A Koi is
a common carp of a large ornamental variety, originally bred in Japan
Koi are a form of Goldfish (members of the Carp family which are actually minnows)! I find them almost cartoon-like and almost irresistible as poster subjects.
I love Koi. I used to raise them. My favorites were butterfly Koi. I wish I could keep them in a pond at my sisters house, but they would be dinner for the racoons.
Love the quality of these photos. You do your own magic on them creating your own art.

Kois-R-Us I have posted a companion-piece image.
Not only important, but extremely expensive. My neighbor, when I lived in CA. had a Koi pond. They were beautiful, and would eat out of your hand.
Great photos Mac.
