It Ain't Just a "Pick-up" Line … I Mean it … "Come up and see my etchings!" Well, maybe it's a little of both.
In Raymond Chandler's novels, private detective Philip Marlowe (a decent guy, who, for professional image reasons pretends to be otherwise) uses the phrase to seduce women. (c.1940's)
I love restoring old photographs, and, I love creating artistic derivatives from old and recent photos as well. In the age of DIGITAL ART, there are no limits to what can be done to transform virtually any image to something subtly or radically different -- including transforming something old into something that looks even older and yet aesthetically viable.
Here are four old photos that I first restored -- after which I transformed them to look like etchings/engravings in the manner of artists like Rembrandt and others.
Hope you like.
A residential scene, Minneapolis, Minnesota, c. 1915
A ship at the Wharf in San Francisco, California, 1904
Street Merchants, Coburg, Germany, 1903
An street musician (organ grinder) with a partial artificial leg; Philadelphia, c. 1895

So, how 'bout coming up to see my etchings?
Or, just look at 'em right here.
Your choice.
BF,
Check your NT messages -- I just sent one.
Wonderfully (re-)done, Mac!
Thank you both.
