremists go - left and right - I have no use for either group's mindset which won't let the opposing side breathe or live in peace.
Still, that is not TG's issue with her state.
what happens if we find out it's gotten too late for that, then what?
when the 3 branches of government fail to protect and defend the constitution for US citizens, at what point does the responsibility fall upon the citizens?
If we cannot always tell with precision what is right, we all have the ability to know when something is definitely wrong. This is the case at this point.
trump is coloring way outside the lines and his crayons should be taken away ...
And even with all that has happened today with the bond market, many Trump supporters are trying foolishly to spin this as a win for Trump.
IMO its hard to know how this will play out,,, in the near fuure. But ultimately But their firing so many workers. And less workers means less people spending-- or spendinga lot less. So that will continue to make the economy worse.
Eventually many Republicans will start to have "buyer's remorse". It will start to add up-- it may happen sooner but ultimately I think MAGA power will decrease significantly during the midterms.
They have to. . .for now. But something interesting happened today that should not be overlooked or under-stressed. Trump bowed down and kissed the ass of the holders of our debt - China (and other countries) is observant enough to see it too.
I like the discussion about Social Security finding and standing on its own legs again, because "we the people" are sick and tired of the disrespect being shoved in their faces by the "angry man" Trump and MAGA.
People are getting over the shock and awe. People are getting over their PSTD. And damn it- people are ready to 'chomp down' on those who have been messing with their 'Stuff'!
Their stuff and more importantly, their rights.
Might as well add O'Donnell's perspective:
Lawrence loves to poke the 'fat' where its soft, does'nt he? Furthermore, good old Rachel loves to tickle bad people's 'fat' too. (Chuckles.)
Mr Horsford was certainly animated in his questioning.
And no Republicans in the room. What will it take for congressional GOP members to realize that this has gone too far and to grow a spine?
Calls, letters, emails, and visits from those they represent?
China leaking a rumor into the open spaces. . . that China and Japan are seeking to sell both nation's U.S. debt? That would create something thing 'to talk about, and figure out'!
To be fair, there were Republicans in the room
Horsford said they left.
If you watch the end of the video, the chair states to let the record show that there are still 6 Republican members present. Mr. Horsford is, after all, a politician, and I have never seen one of them who is not set on permanent spin.
Rachel Maddox brought the message 'home' tonight. Push-back against DOGE and MAGA is finding purchase in their armor. We're not hearing that from many in the media. . . but she (and Lawrence) do bring the evidence with them nightly. I like that.
Just watch the beginning where Trump talks about other nations kissing his ass.
This is who Trump supporters elected to be PotUS. The arrogance is almost as astounding as the stupidity.
And then there is this about China (very interesting article which I can not give full exposure here its too long):
That 'brown-nosing' remark may have 'legs' that come back around and kick this administration. Just imagine: foreign representatives going into and coming out of the White House with 'chocolate pudding' on their faces . . . Wow, what a visual, eh?
This is a "90-day pause". So... 90 days from now, we start all this crap once again.
Yay...
If Trump plays his cards right he can stretch these "90 day pauses" out until the end of his term and then claimed the rest of the world submitted to him.
And at each crash-and-recover, his cronies will reap billions in insider trader trading.
Life is good for the ultra-rich!
I blame all the lunk-heads who sit around like deer caught in headlights pretending they are stunned into paralysis by a man they swear is not that smart! Is he or ain't he?
He's clever. Not smart.
Okay, now you owe me your meaning: How do you mean Trump is "clever" ?
He knows how to "handle" people. It's instinctive. He may bully or kowtow, or anything in between. It's entirely artificial,. but it works.
So cunning. Got it.
"Cunning" is an excellent descriptor for him.
This isn't clever anymore. When the stock market and the bond market tank at the same time it's because foreign investors are cashing out and demanding EU or yen or gold.
We are perilously close to a run to bankruptcy and firing Novarro and Bennet is probably not enough to save us or Trump.
Trump is too self centered to resign.
Better hold on tight.
I said, "He's clever. Not smart."
That's what I was thinking...cunning. Not necessarily smart or clever just the ability to play people
Trump preys (plays) on voters with a desire for sordid gain. For me, the real surprise is the number of voters willing to let go of solid truth for truth fluidity. I really believed this country had learned its lessons from the past. . . little did I know that greedy people were biding the time and lying in wait to waylay progress for all in our nation. Another surprise, the many minorities that have 'larceny' for others deep in their hearts too. You just can't figure people in blocs.
Take people as they come, one at a time
Trump has become a failure at failing, is that possible, yes, of course it is Trump is the best at everything.
Doesn't failing at failing mean succeeding?
Read the article. The point is that Trump failed at trying to reverse the ill effects of his failure.
